In culmination of the 2024 CARAGA Indigenous Peoples Month Celebration and 27th IPRA Commemoration with the theme, โMga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalanโ the championship games and awarding ceremony for the IPRA Cup: Basketball and Volleyball Tournment was held last October 29, 2024.

NCIP Chairperson Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las visited the Manobo and Mandaya Indigenous Cultural Communities/ Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur led by City Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Datu Florio Josafat, Jr. in celebration of the 2024 Indigenous Peoples Month Celebration and 27th IPRA Commemoration with the theme, โMga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalanโ last October 22, 2024.
Chairperson Sibug-Las was able to experience the beauty of Tinuy-an Falls, situated within Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) 239. She also met with the Manobo Tribal Council of Sote led by the Tribal Chieftain Hawudon Tinuy-an Alfredo Domogoy and Indigenous Peoples Organization (IPO) Chairman Hawudon Sayaw Rodino Domogoy. She learned of the legend and origin of the name of the falls.
Provincial IPMR Hawudon Jimmy Guinsod and Datu Agong Aljun Cayawan were also present in the said gathering.

NCIP Chairperson Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las visited the Mandaya Indigenous Cultural Communities/ Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur led by Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Datu Arnoldo Cabilin, Jr. in celebration of the 2024 Indigenous Peoples Month Celebration and 27th IPRA Commemoration with the theme, โMga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalanโ.
Chairperson Sibug-Las witnessed first hand the beauty of the Enchanted River. She also listened to stories of the origin and bravery of the Mandaya Indigenous Peoples.
Also present in the said gathering was Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Anthony "Tonton" Caรฑedo who expressed his commitment to support the revitalization of the Manobo culture and tradition together with the Municipal Local Governmen Unit headed by Mayor Tito Caรฑedo III.

The Manobo Indigenous Cultural Communities/ Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) of Lianga, Surigao del Sur led by Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Hawudon Constancio Duhac, in partnership with their Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lianga, hosted the 2024 Indigenous Peoples Month Celebration and 27th IPRA Commemoration with the theme, โMga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalanโ.
More than 300 Indigenous Peoples from various communities across Lianga, along with representatives from neighboring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Cultural Communities (IP/ICCs), filled the Evacuation Center in Barangay Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, for the celebration. This gathering not only highlighted the rich cultural heritage and unity among the different Indigenous groups but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of solidarity in advocating for Indigenous rights.
The celebration featured a series of impactful events designed to uplift and support the Indigenous communities. Notably, medical missions led by surgeon and Provincial Board Member Dr. Amado โBoyโ Layno provided essential healthcare services to attendees, addressing vital health needs within the community. In addition, the Municipal Indigenous Political Structure of Lianga, under the leadership of Hawudon Constancio B. Duhac Jr., organized the distribution of school supplies, ensuring that children have the necessary tools for their education.
Moreover, a range of lectures and symposiums focused on the promotion of Indigenous Peoplesโ rights were conducted, fostering awareness and dialogue on important issues affecting the community. These activities not only highlighted the importance of health and education but also served as platforms for empowering the Indigenous Peoples by sharing knowledge and advocating for their rights. This multifaceted approach highlights the commitment of both the local government and Indigenous leaders to create a supportive environment for cultural preservation and community development.
The event created a vibrant atmosphere where participants shared stories, traditional practices, and knowledge, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. Such gatherings are essential for promoting awareness of Indigenous issues and reinforcing the communityโs resilience in preserving their cultural identity amidst modern challenges. The Banwaon, Manobo, and Talaandig Indigenous Communities/ Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) of San Luis, Agusan del Sur led by Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Bae Kahubadan Ederlina Precioso, celebrated the 2024 National Indigenous Peoples Month and 27th Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) Commemoration on October 21, 2024, with the theme: "Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalaagan, at Parangalan.โ
The event began with a panawagtawag or ritual, a ceremony invoking spirits for guidance. The NCIP San Luis Community Service Center (CSC) and the office of the IPMR then led the convocation and Flag-Raising Ceremony of the municipality.
Municipal IPMR Bae Precioso emphasized the ongoing efforts to preserve the cultural traditions of the Indigenous Peoples of San Luis for future generation. This endeavor is facilitated by the Local Government Unit's enactment of Municipal Ordinance No. 04, which formally designates the third Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day within the Municipality of San Luis.
Municipal Mayor Ronaldo Y. Corvera, in his message, emphasized the importance of Indigenous Peoples taking pride in their heritage. He cited that the Banwaon, Manobo, and Talaandig Indigenous Peoples are exemplary models of hospitality and cleanliness. โDili nato ikaulaw nga lumad or IP ta, dapat maging proud ta nga Banwaon, Manobo ug Talaandig ta,โ he added.
Veronica O. Lobood, Communtiy Development Officer (CDO) III of NCIP San Luis CSC, encouraged everyone to celebrate Indigenous identity, emphasizing the vibrant cultural heritage flourishing in the municipality. She expressed hope that the younger generation would feel empowered to carry on these traditions.

Betcheba Prochina, Public Schools District Incharge, highlighted the strength of Indigenous Peoples Education in San Luis. She emphasized that the curriculum incorporates contextualized, indigenized, and culturally relevant lessons to ensure the preservation of Indigenous traditions.
The program prominently featured the โPasundayag tu Kultura,โ a cultural presentation that showcased the rich and diverse heritage of the Indigenous Peoples. This event included performances of traditional musical instruments, indigenous dances such as courtship dance, war dance, indigenous songs such as Limbay, Tud-om (chant), Dasang (poetic discourse), and the literary art form known as Balagtasan featuring โPalagsulat and Palamguwanโ.
The concerted efforts of the Local Government Unit of San Luis, ACCORD Inc., the NCIP San Luis CSC, and the IPMR office culminated in a successful demonstration of Indigenous Peoples' commitment to valuing, nurturing, and honoring their traditional knowledge systems.
