What are counterfeit medicines?

Counterfeit medicines are medicines which are:

• With the correct ingredients but not in the correct amounts,
• With the wrong ingredient/s
• Without active ingredient/s, and or
• With insufficient quantity of active ingredient/s

It also refers to medicines which are deliberately and fraudulently mislabeled with respect to identity and/or source or with fake packaging and can apply to both branded and generic products.

Ang antibiotics ay mga gamot na tumutulong labanan ang ating mga impeksyon. Ang maling paggamit nito ay maaaring magdulot ng masamang epekto. Wala nang tatalab na gamot kapag tayo ay nagkasakit at magiging “drug resistant” na ang mikrobyo. Kapag nangyari yan, madaling lalala ang sakit at maaari mo pang ikamatay. Paano ito maiiwasan?

1. Huwag basta-basta uminom ng antibiotic. Magpakonsulta muna sa doktor kung hindi mabuti ang pakiramdam.
2. Inumin ang antibiotic ayon sa payo ng doctor at pharmacist. Kumpletuhin ang inirisetang gamutan. Huwag itigil ang gamutan kahit makaramdam ng pagbuti sa mga unang araw ng pag-inom ng antibiotics.
3. Bumili lamang ng antibiotics sa mga lisensyadong botika ng FDA upang makasiguro na dekalidad ang iinuming gamot.
4. Huwag manghiraman o gumamit ng reseta na hindi laan sa iyo.

Maging bahagi ng solusyon. Gamitin nang wasto ang antibiotics.

Isa sa mga maling kuru-kuro ay ang paglalagay ng dinurog na antibiotic (hal. Amoxicillin) sa paggamot ng sugat.

Kung ikaw ay may sugat na lumalala o hindi gumagaling, agad itong ipakonsulta sa doktor.

Ang Amoxicillin ay hindi isang over-the-counter drug (OTC) at kinakailangan ng reseta bago ibigay ng pharmacist upang mapigilan ang paglaganap ng Antimicrobial Resistance.

One of the most common hearsays is that powdered antibiotics (e.g. Amoxicillin) can be used in treating wounds.

Should there be a wound that worsens or does not heal, immediately visit a doctor for check-up.

Amoxicillin is not an over-the-counter (OTC) drug, and prescription is needed before pharmacists can dispense the antibiotic to help stop the spread of Antimicrobial Resistance.
