Thank you parishioners of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Aluba for your warm welcome!
We are inspired by today's gospel, and we pray that just like Mama Mary, may we humbly submit ourselves to God as we continue this journey of evangelization.
"Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight His paths, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God." -Luke 3:4;6
We had a productive evening tonight, all for God's greater glory! ๐๐ปโจ
Today we celebrate the 87th Birthday of Pope Francis.
Join us in prayer as we wish him a joyful and blessed celebration. โจ๐๐ป
Prayer:
O God, the Pastor and Ruler of all the faithful, look down, in Your mercy, upon Your servant, Pope Francis, whom You have appointed to preside over Your Church, and grant, we beseech You, that both by word and example, he may edify all those under his charge; so that, with the flock entrusted to him, he may arrive at length unto life everlasting.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

"Rejoice: the Lord is nigh." As Christmas draws near, the Church emphasizes the joy which should be in our hearts over all that the birth of our Savior means for us. The great joy of Christians is to see the day drawing nigh when the Lord will come again in His glory to lead them into His kingdom. The oft-repeated Veni ("Come") of Advent is an echo not only of the prophets but also of the conclusion of the Apocalypse of St. John: "Come, Lord Jesus," the last words of the New Testament.
Today is known as Gaudete Sunday. The term Gaudete refers to the first word of the Entrance Antiphon, "Rejoice". Rose vestments are worn to emphasize our joy that Christmas is near, and we also light the rose candle on our Advent wreath.
๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ:
O God, who see how your people faithfully await the feast of the Lord's Nativity, enable us, we pray, to attain the joys of so great a salvation and to celebrate them always with solemn worship and glad rejoicing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Misa de Aguinaldo (meaning "Gift Mass") is among the most distinctive traditions of Christmas in the Philippines. Churchgoers offer the gift of sacrifice of waking up before the break of dawn for nine consecutive days to attend the dawn masses in thanksgiving, as a form of worship, or for a standing petition. Misas de Aguinaldo (plural of "misa" is "misas) are technically the novena masses we attend. These were introduced for the farmers who wake up very early to work, and; to impress Filipino Christian converts on the significance of Christmas Day.
Misa de Aguinaldo is a privileged votive mass, meaning a mass that does not correspond to the liturgical calendar but has a special intention. It is conducted for a โgrave or weighty reasonโ (pro re gravi) and with massive attendance of the faithful. Instead of the violet that is proper of Advent, the color of the vestments of the priests during the Misa de Aguinaldo is white. Gloria is also sung during this type of celebration.

โAs the journey of Advent continues, as we prepare to celebrate the nativity of Christ, John the Baptist's call to conversion sounds out in our communities. It is a pressing invitation to open our hearts and to welcome the Son of God Who comes among us to make divine judgement manifest. The Father, writes St. John the Evangelist, does not judge anyone, but has entrusted the power of judgement to the Son, because He is the Son of man.
โAnd it is today, in the present, that we decide our future destiny. It is with our concrete everyday behavior in this life that we determine our eternal fate. At the end of our days on earth, at the moment of death, we will be evaluated on the basis of our likeness or otherwise to the Baby Who is about to be born in the poor grotto of Bethlehem, because He is the measure God has given humanity.
โThrough the Gospel John the Baptist continues to speak down the centuries to each generation. His hard clear words bring health to us, the men and women of this day in which even the experience and perception of Christmas often, unfortunately, reflects materialist attitudes. The 'voice' of the great prophet asks us to prepare the way for the coming Lord in the deserts of today, internal and external deserts, thirsting for the water of life which is Christ.โ โ Pope Benedict XVI
๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ:
Almighty and merciful God, may no earthly undertaking hinder those who set out in haste to meet your Son, but may our learning of heaven wisdom grain us admittance to his company. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the solemn dogma defined by Blessed Pope Pius IX in 1854.
Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, "full of grace" through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Blessed Pope Pius IX proclaimed on December 8, 1854: "The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Saviour of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin." โ Catechism of the Catholic Church
๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ:
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son, grant, we pray, that, as you preserved her from every stain by virtue of the Death of your Son, which you foresaw, so, through her intercession, we, too, may be cleansed and admitted to your presence. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
O Mary conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to thee.

The First Sunday of Advent marks the new Liturgical Year. In today's Gospel, Jesus invites us to recognize the signs of the last days. This is a reminder that Advent is not just looking back at the first coming of Christ at Christmas, but our personal preparation for His Second Coming: "Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come."
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐:
Grant your faithful, we pray, almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with righteous deeds at his coming, so that, gathered at his right hand, they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Advent has a twofold character: first, it is a time to prepare for Christmas in which the First Coming of the Son of God to humanity is remembered; second, it is a time to anticipate the Second Coming of Christ at the end of time. Advent is a season of both excitement and solemnity, as we look forward to the future with joy and devotion.
As the season approaches, let us remember that we fast in the liturgy during this time to be ready for the Christmas feast.
Here are some reminders for Liturgical music during the Advent Season:
โข During Advent, musical instruments should be used in a way that aligns with the season's character, creating a contrast between the waiting period of Advent and the joyful time of Christmas. Simplifying musical arrangements and instrumentation is essential to avoid a festive atmosphere in the liturgy that fully anticipates the joy of the Birth of the Lord.
โข During Advent, the Gloria is not included in the liturgy to emphasize the season's anticipation character, reserving it for the festive season of Christmas.
โข The playing of instruments as solos is not permitted in Advent.
โAdvent, this powerful liturgical season that we are beginning, invites us to pause in silence to understand a presence. It is an invitation to understand that the individual events of the day are hints that God is giving us, signs of the attention he has for each one of us.โ -Pope Benedict XV

"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
-- Matthew 5:10
Brothers and sisters, today is Red Wednesday, a day of prayer and solidarity for persecuted and oppressed Christians all over the world.
Red Wednesday is an initiative by Aid to the Church in Need, a Catholic aid organization for war refugees founded in 1947. The initiative aims to raise awareness and offer prayers for all Christians, regardless of their denomination, who face persecution due to their faith.
In the Christian faith, red is the color of martyrdom and, according to studies, Christians continue to be the most persecuted faith group worldwide, especially in the Middle East and Africa. Red Wednesday is celebrated every Wednesday after the Solemnity of Christ, King of the Universe.
As one faithful community, let us pray for our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted and oppressed because of their relentless faith, that they may find warmth and solace in God's loving and compassionate embrace.

The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, formerly referred to as "Christ the King," was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 as an antidote to secularism, a way of life which leaves God out of man's thinking and living and organizes his life as if God did not exist. The feast is intended to proclaim in a striking and effective manner Christ's royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and nations.
Today's Mass establishes the titles for Christ's royalty over men: 1) Christ is God, the Creator of the universe and hence wields a supreme power over all things; "All things were created by Him"; 2) Christ is our Redeemer, He purchased us by His precious Blood, and made us His property and possession; 3) Christ is Head of the Church, "holding in all things the primacy"; 4) God bestowed upon Christ the nations of the world as His special possession and dominion.
PRAYER:
My glorious King of the Universe, You are perfect in all of Your ways. Your divine Law must reign in my heart and become the purpose of my life. As we honor Your kingship this day, I rededicate myself to You and submit more fully to Your sovereign control of my life. Please do with me what You will, and use me to help build Your Kingdom on earth. Amen.

Saint Cecilia was a Roman virgin martyr and is venerated as the patron of music and musicians.
Tradition tells us that Cecilia converted to Christianity and made a vow of virginity, but her parents forced her into marriage with a pagan nobleman named Valerian. On her wedding day, while instruments played, Cecilia sang to God in her heart. Itโs one of the reasons why Cecilia is known as the patroness of music, musicians, and poets.
She reminds us of the power of music to praise God and to bring comfort to those who are suffering. Her story helps us realize the power of utilizing art to transcend suffering, focus on beauty, and to connect us with God.
๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ:
O Eternal God, who gave us in the person of St. Cecilia, a powerful protectress, grant that after having faithfully passed our days like herself, in innocence and holiness, we may one day attain the land of beatitude, where in concert with her, we may praise you and bless you forevermore in eternity. Amen.

Today is the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls' Day). The Church, after celebrating the feast of All Saints, today prays for all who, in the purifying suffering of Purgatory, await the day they will join in heavenly glory. The celebration of the Mass, which re-presents the Sacrifice of Christ on Calvary, has always been the principal means by which the Church fulfills the great responsibility of charity toward the dead. Death cannot break the bonds of the Body of Christ. โDaily Roman Missal
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐:
Listen kindly to our prayers, O Lord, and, as our faith in your Son, raised from the dead, is deepened, so may our hope of resurrection for your departed servants also find new strength. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

As we honor all the saints in Heaven today, ponder the fact that you are called to be among their company. The extent to which you become holy while on earth is the extent to which your life will be an eternal glorification of God.
PRAYER:
All saints in Heaven, I thank you for the holy witness you each have given to the Church and rejoice in the blessings you now enjoy in Heaven. Please pray for me and for all people, that every one of us will become holy, bearing witness to Christ with our lives, and one day enter Heaven. Saints Peter and Paul are considered the foundational pillars of the Church. Peter represents the stability of the Church and the office of the Vicar of Christ. Paul represents the mission of evangelization that was entrusted to the Church by Jesus Himself.
Their twin martyrdom reminds us that the Church must be both stable and mission-oriented. It must remain grounded in the ancient Truth, yet grow and flower with an ongoing understanding of the mysteries of faith.
------------
PRAYER
Saints Peter and Paul, once Christ called you, you responded with total abandonment to His holy will. Through you, the Church was founded and began to grow. Please pray for us, that we will fully devote ourselves to the ongoing mission of the Church, so that God can use us according to His holy will. Amen.
