In celebration of the United Nations, we honor a global organization dedicated to peace, unity, and the betterment of all humankind. Founded in 1945 after the devastation of World War II, the UN works tirelessly to foster international cooperation on issues like human rights, environmental protection, and sustainable development. Today, people from every corner of the globe come together to reflect on the UN's achievements and to reaffirm a commitment to its ideals of justice, equality, and diplomacy. This week serves as a reminder that, despite differences, we share a common humanity and a collective responsibility to build a more peaceful and prosperous world for future generations.
This year's theme is: "Leaving no one behind: Acting Together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations". With this, the activities for this week's celebration are the following: poster making, flag making, recycled materials project, UN classroom decoration, cultural dance presentation, parade of nations, 'Taste of the Nations', and a quiz bee.
This school year, we’re thrilled to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month with activities designed especially for our young students in the Elementary Department! Each day, we’ll introduce them to concepts of feelings, self-care, kindness, and connection in ways that are fun, gentle, and engaging. We aim to help little ones recognize and talk about their emotions, build empathy, and start practicing healthy habits for a happy mind and heart.
Together, these activities will give kids the tools to better understand themselves and their feelings in a supportive and playful environment. Let’s create a space where they feel safe, loved, and free to express what’s on their mind! This month is all about nurturing little minds and big hearts, and we can’t wait to see their bright smiles as they explore the wonderful world of feelings.
Life as a high school student can be challenging, with pressures from academics, friendships, and planning for the future. Over the next several days this month, the Peer Facilitators Club has prepared the following activities for the High School Department.
Each day will bring unique opportunities to engage, from mindfulness workshops and mental health panels to physical wellness sessions and creative expression. Whether you're looking to learn more, connect with others, or find new ways to support your mental health, these weeks have something for everyone. Let’s use this month to be kind to ourselves and each other, to talk openly, and to work towards creating a school environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and understood.
Remember: there is no ‘right’ way to feel, and no one has to go through it alone. Together, we can build a supportive community, breaking the silence, and where mental health is a priority.
Through its Guidance and Counseling Office, Colegio Sto. Domingo brings you “Serenity Starts From Within: Awaken Your Senses, Nurture Your Soul”. Your Mental Health Awareness Month 2024 celebration this coming November!
Let's take this time to recognize the importance of mental well-being and break the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. Remember, it's okay to seek help, to talk about your feelings, and to prioritize self-care. Whether through meditation, therapy, connecting with loved ones, or simply taking a moment for yourself, every step counts.
This year’s theme is SERENITY. Serenity is not just the absence of stress but the presence of peace. It's about finding calmness in the chaos, quieting the mind even when life gets loud, and embracing stillness to rejuvenate the soul. In the rush of everyday life, may we learn to slow down, breathe deeply, and cherish the simple moments that bring us tranquility. Let serenity guide us as we navigate life's ups and downs, reminding us to let go of what we cannot control and nurture inner peace. This November, take a moment to pause, reconnect with yourself, and feel the quiet strength that comes from a calm mind and a gentle heart.
“I’ll never forget the way my heart sparked; till now I have this memory marked.”
Together we listen to and watch this music video by the High School Department.

Let’s watch Teacher Fe's message again and be reminded that life is a journey of a thousand moments, one year at a time. Together, we can, for we are fortified.
Through the musical play Jepoy and the Magic Circle, our students will be inspired to fulfill one of CSD's Core Values which is Environmental Stewardship. We can't wait for them to witness the magic this November through our SYNERGY Educational Tour.
Learn more about the musical through this comprehensive reveiw by Ms. Vance Ramos.
"The musical's production values are top-notch. The vibrant costumes, captivating sets, and enchanting puppetry create a visually stunning world. The original music by Ejay Yatco complements the storytelling and adds depth to the characters."

Preschool and Gradeschool families were tasked to create a family robot 🤖 using upcycled materials. They named their robots and listed traits that their robot "inherited" from each family member.
We applaud you dear parents for a job well done. Your robots slayed 😉! These incredible creations not only showcase your artistic talent but also highlight the importance of recycling and reusing materials to protect our planet.

As robots interact with animals, plants, and natural forces, the robot begins to develop traits we typically associate with living beings—curiosity, empathy, and a sense of belonging. These narratives, where robots are placed in unfamiliar environments, often mirror the human experience of navigating unknown territories, whether that be new cultures, different ecosystems, or unfamiliar social settings. They explore how resilience, learning, and the willingness to adapt are essential for survival, not just for humans, but for machines as well.
Ultimately, a robot in an unfamiliar environment becomes a symbol of growth, evolution, and the capacity to find one's place even in the most unexpected surroundings. It shows that adaptation and learning are universal, whether you're made of flesh or metal.
Is it the heart that beats or the connections that form through understanding, support, and care?
The Wild Robot cleverly blends science fiction with elements of the natural world, offering a heartwarming and thought-provoking narrative about how beings, whether mechanical or biological, can find their place in the world. Roz's journey from a cold, logical machine to a loving, protective figure challenges traditional notions of what robots are capable of, suggesting that even a machine can form meaningful relationships and adapt to a world vastly different from its original design.
Last Friday, we celebrated and honored the remarkable individuals who dedicate their lives to nurturing, guiding, and inspiring the next generation—our teachers. Teachers are not just educators; they are mentors, role models, and a constant source of support and encouragement. They open doors to new possibilities, ignite curiosity, and empower students to explore their potential and reach for the stars.
Teachers leave an indelible mark on the lives of our students in every lesson taught, every word of advice, and every small act of kindness. Their patience, passion, and unwavering commitment to fostering growth and learning go far beyond the walls of the classroom. They inspire confidence, cultivate creativity, and instill a lifelong love of learning that stays with the students long after they've left school. Last Friday, we recognize the countless hours they spend preparing lessons, the extra time they devote to helping students who struggle, and the many ways they shape them not only into better students but into better people. Teachers possess the unique ability to see potential where others might not and encourage us to believe in ourselves, even when the path seems difficult.
To all the teachers who have made a difference in our Colegian students' lives, we thank you. Your work is invaluable, and the impact you make is immeasurable. You are the true architects of our future, helping to build a world where knowledge, compassion, and understanding thrive. Happy Teachers' Day, Colegian Rockstars!
Last Tuesday, students put on their favorite pajamas as they took part in our Read, Dream, Fly event. We started the program with a whimsical parade where each one posed to their hearts’ delight while others cheered them on. During the day, they borrowed and bought each other’s books from our Hogwarts, Chocolate Factory and Oz booths.
We are happy with how enthusiastic our Colegians were as we re-introduced the magic that actual books can bring into their lives. Eyes lit up as they turned the pages and cozied up with their chosen books.
We thank all of you dear parents for the overwhelming support you have given. We are happy that many students earned by selling their pre-loved books. The books you have donated are now part of CSD’s school library and classroom libraries for other Colegians to enjoy.
Let us continue to work hand in hand to instill in our students that reading is not just a hobby, but a lifelong adventure that can sharpen their minds, improve their character and hence, bring them closer to their dreams!
