As an EMPLOYEE or OFW, what is the BEST WAY to BUILD YOUR FAMILY'S FINANCIAL FUTURE?

As a Financial Advisor, I always recommend this FINANCIAL SUCCESS FORMULA:

👉SAVE + INVEST + SECURE = SUCCESSFUL FINANCIAL FUTURE.

Saving money is not enough because inflation will beat you... So you need to INVEST.

But investing is also not enough. You need to PROTECT and SECURE the future of your children and spouse just in case something happens to you.

✅These three things are the best ways to build your family's financial future.

The GOOD NEWS right now is that you can do these things (SAVE + INVEST + SECURE) in a SINGLE FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT called VUL or Variable Unit Linked.

Are you interested to know more about VUL so you can BUILD YOUR FAMILY'S FINANCIAL FUTURE RIGHT AWAY?

Q&A with Chinkee Tan

(Zoom webinar on Term insurance vs Variable insurance, April 29, 2020, 4pm-5pm):

Q: I’m 40yo with 2 kids. Anong suggestion mo na bilin ko for my kids, term or VUL?
A: If u have excess money, you can buy policies for your kids. BUT if limited ang funds, protect yourself first. Insure yourself first. You always cover the breadwinner muna.
Same thing with insurance.

Q: What are the disciplines I need to build my emergency fund?
A: Believe me, automation is the key. Make a formula, a percentage formula. Ito yung ginagawa ko ever since I started earning:
50% of my monthly income goes to my basic expenses
25% of my monthly income goes to savings and investments and business
25% I spend kung saan ko gusto
Yan sinusunod ko, regardless of the amount of my income.

Q: Is it wise to have both term and VUL?
A: Complicated discussion ito ah. To make it simple, I have both. I have VUL para sa long term. But I also have term para lumaki pa coverage ko habang nag aaral mga anak ko ngayon. Lahat ng mortgages ko (car and home), nakacover yon through term insurance. So by that time, I can let go of my term insurances.

Q: I availed of VUL 3 yrs ago. Now the market is down. So my Fund Value is down by almost 30%. I’m worried.
A: Ano ba ang time horizon ng investment mo? Did you invest for just 3 years? Or for 10 years? It’s just the 3rd year. You won’t lose money until you sell. You’re not selling naman. So wag ka mabahala. You’re not losing any money now. Paper loss lang yan. Nasa 3rd year ka pa lang. Eh 10 years to pay yang plan mo diba, or even longer. In fact, this is the best time to add more premiums. Sabi ni Warren Buffet: when everyone is afraid, be greedy. When everyone is greedy, be afraid. When the market is down and there’s no business, be greedy; dun ka mag invest, dun ka bumili ng mga bahay na low-priced at bagsakan sa presyo. When the market is up and everybody’s happy, be afraid. That’s not a good time to invest.

————-

How to compute for your peace of mind (life insurance):
1. Multiply monthly expenses x 12
2. Add 0.

Sample:
P20k ang monthly expenses mo.
Multiply it by 12 (months).
It becomes P240,000.
Add 0.
It becomes P2,400,000.

Yan ang ideal life insurance coverage mo (worth 10 years of expenses mo, para magsurvive ang family mo for the next 10 years kahit wala ka na.)

———-

Final message
We’ve been through worse times: Pinatubo, Yolanda, earthquakes.
Keep the faith. We’re a resilient race.
What this covid made us realize is we can live on basic things.
For more than 40 days, all of us haven’t eaten in fancy restaurants or bought frappucino.
We now realize ano yung mga mas mahalagang bagay like health and family.

This is the time to adjust. How can I adapt? How can I adjust? How can I adjust my finances to this kind of lifestyle? How can I adjust my business?
Don’t refuse to change. If you do not change, you will die.
Don’t be afraid to re-invent.
This is the best time to think, to be creative. Ask God for guidance.
There are opportunities. Kailangan lang natin mag isip and be creative and be willing to experiment, to adjust, to change.

TSAKA NA LANG

I had a client before, Seaman. May training pa ako etc etc. Baka hinde ko pa kaya talaga.

I understand. Sir, you know what I had a client before nakita ko sa office nagbabayad. Naka two years na sya nung nagkita kami sa office. I congratulated her. I asked her what motivates her in investing for her future.

“Alam mo ba sir yung sukli ko sa load ko na 80 pesos tinatabi ko araw araw. Nilalagay ko sa garapon sa taas ng ref. Tapos ihuhulog ko after 30 days. Kasi sir Hinde kasalanan na pinanganak na mahirap. Pero kasalanan ko na kung mamatay pa akong mahirap.”

Sir alam mo b kung ano trabaho ng client ko na yun? Nag mamanicure pedicure sya. Sir Ano pong work niyo? Gusto ko lang marealize ninyo that you are blessed compared to most people. Sasayangin po ba natin ang pagkakataon? Or tsaka na lang?

Seaman: Paano ba ako magstart?

One of the products of Sun Life that majority of our rich clients get is Sun Smarter Life Elite. As its name suggests, it's smart and elite, just like how truly rich people are. This is because:

1. The insured is covered until age 100!
2. Its face amount doubles (meaning, the insurance coverage is 200%)
3. The policy earns dividends which you may use should you choose to: (a) increase your insurance coverage, (b) pay for future premiums,
(c) leave with Sun Life to accumulate, or (d) receive in cash.
4. You may take a loan against the policy's cash value.
5. You may also advance a portion of the Face Amount if insured is diagnosed with terminal illness.
6. Most of all, you receive lifetime GUARANTEED Cash Benefits! Yes, you read it right ... GUARANTEED cash endowment equivalent to 8% of the Face Amount from the 6th year of the policy and every other year thereafter, until age 100!

Now, this is how the rich and the wise maximize the benefits of this plan:

Usually, it's the Lolo/Lola or the Dad and Mom who are the owners and they get it for their young apos or children. As the owner of the policy, they get to enjoy the guaranteed cash endowments during their lifetime, and when they pass away, the benefits will now be enjoyed by the insured (the apos or the children) until age 100! This is 'what leaving a legacy' looks like -- your beneficiary gets to enjoy the harvest even long after you're gone.

This is also a great Retirement Plan especially for those who are in their 20's or 30's when premiums are still affordable. All they have to do is know how much they need/want as their monthly pension, and then invest the necessary amount to get exactly what they want each month (since it's guaranteed) when they retire.

Invest your money wisely!

3 REASONS WHY NEWLY WEDS 💍 NEED INSURANCE?

🔴 IT’S BETTER TO GET STARTED EARLIER
Mas maaga, mas mura. Insurance premium will increase with age kaya mas mahal habang tumatagal kung di ka pa kumukuha ng insurance. Rates are locked once you started.

🔴YOU’RE PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
This will determine your lifestyle as a family. This will take out the worry from both of you lalo na sa pagpapalaki ng pamilya.

Insurance will get your family covered. We'll never know, pero what if...

🔴 YOU’RE SHARING DEBT

While life insurance is important to ensure that your family is set up for the future, it should also be used to make sure the past won’t come back to haunt your survivors.

Remember that we grow every time we accept the hard lessons of life.

02/10/2019

In life, every person encounters a width of opportunities and problems, which must be prepared for.

As earning individuals, living from paycheck to paycheck, it is imperative to always improve the standards of financial literacy. Financial literacy deals so much with the discipline of restraint. Just the mere effort of thinking twice or thrice before spending on an impulsive purchase can save you money, and develop financial discipline in the long run.

🛑 Emergencies
As an unpredictable problem, emergencies can manifest in all sorts of ways, be it as a worker losing his job or a sudden health issue within the family, medical and utility bills can be a daunting task to pay off. This is why establishing an emergency fund while you’re earning is essential for survival and averting debt.

🛑 Retirement
Individuals who have started saving early for retirement have been reported to lead happier lives, with improved quality of living.

Saving up for retirement can be arranged with the help of your employer and your bank. There are retirement terms where each month is counted and compounded, so by the time retirement comes, you’ll have money to spend and invest.

Feeding a retirement fund is a positive opportunity where you can ask how much your present self is willing to give to your future self.

🛑 Education
Education presents itself as an opportunity for acquiring knowledge and getting acquainted with practitioners and professionals. Education allows yourself, or your children to get mentored and be surrounded by great people.

Being in the company of experts, a person can ask all questions, and volunteer for assignments.

As an investment, make the most of your money and tuition by forming professional relationships inside your university.

As an opportunity to save money, granted that you have the prerequisite skills and personality of an excellent pupil, apply for a scholarship and make the most of your stay in school.

A referral made by a professor can bring you places, forming friendships with children of business practitioners can also be fruitful in the long run.

🛑 Investments
Whether you’re thinking of buying a new car, finally settling down and buying a house, starting your own business (or franchise one), or whatever else you’re looking to spend a significant amount of money, you’re most likely going to need to save up to be able to afford it without wiping out all your current assets.

Opportunities for major investments only knock once. You’d be thankful you stopped yourself from spending your hard earned money on things that don’t return much.

When stock prices and cryptocurrency prices drop, it’s an opportunity to buy in. Think of all the opportunities an average person would miss because they didn’t start an investment expenditure fund.

There’s a saying, that in order to earn more, one must spend. With this saying, balance must always be maintained. When investing in a business, a property, or a capital expenditure pool, always bear in mind how much gains and losses you will be incurring.

Some businesses and investments fail because there are people who take losses for granted. They keep eyeing on gains.

Reminiscing our Sunlife journey on our 2nd anniversary as Sunlife Advisors. :) .

We received an anniversary email greetings from Sunlife PH president that made us reminisce the journey. So, 2nd year anniversay na pala namin ni hubby Neilvin Remo sa Sunlife and we have already realized how grateful we are to Sherwin Menard Mendoza for welcoming us sa kanyang team (Arcana River unit pa dati).

Back when cancer is not yet part of our history, Sherwin Menard Mendoza who is Neil's close fried shared the importance of being insured to us sa Nuvali, Sta. Well, he presented well, we believed what he shared but we did not prioritized kasi madami pa kami obligations, madami pang bills na dapat bayaran but nakaline-up sya. After around 5 months (April 2016) , cancer symptoms started then it was finally diagnosed in July 2016. Ang bilis diba?

Fast forward, we went through hard tough times emotionally, physically and financially and that's when we realized na sana sinunod namin si Sherwin, nag-umpisa na kami nong wala pa ako nararamdaman. Our difficult situation was witnessed by many including my bestfriend Carlota Rebamba who was with me sometimes during my treatment in MMC. I know from her sharing that this situation touched her para kumuha ng insurance para sa pamilya nya at mag-advisor din. Naalala ko pa nga non when she was comparing other insurance companies but she also ended with our team sa Sunlife.

Moving-on, naka-recover ako by God's grace when He touched His angels (they know who they are and they will be in my hearts forever). I don't know where I am now without those Angels. So, we approached Sherwin kung pwede ako magpa-insure.😅. hahaha. Kaya sabi namin sa kanya, sige magjo-join nalang kami sa Sunlife as advisors kasi gusto namin mag-share sa mga tao lalo na sa mga friends namin that insurance is important without knowing the benefits and income opportunities of being an advisor yet. He gave us the chance and the journey started.

Along the way, we had more realizations that increased our motivations.

1. Ayun nga, it started sa emotion na gusto lang namin mag-share because of our difficult experience.
2. Then, we realized the additional income that helps us financially.
3. Afterwards, we also realized madami na pala kami client na umaasa sa service na pinangako namin. Pag nawala license namin, we can't afford the feelings na we can't do anything to serve them kasi di na kami connected sa Sunlife. So, our existing clients are our new motivations who keep us moving forward. While we are sharing the importance of being insured and planning for uncertainties, we are earning at the same time and we are still able to serve the existing client's needs. :)
4. We are also inspired by our supportive and positive teammates and leaders.

We should never forget that above all of these, everything is because of our God. Before we recovered from the difficult situation and before we became part of Sunlife is the deep crying prayers to HIM to lead us the way. :) .

To all our clients, thank you for trusting us and Sunlife as your partners for your life goals and thank you for keeping us in this journey. :) .

P.S. Thanks for taking time to read and forgive for a long post. Happy Wednesday.
