A Prayer for the Philippines

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your divine guidance and intervention for our beloved Philippines. We pray for peace across our nation, that hearts and minds may be united in harmony and understanding.

Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and strength to be upon our political leaders. Grant them the clarity to lead with integrity, compassion, and justice, serving the needs of all citizens. We also lift up the political opposition, praying that they may engage in respectful dialogue and contribute constructively to our nation's growth and well-being.

In this time of calamity, we seek Your protection and comfort for those affected. May Your hand bring healing to our lands and restoration to communities devastated by natural disasters. Guide us in our efforts to rebuild and support one another.

We pray against the corruption that undermines our progress and the trust in our institutions. Help us to address this challenge with honesty and determination, working towards a government that is transparent and accountable to its people.

Lord, we entrust our children and families into Your care. Protect them from harm and provide them with opportunities for growth, education, and a future filled with hope and promise. May our homes be places of love, support, and unity.

We also pray for the West Philippine Sea, asking for peace and resolution in our territorial disputes. Grant wisdom to our leaders as they navigate these challenges, and help us to seek solutions that respect international law and promote regional stability.

In all things, we trust in Your divine plan and grace. May Your will be done in our lives and in our nation.

In Your holy name, we pray.

Amen.

PASTOR APOLLO C. QUIBOLOY SURRENDERS TO PNP/AFP TO PREVENT FURTHER VIOLENCE AT KOJC COMPOUND

Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy has officially surrendered to the PNP and AFP, citing his desire to prevent further violence at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Compound. According to Quiboloy, he could no longer bear to witness the ongoing suffering of his followers, which had persisted for several days.

For a time, Quiboloy had remained out of reach while awaiting the outcome of legal remedies being pursued by his legal team. However, he described a series of heart-wrenching and mind-boggling events that took place in the compound. What began with a warrant of arrest turned into a nightmare as the KOJC Compound was reportedly converted into a police garrison. The sacred KOJC Cathedral was desecrated, the JMC School was turned into a mining pit, and his followers were subjected to various brutalities, including arbitrary arrests and vehicle confiscations. One follower tragically lost their life, while many others were injured, leaving Quiboloy devastated.

Despite having the right to await the legal outcomes, Quiboloy made the ultimate decision to surrender. His choice was largely influenced by the efforts of Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib, Army Major General Allan Hambala, Colonel Guilbert Roy Ruiz, Lt. Col. Jovily Carmel Cabading, Lt. Col. Pete Malaluan, and Lt. Col. Ricardo "Ray" Garcia. In addition, the Honorable Police Officers led by General Romeo Macapaz, Major General Leo Francisco, Colonel Cholijun Caduyac, CIDG Colonel Mike Mangahis, Major Edgardo Bahan, Retired Colonel Emil Zosa, and, most notably, PNP Major General Benjamin Silo Jr., whose character, integrity, and honesty convinced Pastor Quiboloy to voluntarily submit himself to the law.

Determination mirrors the discipline of staying fit by running. It involves setting clear objectives, maintaining focus, and overcoming obstacles with unwavering perseverance. Just as runners balance intensity with rest to avoid burnout, determined individuals should blend effort with self-care. By embracing these principles, one can cultivate the fortitude needed to achieve their goals, much like a runner advancing steadily towards the finish line.

IF YOU ARE WONDERING?

If you are wondering about the current state of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), here’s what’s happening:

The CCP is undergoing a major rehabilitation project that started in 2023 and is expected to be completed by 2025. This project aims to modernize the infrastructure while keeping the iconic architecture intact. Improvements include enhanced performance venues, updated safety and environmental systems, and better accessibility features.

Despite the closure of the main building, the CCP remains committed to its cultural mission by hosting events in alternative venues and boosting its online presence. These efforts are part of CCP’s dedication to making arts and culture more accessible to a broader audience, extending its influence beyond Manila and into various regions of the Philippines.

Currently, in front of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), there's an intriguing display featuring used five-gallon water containers. This installation is part of the CCP's ongoing commitment to public art and cultural engagement, even as the main building undergoes extensive renovations. This display likely aims to highlight themes of sustainability, resourcefulness, and environmental awareness, resonating with contemporary global concerns about water usage and conservation. Such initiatives reflect the CCP's dedication to promoting cultural dialogue and education through innovative art forms.

Does this matter concerns national security and the integrity of local governance?
=======

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called for a thorough investigation into Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, focusing on her true identity after she failed to provide details about her early life and background during a Senate hearing.

During a media interview in Cagayan de Oro City on Thursday, Marcos expressed concerns about Guo’s rise to power, noting his unfamiliarity with her despite her holding a significant political position. He emphasized the need to uncover the truth behind the allegedly dubious documents related to her citizenship.

“Well, we have been investigating this for a long time, which is why she was caught. Because we raided Bamban and discovered documents. We are now questioning whether they are genuine, and how she could even run for mayor,” Marcos stated in Filipino.

Marcos highlighted his confusion over Guo's background, mentioning that despite his extensive knowledge of politicians in Tarlac, none were familiar with her. “So we are wondering where she came from. Why is this happening? We can’t figure it out,” he added.

Guo’s background came under scrutiny during a Senate probe into purported illicit activities at the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) center in Bamban. She went viral on social media after admitting to the Senate that she couldn’t recall details about her birthplace, the delayed registration of her birth, or specifics about her homeschool program.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, who led the May 7 hearing on the raided POGO compound in Bamban, suggested that Guo “came out of nowhere” to become mayor and speculated that she might be a “Chinese asset” attempting to infiltrate Philippine politics and government.

President Marcos stressed the importance of a collaborative investigation involving the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), and the Bureau of Immigration. “It really needs to be investigated. Along with the Bureau of Immigration, someone will probably question her citizenship. We will investigate all of this together with the Senate hearings,” Marcos said.

He underscored that the issue pertains to national security and the integrity of local governance. “The law is already there. We were not vigilant enough, that was the problem,” he noted. “And perhaps others neglected it. Because there’s a lot of money involved; they pay, they can bribe. So that’s what we’ll watch out for, to prevent this from happening again,” he added.

Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra mentioned that they are gathering information on Guo from various government agencies, including the Commission on Elections, DILG, Department of Education, Philippine Statistics Authority, and the Bureau of Immigration. Guevarra has formed a special team and indicated that if evidence supports it, the OSG will initiate quo warranto proceedings to remove Guo from office.

PARA MAKA MENOS KA SA KURYENTE

Ready kana? Set the air conditioner to 27 degrees Celsius and turn on the fan.

Japanese researchers found that combining an air conditioner set at 27 degrees Celsius (80.6 degrees Fahrenheit) with a fan makes the room feel cooler than just using the air conditioner at 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). Plus, it saves energy.

Here's why:

The combo increases air circulation, spreading cool air more evenly.
It cools people in the room better, even at a slightly higher temperature.
Using both saves energy compared to just using the air conditioner.
More perks of using both:

It reduces humidity for more comfortable air.
It's quieter than just the air conditioner.
It can extend the air conditioner's lifespan since it doesn't have to work as hard.
In short, using an air conditioner and a fan together is a smart, comfy, and efficient way to cool your home.

Good morning

Prayer can be a powerful thing for many people. It's a way to connect with something greater than ourselves, to express gratitude, ask for help, or find peace in difficult times. People from many different cultures and religions find comfort and strength in prayer. It's a way of expressing our hopes and desires, and for some, it can bring a sense of peace and clarity. Whether it's through silent reflection, reciting sacred words, or sharing thoughts with a higher power, prayer can be a deeply meaningful practice for those who believe in it.

Prayer is like talking to a special friend who you believe can help you with things or just listen when you're feeling happy or sad.

STOP POSTING!
Posting personal concerns on social media can sometimes backfire because not all problems are best solved publicly. For example, if you're having a disagreement with a friend, it's better to talk to them directly rather than airing your frustrations online.

Similarly, if you're dealing with a family issue, it's more constructive to address it within your family rather than broadcasting it to everyone on social media.

Personal problems often require a nuanced approach and personal attention from those involved, rather than seeking validation or advice from a large online audience who may not fully understand the situation.

Sometimes it is very challenging to stay positive in a negative situation.

In many instances, when we face these challenges, it becomes very easy to adopt a negative mindset and, in the process, blame everyone and everything for the world of problems happening in our lives or at our organization.

It's tough, I know, but that's what being a leader is all about, and that's why leadership is not for the faint at heart. Your leadership is tested in a crisis, and you can immediately deduce what kind of leader you are when facing challenging situations that stretch you to think beyond your comfort zone.

It's all a matter of mindset because, as the leader, you have to inspire your team to believe that everything will be okay, which is why being positive in a negative situation is not naive; it's leadership.

According to Christine Caine, to build a strong team, you must see someone else’s strength as a complement to your weakness, not a threat to your position or authority.

A “team” is not just people who work at the same time in the same place. A real team is a group of very different individuals who enjoy working together and who share a commitment to working cohesively to help the organization achieve its common goals and fulfill its purpose.

Being a part of a team and feeling support from your teammates is one of the best feelings one can have at work. When leaders recognize that their team is the organization’s most valuable resource, great things will happen; there’s power in a group of people who work together toward a shared goal.

This is what true support is all about. Supported teams are successful teams. Leaders are only as successful as their teams, and the great ones know that with the right team dynamics, decisions, and diverse personalities in place, everyone wins.
