Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome
Jn 2:13-22
Since the Passover of the Jews was near,
Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,
as well as the money-changers seated there.
He made a whip out of cords
and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,
and spilled the coins of the money-changers
and overturned their tables,
and to those who sold doves he said,
"Take these out of here,
and stop making my Father's house a marketplace."
His disciples recalled the words of Scripture,
Zeal for your house will consume me.
At this the Jews answered and said to him,
"What sign can you show us for doing this?"
Jesus answered and said to them,
"Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up."
The Jews said,
"This temple has been under construction for forty-six years,
and you will raise it up in three days?"
But he was speaking about the temple of his Body.
Therefore, when he was raised from the dead,
his disciples remembered that he had said this,
and they came to believe the Scripture
and the word Jesus had spoken.

LK 16:1-8
Jesus said to his disciples, โA rich man had a steward
who was reported to him for squandering his property.
He summoned him and said,
โWhat is this I hear about you?
Prepare a full account of your stewardship,
because you can no longer be my steward.โ
The steward said to himself, โWhat shall I do,
now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me?
I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg.
I know what I shall do so that,
when I am removed from the stewardship,
they may welcome me into their homes.โ
He called in his masterโs debtors one by one.
To the first he said, โHow much do you owe my master?โ
He replied, โOne hundred measures of olive oil.โ
He said to him, โHere is your promissory note.
Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.โ
Then to another he said, โAnd you, how much do you owe?โ
He replied, โOne hundred measures of wheat.โ
He said to him, โHere is your promissory note;
write one for eighty.โ
And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently.
For the children of this world
are more prudent in dealing with their own generation
than the children of light.โ

Wednesday of the 31st Week in Ordinary Time
LK 14:25-33
Great crowds were traveling with Jesus,
and he turned and addressed them,
โIf anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother,
wife and children, brothers and sisters,
and even his own life,
he cannot be my disciple.
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me
cannot be my disciple.
Which of you wishing to construct a tower
does not first sit down and calculate the cost
to see if there is enough for its completion?
Otherwise, after laying the foundation
and finding himself unable to finish the work
the onlookers should laugh at him and say,
โThis one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.โ
Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down
and decide whether with ten thousand troops
he can successfully oppose another king
advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops?
But if not, while he is still far away,
he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms.
In the same way,
everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions
cannot be my disciple.โ
Tuesday of the 31st Week in Ordinary Time
LK 14:15-24
One of those at table with Jesus said to him,
โBlessed is the one who will dine in the Kingdom of God.โ
He replied to him,
โA man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.
When the time for the dinner came,
he dispatched his servant to say to those invited,
โCome, everything is now ready.โ
But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves.
The first said to him,
โI have purchased a field and must go to examine it;
I ask you, consider me excused.โ
And another said, โI have purchased five yoke of oxen
and am on my way to evaluate them;
I ask you, consider me excused.โ
And another said, โI have just married a woman,
and therefore I cannot come.โ
The servant went and reported this to his master.
Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant,
โGo out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town
and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.โ
The servant reported, โSir, your orders have been carried out
and still there is room.โ
The master then ordered the servant,
โGo out to the highways and hedgerows
and make people come in that my home may be filled.
For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.โโ
Memorial of Saint Charles Borromeo, Bishop
Lk 14:12-14
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees.
He said to the host who invited him,
"When you hold a lunch or a dinner,
do not invite your friends or your brothers or sisters
or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors,
in case they may invite you back and you have repayment.
Rather, when you hold a banquet,
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;
blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.
For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mk 12:28b-34
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
"Which is the first of all the commandments?"
Jesus replied, "The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these."
The scribe said to him, "Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
'He is One and there is no other than he.'
And 'to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself'
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him,
"You are not far from the kingdom of God."
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls)
Jn 6:37-40
Jesus said to the crowds:
โEverything that the Father gives me will come to me,
and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,
because I came down from heaven not to do my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.
And this is the will of the one who sent me,
that I should not lose anything of what he gave me,
but that I should raise it on the last day.
For this is the will of my Father,
that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him
may have eternal life,
and I shall raise him on the last day.โ

ALL SOULS DAY
Today, we commemorate all the faithful departed. Let us pray to God for the peace of their souls, and may they attain eternal life in heaven.
Prayer
Merciful Father,
hear our prayers and console us.
As we renew our faith in your Son,
whom you raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in his resurrection,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
V. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
R. And let the perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS | NOVEMBER 01
Today, we celebrate the solemnity of all saints. Let us continue to pray to God for many saintly men and women who will inspire us to follow the call to holiness and vocation.
Prayer
Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
today we rejoice in the holy men and women
of every time and place.
May their prayers bring us your forgiveness and love.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
Thursday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time
LK 13:31-35
Some Pharisees came to Jesus and said,
โGo away, leave this area because Herod wants to kill you.โ
He replied, โGo and tell that fox,
โBehold, I cast out demons and I perform healings today and tomorrow,
and on the third day I accomplish my purpose.
Yet I must continue on my way today, tomorrow, and the following day,
for it is impossible that a prophet should die
outside of Jerusalem.โ
โJerusalem, Jerusalem,
you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,
how many times I yearned to gather your children together
as a hen gathers her brood under her wings,
but you were unwilling!
Behold, your house will be abandoned.
But I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say,
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.โ
Tuesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time
LK 13:18-21
Jesus said, โWhat is the Kingdom of God like?
To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden.
When it was fully grown, it became a large bush
and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.โ
Again he said, โTo what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?
It is like yeast that a woman took
and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch of dough was leavened.โ
