PWEDE! Pero paano pananatilihing HEALTHY ang iyong IHAW-IHAW? ❤️

Ang SOBRANG NAIHAW o NASUNOG na KARNE/TABA ay maaaring magdulot ng produksyon ng HETEROCYCLIC AMINES (HCAs) at POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONs (PAHs), mga kemikal na carcinogenic o maaaring magdulot ng cancer.

Pero HINDI ibig-sabihin na bawal na mag-ihaw. Pwede pa rin at narito ang ilang HEALTHY IHAW-IHAW TIPS para makatulong makaiwas sa cancer:

🔥 Piliin ang tamang karne. Mas mainam ang presko kaysa processed na karne tulad ng hotdog at sausage. Mas mainam din ang mas maninipis o maliliit na hiwa ng karne, lalo na iyong kaunti lang ang taba.

🔥 I-marinate ang karne bago ihawin. Kung gagamit ng matamis na sauce na ipapahid sa barbecue, ilagay lamang ito kapag patapos na ang pag-iihaw para hindi ito masunog.

🔥 Iwasang masunog at magkaroon ng mga itim-itim na bahagi ang iniihaw. Pinakamataas ang lebel ng carcinogens sa sunog na karne. Bali-baliktarin nang maigi ang iniihaw. Makakatulong din ang paglalagay ng aluminum foil sa pagitan ng barbecue grill at iniihaw na karne.

🔥 Kung ikaw ay hindi naman nag-iihaw pero kakain ng barbecue, tanggalin ang mga sunog o itim-itim na bahagi bago ito kainin.

Why Teleconsult? and what’s the New Normal?

The COVID 19 pandemic brought a lot of changes on the way we practice Medicine. Placing everyone’s safety as our top priority, the practice of actual face to face clinic consultation hasn’t been done for some time now. Our hospital and clinic administrators are implementing measures to ensure our safety but at the moment, our health experts still suggest community quarantine as the best way for us to successfully go through this pandemic alive and healthy.

As much as we want to continue seeing patients face to face at our clinics, the present situation won’t allow that to happen in most cases. We also see that some of our patients can be managed adequately with telemedicine.

In telemedicine, proper clinical management can be given by analysis of the patient’s clinical history of symptoms, the results of laboratory tests, and other significant details.

Physical examination is admittedly limited and may be inadequate because we may mostly rely upon images seen on photographs sent to us for viewing, recorded videos or live videos during a video conference.

Based on the patient’s story, the physical exam and the test results, we can still come up with a diagnosis and a clinical management.

We discuss with the patient our clinical diagnosis, our bases for such, or our considerations if we haven’t really came up with one diagnosis yet, our plan of work up in case it’s needed, and our treatment plan.

We send the test requests and our prescriptions through email, Messenger or Viber.

We may advice a follow up, if needed.

We still see some patients in the clinic after initial teleconsultation and proper screening, in case we really see the need for an actual physical consultation, but this pandemic experience brought about the so-called new normal.

We have made changes on our clinic set ups to make them safe for the patient, the accompanying person, the secretary and the doctor.

We require the use of face masks with or without face shields for the patient and accompanying person.

We provide hand disinfectant at the doorstep.

We practice physical or social distancing inside the clinic by labelling the seating area at the waiting room and the place where one would stand as they transact with the secretary.

We limit the number of people at the waiting room.

We allow another person to accompany the patient only if he or she would require physical assistance for ambulation or other special needs. This should be communicated and cleared with us before the scheduled appointment. Otherwise, only the patient would be allowed to enter the clinic.

We encourage patients to be ready with the list of their symptoms or concerns, a photocopy of test results and a list of their questions so as to make the actual consult as quick as possible.

If they can send us a copy of their test results in advance through our email or this page Messenger service, then that would be better, so as to also limit the use of paper documents which may have the potential to contain the virus.

Prescriptions may be given either during the actual consult or may be sent through email, Messenger or Viber. Medical certificates and similar documents would be sent through the platforms or applications mentioned above. The goal for this is to further reduce the actual contact time between the patient and the doctor, and the patient’s duration of exposure to the environment outside the home.

All of the processes that we go through as this health crisis evolves are also evolving. We may have some changes as we go along, so we encourage everyone to be open to such changes.
