JUST IN: Good news for consumers of Visayan Electric. Power rates will be down by P2.43 per kilowatt hour for ordinary households.

From the existing P12.14 per KWH, the new rate will now be P9.71 per KWH for June-July billing.

This would mean savings of at least P480 for ordinary household that has a monthly consumption of 200 KW per month.

According to Visayan Electric President and COO Raul Lucero, the decrease in the power rates was because of the June 13 order from the Energy Regulatory Commission allowing the four-month installment of payments to the Wholesale Electric Spot Market (WESM). Therefore, Visayan Electric will not have to pay in full for the electricity they buy from WESM.
