CoM-VMY CIC Cebu
"To Jesus with Mary."
With grateful hearts, we would like to give our warmest congratulations to the Children of Mary-Vincentian Marian Youth Archdiocese of Cebu on this joyous occasion of celebrating their 118th Anniversary! π
This remarkable milestone is a testament of the COM-VMY Archdiocese of Cebu and the COM-VMY Cebu unit members of their enduring commitment and devotion to our Blessed Mother. The unwavering faith to the Blessed Virgin Mary serve as an inspiration to us all.
May the love of God and the devotion to our Blessed Mother, continuously grace us with even greater blessings and opportunities to inspire the young in living out the virtues and values of Mother Mary. Together, as one family, let us continue to journey together as we joyfully proclaim "To Jesus with Mary!" πππ
Happy Feast Day, St. Vincent de Paul! π
St. Vincent de Paul dedicated his life to serving the less fortunate, recognizing that "The love of God is hidden in the poor." These profound words serve as a guiding light, a call to action for each of us. They remind us that within the hearts of those we may consider less privileged, we can find a divine love that unites us all.
As we reflect on his legacy, we are reminded that the true essence of spirituality lies not in grand gestures, but in the simplicity of selfless service.
May the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul continue to inspire us to make a positive impact, and may we always remember that the love of God is indeed hidden in the poor. ππ»π€
Happy Birthday to our beloved Mama Mary! π₯³π
May your grace and goodness lead and inspire us to be closer to Jesus as we become empowered to journey with others in communion, participation and mission.

Jesus is risen! Alleluia! ππ
Easter Sunday is the greatest and most important feast in the Church, for it highlights the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ who overcame death to give us new life. It is the season of eternal hope which reminds us how life is truly worth living.
It is an essential event as it signifies the testament of God's triumph over death and sin. It shows that death is not the end, and that there is hope for eternal life and redemption from sin.
As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, let the solemnity of Easter Sunday remind us on the importance of living a life rooted in faith, love and service to others. Let us share the message of hope and salvation from sin by being a catalyst of God's love in the world. Through the resurrection of Jesus, may we find solace, hope, and joy, knowing that God's love is with us always. π
Happy Easter! π
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Easter filled with joy and blessings. π
To Jesus with Mary! ππ§‘
In the silence of Black Saturday, let us silently meditate, in the atmosphere of prayer, the life of Jesus after His death as we eagerly await for His glorious resurrection.
Let us reflect on the times when it seems like God is absent in our lives, when we feel like we are left out, that there is a need for us to hope and pray fervently, knowing that there is something good waiting for us, even in the darkness. π
As Jesus hung on the cross, he uttered seven last words of great meaning to those contemplating his passion and death.
Today, on Good Friday, we remember his Seven Last Words. With these words, He forgives His enemies, forgives the penitent thief, cries out to God, and declares the end of His earthly life.
Here are seven short reflections based on the seven last words of our Lord that you can apply in your daily life:
(1) Forgive others.
(2) Heaven is real.
(3) Take care of your parents and loved ones.
(4) Express your heart to God.
(5) Be thirsty for the living water --- Jesus Christ.
(6) Don't give up. Finish it!
(7) Place your life in God's hands.
May these short reflections make you feel closer to God and remind you that He is always with you, even in your darkest days. π
On Good Friday, we commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. His death on the cross paved the way for the salvation of our sins. Jesus would bear our sins, taking the whole darkness of human history and cosmic chaos, and die under their weight. His passion and death is a symbol of God's unconditional love in action.
How difficult it is, to even begin to think about the passion and suffering our Lord has endured. It is on this day that many of us would listen and reflect on the Seven Last Words of Jesus and attend the Veneration of the Cross to show our deep faith and gratitude. One by one, each person makes a profound statement of their love for Jesus in their own unique way.
As we wait at the cross, and bring with us the darkness of our sins, the feelings of negativity, of insecurity and of our own suffering or the sufferings of others, we place them all at the feet of Jesus. It is at the foot of the cross, that we find the sign of our hope and the faithfulness of God-in-Christ, crucified. Despite our own sinfulness, there is no greater love than that of our Savior. β
May we take time today to honor the unconditional love and ultimate sacrifice our Lord has done by walking in forgiveness, charity and sacrifice in our daily lives. May Christ's love for us inspire us to live in grace-filled abundance as we strive to become better persons worthy of His love and mercy. π
As we celebrate the solemnity of Holy Thursday, here are some interesting trivia about this Holy and important day:
The Last Supper - Holy Thursday celebrates the institution of the Eucharist as Jesusβ body and blood. It is at this supper, in the presence of his closest companions, that Jesus offers himself as the Passover sacrifice. Jesus gives his greatest gift in the sacrament of the Eucharist, a gift that makes us sharers in his body and blood, unified to form one single body.
The Washing of the Feet - During the Last Supper, Jesus demonstrates His unconditional and unifying love through this humble act. The Gospel says he rises from the table, takes a towel, and ties it around his waist (Jn 13:4). He then begins to wash the feet of his disciples, one by one. Through this, He humbled himself to share in our humanity and He became more intimate and self-humbling than ever before to show us the kind of love that we need to follow. On this first day of the Paschal Triduum, we recognize Godβs unfailing gift of undeserved, unconditional, and unifying love for us. This love has the power to embolden every human heart and calls us to do the same. Let us ask for the grace to respond to Godβs call to love one another accordingly.
Visita Iglesia (The Visitation of Seven Churches) - The Visita Iglesia is a pious Roman Catholic Lenten tradition to visit seven churches on Maundy Thursday. The number seven mainly signifies the seven holy sites related to Jesus' arrest and trial. These include: (1) The Garden of Gethsemane, (2) The House of Annas, (3) The Tribunal of Caiphas, the High Priest, (4) The Trial before Pilate, (5) The Trial before Herod, (6) From Herod back to Pilate and (7) From Pilate to Golgotha (Calvary). Through this tradition, we share in the night of Jesus suffering and passion as He gave Himself willingly to save us from our own sinfulness. π
Today, we solemnly begin the Paschal Triduum celebration which commemorates the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. This three day celebration begins on Maundy Thursday where we witness the Institution of the Holy Eucharist through the Last Supper of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Throughout the celebration of the Mass, two ritual actions stand out among the rest. These are the washing of the feet and the procession of the Holy Eucharist.
At the conclusion of the Holy Thursday celebration, there is no concluding prayer. Once the celebration of the Eucharist is completed, there is a Eucharistic Procession (where the Eucharist that is left from Communion is processed to a Chapel of Reservation). This procession to the Chapel of Reservation reminds us of Jesusβ time in the garden of Gethsemane when he prayed so fervently through the night.
The entire community is invited to join in this procession and then join in the silent prayer and adoration until the night prayer is prayed and the Eucharist is put in the Tabernacle. The gathered community leaves in silence only to return in prayer the next day for the Good Friday celebration.
As we begin this Paschal Triduum through this Holy Thursday celebration, we are reminded of who we are in Jesus Christ and that, through the sacrament of the Eucharist, we are and we become even more the Body of Christ together.
May today's solemn moment continually inspire us to love and serve one another in the same way that Jesus did --- with kindness and humility. βοΈππ
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. It commemorates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. His entry in to the city begins on a huge wave of optimism, joy and hope. The people line the streets; they wave palms, they put their cloaks and garments on the ground and they shout out his name as homage.
In today's times, this is celebrated through the blessing of the palms. These palms are treated as holy objects where it can be placed at home in the altars and will be later used by the Church to create ashes that will be used for Ash Wednesday.
During the Eucharistic Celebration, the Gospel of the Passion of Our Lord is being read. It is quite a great contrast as we move from accompanying Jesus' entry as the Messiah towards His passion and death on the Cross to give us new life. His suffering recounts the extent to which He has willingly offered himself fully as a gift for us.
As we begin the Holy Week, let us be reminded of the unconditional love and sacrifice of our Lord who laid down His life to save us from our sins. Let us devote ourselves in prayer, fasting and abstinence as we enter in the mystery of Jesus' passion and death with hope, gratitude and faith in our hearts. πππ
As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, let us be reminded and inspired by the fiat of Our Mother Mary as we deepen our faith and love in responding to God's mission and living faithfully our Christian lives.
Let us also take this moment to be inspired by the Daughters of Charity in the celebration of their renovation as they continuously say "Yes" to the mission just like our Blessed Mother. π
To Jesus with Mary! π
The Sto. NiΓ±o is venerated by many Filipino Catholics as a miraculous image. It is a symbol that is connected to the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines.
The Sto. NiΓ±o was given as a gift by the Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan to Rajah Humabon and his wife when he landed in the Philippines in 1521. This event depicted the first baptism in the country. Through the years, the natives worshiped the image of the Child Jesus and formed practices including dance rituals and religious ceremonies. This became known as the "Sinulog".
Sinulog comes from the Cebuano word "Sulog" which means movement like that of the river current. It is a nod to the dance steps used during rituals devoted to the Sto. NiΓ±o. Based on historical accounts, the dance steps originated from Baladhay, Rajah Humabonβs adviser, who was found dancing and shouting right after being βcured of his sicknessβ by the image of the Sto. NiΓ±o.
As we celebrate the feast of the Sto. NiΓ±o, may we continue to journey with Him in our walk of faith for He is the true source of hope, love, peace and gratitude in our lives. π
Viva Senyor Sto. NiΓ±o! Viva Pit Senyor! π
Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. The "Epiphany" is the manifestation of Jesus as the Messiah and the Son of God to the world. We honor this moment in time as Jesus made manifest to the world as he was revealed to the Magi from the East.
May we seek out Jesus within our own hearts and respond to Him with faith, worship and devotion as we follow the example of the Magi in offering our love and adoration. π
