The crucial difference between SMILE and SMILE PRO is the laser time.
Once the patient is already lying in the OR room, they tend to feel anxious, and the 26s laser time is too long for them to stay put. If the patient moves his or her head within the laser time, the machine stops and there's a possibility of converting to LASIK.
With SMILEpro, that chance of converting is reduced, since the laser time is down to 9 seconds. The moment the patient thinks of moving his/her head,, the laser is already done.
