This year's theme, "Pagpaparangal sa Kagitingan ng mga Beterano: Saligan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino," reminds us of their sacrifice and bravery. Their legacy inspires us to find our inner heroes and come together as one to overcome present-day challenges.

Municipality of Concepcion 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 (𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟏 – 𝟑𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐4). This month-long observance aims to increase and strengthen the awareness of the public and to correct their misconceptions on rabies management/ treatment and washing of the affected area with soap and running water is important to decrease the risk of infection and immediate consultation at the Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) should be done.

𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐨.𝟖𝟒, 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟗 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡. Rabies is a human infection that occurs after a transdermal bite or scratch by an infected animal, like dogs and cats. It can be transmitted when infectious material, usually saliva, comes into direct contact with a victim’s fresh skin lesions. Rabies may also occur, though in very rare cases, through inhalation of virus-containing spray or through organ transplants.

Rabies is considered to be a neglected disease, which is 100% fatal though 100% preventable. It is not among the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the country but it is regarded as a significant public health problem because (1) it is one of the most acutely fatal infection and (2) it is responsible for the death of 200-300 Filipinos annually.

Rabies awareness and advocacy campaign is a year round activity highlighted on 2 occasions: March – the Rabies awareness month and September 28 – World Rabies Day. The campaign focuses on three target audiences; 𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀– to have their dogs registered and vaccinated; 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘀- to practice immediate washing of bites with soap and water for at least 10 minutes and receive appropriate Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) if need from trained health workers and not from traditional healers; and lastly Legislators, Local Chief Executives (LCEs), NGO’s Pos and other stakeholders to implement (LCEs) and support a comprehensive rabies prevention and control program.

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our new Coast Guard Substation Commander, CPO Tolits B. Tolentino. Yesterday, March 20, 2024, CPO Tolentino made his courtesy call to Municipal Mayor Milliard S. Villanueva, marking the beginning of his tenure.

Let's extend our warmest greetings and support to CPO Tolentino as he takes the helm of our substation. His dedication and leadership will undoubtedly steer us to greater heights.

We also bid farewell and express our gratitude to CG CPO Cymar Orpeza for his service as the previous commander. CG CPO Orpeza has been reassigned to the Coast Guard Substation Banate, where we know he will continue to excel.

In a showdown of athletic prowess, 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 and 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 emerged as champions in the 5th Congressional District Sports Associaiton (CDSA) Meet 2024. Carles dominated the elementary category, while Estancia claimed victory in the secondary division.

Congratulations to all participating municipalities for their spirited performances and dedication to sports development. Your commitment exemplifies the true spirit of sportsmanship and community engagement.

In an extraordinary display of talent and dedication, St. Mary the Anawim of God Institute (SMAGI) has not only secured 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 in the 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗸𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and 𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 categories but has also clinched several other prestigious awards in this year's Private Schools and School Administrators Association of the Philippines - Region 6 (PRISSAAP VI) competition at Punta Villa Resort, Iloilo City.

Alongside their triumphs in Folkdance and Hiphop, SMAGI added more accolades to their name:

A Mass Civil Wedding, sponsored by the Local Government of Concepcion led by Mayor Milliard S. Villanueva, along with the Municipal Civil Registrar Office under the leadership of Constancio S. Suiza, Jr., took place today (February 21, 2024) at the Concepcion Municipal Sports and Cultural Center.

Love and happiness filled the air as we kicked off the celebration of our 152nd Foundation Day, with 23 couples sealing their vows with a sweet kiss. This event showcases LGU's dedication to its constituents' welfare, emphasizing the importance of family and promoting a society built on love and strong relationships.

Congratulations to all the newly-weds!

Ang maragtas nagahambal nga mas naulihi na natawohan ang naaminhan-sidlangan (northeastern) nga bahin sang Iloilo kumpara sa iban pa nga mga bahin sini. Isa sa mga timprano pa nga natawohan amo ang lugar sang Bacjauan, amo ini ang una nga pangalan sang banwa sang Concepcion (we will discuss more about this on February 22). Ang mga tawo sa nasambit nga lugar ang naga-puyo malapit sa baybayon nga nagaatubang sa grupo sang mga magamay nga isla nga gintawag “Silanga Archipelago.”

Sang Hulyo 28, 1856, si Nicholas Loney, ang una nga “English Vice Consul” sa Iloilo, ang nag-agi sa Silanga kag iya ginhambal: “a series of green islands of great beauty enclosing an almost unruffled sea”. Sa daw halos amo man nga tion, ginpangalanan sang mga Kastila ang bukid sang Manaphag nga 𝗣𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝘇𝘂𝗰𝗮𝗿 tungod sa iya mataas kag “conical” nga itsura ukon korte nga daw kaangay gid sang 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗳 sang “early 19th century.”

Ang sugarloaf amo ang kinaandan nga hurma sang “refined sugar” sang una, hasta nga nag-abot ang “late 19th century” kag ginpakilala na ang “granulated and cube sugars” sa kadam-an.

Sang amo to nga tyempo, nangin bantog ang banwa sang Concepcion bilang lugar kung sa diin gina-priso ang mga Pinoy nga mga bilanggo, gina-usok sang pag-antos, ginapangbitay kag ginapamatay sa mabudlay kag masakit ipaathag nga mga pamaagi. Ang banwa sang Concepcion ang buhi nga testamento sa kung ano kapintas ang anay nga mga Kastila.

Pero base sa isa ka balasahon, ang ulihi nga Kastila nga nagserbisyo bilang komandante sa banwa sang Concepcion nga si 𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗢𝗟𝗜 ang nangin kilala bangod sa iya matuod nga kahanuklog (empathy), simpatiya kag kabuot - rason kung ngaa siya ang ginpalangga gid sang mga anay residente sang Concepcion.

Sang 1898, sang nangin madinalag-on ang “Philippine Revolution”, gin-surrender ni Paoli ang banwa sang Concepcion sa mga rebolusyonaryo nga ginapangunahan ni Gen. Perfecto Publador. Ginapatihan nga pagkadaug sang “Philippine Revolution”, wala na nagpakig-away pa si Paoli kag gilayon nga ginhatag nalang ang Concepcion sa mga rebolusyonaryo bangod indi niya gusto nga may mapatay pa sa iya mga tinawo kag sa mga residente sang banwa sang Concepcion.
