On July 19, 2024, the 16th Regional Community Defense Group-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (16RCDG-BARMM) achieved a significant milestone by commencing the ROTC Summer Camp Training (RSCT-MS 3) Class 01-2024 and Advance ROTC Academic Phase (ARAPT 41-42) Class 01-2024. The grand opening ceremony took place at the newly constructed Multi-Purpose Hall of Headquarters 16RCDG-BARMM in PC Hill, RH 1, Cotabato City.

Colonel Markton G. Abo INF (GSC) PA, the esteemed Group Commander of 16RCDG-BARMM, delivered an inspiring keynote address during the event. The 1603rd Community Defense Center (CDC), 16th Reserve Command Philippine Army (P), BARMM, RESCOM PA, successfully spearheaded the second Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI) of the Sulu State College ROTC Unit, which is affiliated with the Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trade (HBSAT).
On June 1, 2024, the RAATI Team from the 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division, led by the Chairman of the RAATI Team, COL JOSE EMMANUEL L MARIANO MNSA (INF) PA, ADCRRA, 11ID, PA, conducted a thorough and comprehensive inspection. The focus of this inspection was to assess the administrative efficiency, training management, proficiency, and overall quality of training achieved by the Corps of Cadets.
Under the supervision of MAJ JONATHAN D VALENZUELA. Director of the 1603rd CDC,16RCDG (P), BARMM, RESCOM, PA the ROTC units of Sulu State College and the Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trade, successfully completed the inspection at the Sulu State College parade ground in Patikul, Sulu.
The RAATI inspection results were exceptional, with the units receiving high marks across various evaluation criteria. COL Mariano commended the ROTC Cadets for their outstanding performance, reflecting the high standards of training and discipline instilled by their instructors.
The successful completion of the RAATI not only highlights the ROTC units' dedication to excellence but also reinforces their commitment to producing well-trained and proficient cadets, ready to serve and contribute to the nation's defense.

**Mayor Bruce Matabalao Secures Prestigious Venue for Mutya ng Kutawato 2024**

On May 30, 2024, Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao successfully arranged for the use of the Headquarters of the 16th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG) for the photo and video sessions of the Mutya ng Kutawato 2024. Recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the venue, Mayor Matabalao believed it would provide an ideal backdrop for showcasing the beauty and heritage of Cotabato City. He formally requested the use of the venue from COL MARKTON G ABO (GSC) INF PA the Regional Commander of the 16th RCDG, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), RESCOM, PA. The entire day's event was a resounding success, leaving the organizers deeply impressed with the venue's impact on their activities.

Following the day's events, a photo opportunity was held at the office of the Group Commander, COL ABO. The organizers were thrilled with how the location enhanced their activities and provided a fitting backdrop for the candidates. The session highlighted the collaborative efforts between the city government and the military, showcasing the unity and shared cultural heritage of Cotabato City. The event was attended by the staff officer from the 16th RCDG BARMM, led by MAJ AGPAOA, the Executive Officer, MAJ JAQUE, the Group S1 Admin Officer, MAJ GUIAMADIL, the S7 CMO Officer, and MAJ BOHOL, the Group S4 Logistic Officer. These officers, along with the tourism staff of Cotabato City, seized the opportunity to be photographed with the 13 stunning candidates of Mutya ng Kutawato 2024.

The objective of Mutya ng Kutawato is to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage and beauty of Cotabato City. By selecting a venue of significant historical and cultural value, the organizers aim to instill pride in the city's heritage among its residents and visitors.
