Great news! Skip's Beach Resort now has electricity restored. All rooms have air conditioning and all the rooms sold with electric hot water have it.

We are also installing a new Internet system on Tuesday, December 24. We should have Internet in the common areas by Tuesday afternoon.

Update 16 November, 2013:

Skip's Beach Resort suffered moderate damage from super typhoon Yolanda. The windows were blown out and some of the outbuildings are partially missing roofs. But the important thing is that all our staff, family, friends and guests survived unharmed. At the time of the typhoon we had guests at the resort and we all huddled together in a closet with no windows. It was terrifying to hear the glass flying inside and trees snapping outside, but it could have been worse.

We are now slowly rebuilding, and we do remain open during this time, however we still have no power or Internet. So if you were planning a visit soon you might want to delay your trip. No one will be turned away though if you have an adventurous spirit.

Lots of people have asked what they can do to help. Skip's has no immediate need for assistance, however most people here are not so lucky. We encourage anyone who wants to help with the relief effort to donate to the Philippines Red Cross by credit card or PayPal. You can donate specifically for super typhoon Yolanda efforts by choosing it from the campaign list here:

To all friends, family and guests of Skip's Beach Resort, regarding Super Typhoon Haiyan...

We have just received our first reports from the resort and everyone is doing fine. There has been some property damage but we don't know the extent yet. The important thing is that all the staff and their families are doing good.

Communications to the area are still out so we don't have photos or more details at this time. We hope to bring you more details in a couple of days.
