The 7th floor of the NAB Conference Center at PCU Cavite bustled with anticipation as the university community gathered for a significant general orientation. The event, which brought together students, faculty, and staff, was marked by inspiring messages, important announcements, and a strong emphasis on the power of preparation and perseverance.
The orientation opened with the Message of Life from Rev. Dr. Noel P. Adriano, of the University Chaplaincy Center, who highlighted the importance of preparation in seizing opportunities. "Kung ayaw natin ma-miss ‘yung mga opportunities, kailangan natin yakapin ang paghahanda at pagsisimula," he stated, emphasizing that preparation reduces anxiety and stress while increasing the chances of success. He reinforced his point with a timeless quote from Benjamin Franklin: "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."
It was then followed by the entrance of colors and a heartfelt performance from PCU-D Chorale performing the National Anthem, bringing color to the event.
Dean Dr. Eileen A. Enriquez, the acting dean of colleges, followed with opening remarks and an inspirational message, encouraging everyone to embark on a shared journey toward success. "Sabay-sabay tayong maglayag patungo sa tagumpay. Wag kayong matatakot sumabay sa alon ng buhay. Kayang-kaya niyong su-unguin ang hamon na iyon," she said, urging students to face life's challenges head-on and with confidence.
A brief intermission featured a performance by Vianna Mae S. Ricafranca, a CHTM student, adding a touch of entertainment to the proceedings.
The event also focused on student welfare with Dr. Romelyn C. Saul, RGC, RPm, LPT, of the Student Support Office (SSO) reassuring students that the Guidance Office is always open to accommodate their needs. "Our guidance office is more than open to accommodating our college students," she affirmed, highlighting the university's commitment to student support.
In an important segment, Dr. Emeliza E. Cosio, LPT, Coordinator for the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), discussed the Student Code of Conduct to ensure that all students are aware of the rules and regulations that govern their behavior on campus.
Finally, Ma’am Rowena F. Lopez, MBA, of the Campus Registrar delivered a motivational message, reminding everyone that "the future depends on what you're doing right now," while Dr. Francis Christie C. Arnado, LPT, a Data Privacy Officer, emphasized the importance of awareness, quoting, "Ignorance of the law does not excuse you."
The assembly concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and determination among attendees, inspired by the powerful messages imparted by the university's leadership. As the event wrapped up, the overarching theme was clear: success is within reach for those who prepare, persevere, and embrace the challenges that come their way.

The new CAHEO officers already faced challenges even before they took their rightful seat in the office of the engineering department as student leaders. Complications during the election arose but after two months of vigorous communication with their department with the support of the Student Electoral Commission (SEC), they finally claimed their positions, last Monday, July 29, 2024.
The quick program was organized by SEC headed by their chairman, Mr. Karlo Wilberto P. Dagami, and Maria Emilie R. Enolva their Deputy Publicity Officer who excitedly welcomed the new set of CAHEO officers as they took their oath led by Dr. Romilyn Saul and Dr. Emeliza Cosio.
Ms. Andrea Merlyn, former CAHEO Secretary, then shared insights and experiences during their term and offered a helping hand to the new officers as their senior, leaving a remark "nandito pa rin naman kami, hindi kami mawawala".
Dr. Mario S. Mecate the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and Mr. Rommel D. Trinidad, CAHEO's adviser both expressed their expectations for the new officers. With their expectations at height, they also offered heartwarming support for the officers on whichever their projects may be, as long as it helps the Engineering students.
Not long after, Mr. Matthew Adante, USG President arrived and gave a humble speech to motivate the student leaders to build bridges and connection to the studentry. “Kayo ang literal na mag-bi-build ng bridge”, Mr. Dagami said jokingly marking the program's end. The heavy challenge came around and ended with a light-hearted joke.

𝗢𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿

On March 15, 2024, the Student Electoral Commission, along with other academic and non-academic organizations within the institution, participated in the Servant Leadership Training held at Agape Springs in Piela, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

During the seminar, Rev. Dr. Noel P. Adriano and Rev. Randi Jay T. Austria, DM, shared valuable wisdom with the Student Leaders and Commissioners. Through their engaging presentations, the guest speakers enlightened the participants on various leadership styles and attributes. The focus was on helping the students enhance their skills and become servant leaders who embody the teachings of God.

The workshop further engaged the Commissioners in understanding their roles as servant leaders, stressing the significance of transparency and commitment in their work. Discussions centered on the essential aspects that student leaders need to consider to ensure the success of their organization. This included recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of both leaders and members to achieve positive outcomes and foster trust.

As the seminar drew to a close, the commissioners walked away with a deeper understanding of the transformative power of servant leadership. They were left motivated to apply these learnings to their work, striving to lead with humility, empathy, and a shared vision of service to others.

Servant leadership is not about being served but rather about serving others, empowering them to grow, succeed, and thrive.

Watch our host, Yana, as she ask the participants of the Office of Student Affairs servant leadership seminar, unveiling their amusing takeaways from the speakers during the event.

Thank you, PCUD student leaders! 🐬

TINGNAN | PCU Dolphins, nasungkit ang unang panalo kontra PWU Patriots!

Written by: Caster Troy H. Rosal
