Lesson 4:Who Is An Artist?

In this lesson, I learn to appreciate the lives of artist and craftsmen, I am much aware of issues surrounding them and I can relate to my own life experiences, and above all after having knowledge the life and challenges of an artists, I became more understanding about their feelings, and emotions specially with those who have physical disabilities and mental incapacities.

Lesson 3:How Do I Study Art? : Reading Art

In this lesson, I learned a lot, specially about the art history like the following art periods:
1.Prehositoric - examples of arts are Cave paintings, Venus figurines, Greek standard of beauty:the birth of the "Classical" Age. And the greece realistic sculptures of human figure.

2.Middle Ages - In this period the rise of Gothic art especially in Gothic Churches begins.

3.Renaissance - Revival of artistic genius, The rise of "Masters" in arts like Donatello, Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Raphael, and Van Eyck.
The tern "Renaissance Man" came from this period because of man's intellectual achievements in the arts and science.

4.Baroque - Grandiose and ornate art, Artistic innovation, famous artists in this period are, Caravaggio(Italy), Velazquez(Spain), Poussin(France), and Antonio Gaudi (designer of "Sagrada Familia" chapel in Barcelona)

5.19th Century - Emergence of "isms", Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Art Nouveau, Impressionism, Photography comes into scene, Post impressionism, earlt impressionism, and symbolism

6.20th Century Modern Art - Art became more non- representational, Garish colors explored in Fauvism, Abstracted sculptures emerged, Simplified forms in paintings by Picasso and Matisse, Art movements, Mondrian's purely geometric art

7.Art During the Wars - Dadaism, Surrealism, American art blossoms, Mobile Sculptures.

8.20th Century to Contemporary - Highly experimental and radical, Pop art defines consumer culture, Minimalism, Birth of conceptual art, Photorealism, Neo-expressionism, and Contemporary Art.

Also I learned a lot about art criticism by simply giving proper art criticism on a specific artwork provided, and I also learned how to read arts by the guidance of different methodologies of looking and reading arts.
