AirAsia announces resumption of PH domestic flights on 5 June 2020❗

▢️ AirAsia is set to gradually resume services in the Philippines on 5 June following the Philippine government’s directive of easing community quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila and several parts of the country. Additional routes and flight schedules will be on the AirAsia website and mobile app, subject to approval from the authorities.

We plan to increase the number of routes and flights in the coming months, if allowed by aviation authorities, global public health conditions and the travel environment.

Flying Safely in the β€˜New Normal’

In compliance with international health and safety protocols, PAL is strictly implementing Fly Safe β€œnew normal” practices to protect our passengers as they travel with us.

We wish to remind all passengers to bring your own face masks or facial coverings, as you are now required to wear face masks at all times – at the airport and also throughout your flight.

We also encourage you to check-in online and arrive early at the airport to allocate extra time for new safety procedures (thermal scanning, social distancing practices for queuing, etc.) – at least 3 hours prior to departure for domestic flights; and 4 hours prior to departure for international flights.

Our cabin crew would have undergone rapid antibody testing prior to the flight, and will be wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for your protection on board the flight. A modified meal and snack service will be offered on board, using sealed packaging instead of traditional meals.

Don’t worry about the cabin air --- all PAL aircraft are equipped with high-technology systems that continuously infuse fresh air across the cabin (cabin air is replaced every 2 to 3 minutes), as well as HEPA filters that trap viruses, bacteria and other contaminants with 99.9% efficiency. The onboard air creates a cleaner environment that is safer than most enclosed public spaces and comparable to hospital operating rooms.

OUR THANKS AND APPRECIATION

We are happy to be flying again at last, after the longest operational pause in our almost-80-year history (with the exception of World War II). As the world continues to grapple with the pandemic and the related economic challenges, we continue to ask for the cooperation and support of all our valued customers, our partners in government and the transport and tourism industry, and our family of PAL personnel.

As we finally get back in the air, we thank you for your understanding and support. Your health and safety will always be our top concern, and we wish you safe travels and all the best.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

OFW arriving at airports will have to immediately undergo swab testing and wait 3-5 days for the result to come out

Returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will no longer have to spend 14-days in quarantine facilities, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced on Tuesday.

Under the new procedure released by OWWA, returning OFW can go straight to their homes after being tested negative from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

OFW arriving at airports will have to immediately undergo swab testing before going straight to the quarantine facilities while waiting for the result to come out.

β€œThis will take approximately 3-5 days. If tested negative, they are allowed to go home,” said OWWA.

However, if a returning OFW’s swab test came out positive, they will be referred or endorsed to hospitals for proper care and medication.

Upon waiting for results, OWWA will continuously provide accommodation and food assistance for the OFW

Please HELP and PRAYπŸ™

A message from Ma'am
Vilma Comoda,RN,MAN,PhD,CSEE,FMTP
Chief Nurse
Southern Philippines Medical Center(SPMC)

I will not be silenced....I AM A FILIPINO NURSE and a LEADER in HEALTH CARE SERVICES.

Do you know how hard for health workers to be in this health crisis?

** When you complain about being bored in community quarantine....We wish to stay at home.

** When you brag about good food on social media...We wish to give the same for our family but we are at work.

**When you deny truth about your travel or health history...you pose a danger to me, to others and my family.

**When you hoard food for your family...We cannot buy enough just like you because it is not our time for pay check or the salary is less than enough.

**When we meet up sick and unable people to access health care services, we feel the same need to extend the last penny for them.

** When you all got scared about the threat of COVID-19, we got the same scary feeling as it slowly knocked at the doorstep of our hospital.

**When you are safe with your families at home happily singing and watching television, some highly competent physicians were tested positive of the virus and were intubated, and it makes us sad and pray for hope to fight the unseen.

**When you rant about how the government is deciding for you and others. you forget how we are at risk saving our own lives and those of the front-liners.

To ask everyone to be sensitive to the needs of your healthcare workers may be wrong for others, but to us your BEST health is the most important thing since birth to now as we deeply care for you.

We want you to be safe; we want you to be happy amidst the crisis...but never forget us...because if we fail to deliver for you, there is no safe place for anyone...God forbid.

I write this to express my deepest empathy for all the health workers around the world, especially to the nurses, who are in the line of duty. I thank their families who support as they serve the Lord in this God-given profession...

We, nurses were not exposed before to a pandemic situation, yet the call is real, so dear colleagues, honor your oaths as NURSES and God will do the rest.

Share this message to give strength, hope and a smile to the Health care workers who are in need of God’s spirit.

β€œBe still and know that I am God.” ~ Psalm 46:10

March 19, 2020
PAL Advisory #37
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines has continued to operate a number of international flights in response to urgent public need and the Philippine Government's call for an air service lifeline to ferry out stranded foreign nationals.
As a public service, PAL is extending full free rebooking privileges to all passengers who were booked on any flight during the community quarantine period from March 15, and beyond up to April 30.
Effective immediately, any applicable fare difference is waived for passengers flying ON THE SAME cabin class on their rebooked flight. These free rebooking and fare difference waiver privileges are also extended to passengers of flights from outside the March 15 to April 30 period who are prevented from travel due to government-imposed travel bans, quarantines or flight cancellations due to COVID-19.Following a full schedule of flights to various countries yesterday, PAL intends to serve the following routes today (March 19):
North America: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, Guam
Australia and Pacific: Sydney, Guam
Middle East: Dubai
Southeast Asia: Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore
Japan: Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Osaka Kansai.
According to PAL, "We at Philippine Airlines will do our part to help our customers and fellow citizens during the ongoing national and global emergency.
We have so far maintained most of our international flights to help foreign tourists, OFWs and other people fly to their homelands or places of work, an urgent need identified by the Philippine Government. We do so even if we are certain to incur a loss on these flights, and we are taking all necessary health and safety precautions to ensure a safe journey for the passengers and crew members on board."
PAL have mounted special sweeper flights today ( March 19) on the Cebu-Manila sector to carry foreign nationals who urgently need to board international flights to their home countries from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
With the lifting of the 72-hour window for international travel, the flag carrier is marshaling resources to operate limited international services on selected routes for March 20 and beyond, and will announce the details in due course.
The final decision will depend on whether the airline, its service providers and the authorities can overcome increasing challenges, including the difficulty of securing enough manpower at the airports to support these operations given quarantine restrictions, and a growing series of travel bans and restrictions imposed by various countries.
PAL adds, "We salute our crew members, along with all our personnel and those of our service partners, who show up for work in spite of COVID-19 concerns --- a display of buong pusong alaga and bayanihan spirit that we can all appreciate. We thank our customers above all for their understanding and support in this challenging time."

DOT Welcomes Lifting of Travel Ban For Outbound Passengers

The Department of Tourism (DOT) welcomed the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to lift the 72-hour window for individuals departing overseas.

All persons (foreign nationals, OFWs, balikbayans), regardless of nationality, except for Filipino tourists, may now fly out of the country at any time provided they travel only to the airport within 24 hours of the date and time of their departure. Outgoing passengers must provide documents of their departure, such as an electronic ticket or flight itinerary.

Outbound passengers may be accompanied only by one companion to and from the airport, who shall likewise carry a copy of such e-ticket or itinerary.

The foregoing to subject to joint guidelines to be issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the DOT.

Select Hotels To Remain Open

Hotels and similar establishments shall remain closed under the guidelines of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, except for the following:

1. those with foreign guests that have existing booking accommodations as of March 17, 2020;

2.those with checked-in guests on long-term leases;

3.those accommodating employees from exempted establishments under the provisions of the March 16, 2020 Memorandum from the Executive secretary.

Hotels and similar establishments except for those classified in #3 above are not allowed to accept new bookings.

Assistance to All Tourists

The DOT has created a Tourism Airport Team to provide 24-hour service to stranded tourists at airport including assistance in arranging flights, transportation, meals and accommodation. DOT is in close collaboration with local government unit (LGU) officers, local airport staff and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) for this effort.

The Regional Offices of DOT have been proactive in informing tourism stakeholders such as hotels, island resorts, tour operators and local government units to communicate the intensified travel restrictions of the Enhanced Community Quarantine to foreign tourists in each destination, especially those in remote islands.

"The DOT is committed to working with all stakeholders, especially the LGUs and the inter-agency task force (IATF), in ensuring that the safety and the needs of our domestic and international tourists are addressed and resolved," stated Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

We continue to operate INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS up to March 19, 2020.

We will announce in due course the status of our international flights from March 20 up to April 12, as we are presently coordinating with government authorities on the relevant implementing details.

PAL will comply with the travel restrictions set out in the quarantine rules, as follows:

B. Our international flights arriving in the Philippines for the 17 to 20 March period will be allowed to carry the following: Filipino nationals, their foreign spouses and children and holders of permanent resident visas.

The PAL Manila Airport Ticket Office at the NAIA Terminal 2 will remain open from 2:00 AM until 10:00 PM daily, 7 days a week.

However, all other PAL Ticket Offices in Metro Manila will be closed to comply with the quarantine directives.

For travel and ticketing concerns, please call our Hotline at (63 2) 88558888.

We respectfully request you to consider deferring any requests for rebooking until after 12 April 2020, in view of the strict social distancing required by the quarantine measures; we expect a high volume of queries and transactions at the Ticket Office as well as the Hotline, and we ask you to bear with us as we deal with the challenge of handling an unprecedented number of cancelled flights over this quarantine period.

Please note that this is a developing situation, and the quarantine rules are subject to periodic review by the Philippine government's Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID 19.

We seek your kind understanding and patience as we cope with this major challenge and make a collective sacrifice in the name of the national interest and public health.

Thank you.

CORONAVIRUS: "Prevention is better than cure"
Common sense for the good of all of us...

Virus Detection:

The simplest way to distinguish Coronavirus from a Common Cold is that the COVID-19 infection does not cause a cold nose or cough with cold, but it does create a dry and rough cough.

The virus is typically first installed in the throat causing inflammation and a feeling of dryness. This symptom can last between 3 and 4 days.

The virus typically then travels through the moisture present in the airways, goes down to the trachea and installs in the lungs, causing pneumonia that lasts about 5 or 6 days.

Pneumonia manifests with a high fever and difficulty breathing. The Common Cold is not accompanied, but there may be a choking sensation. In this case, the doctor should be called immediately.

Experts suggest doing this simple verification every morning: Breathe in deeply and hold your breath for 10 seconds. If this can be done without coughing, without difficulty, this shows that there is no fibrosis in the lungs, indicating the absence of infection. It is strongly recommended to do this control every morning.

Prevention:

The virus hates heat and dies if it is exposed to temperatures greater than 80Β°F (27Β°C). Therefore hot drinks such as infusions, broths or simply hot water should be consumed abundantly during the day. These hot liquids kill the virus and are easy to ingest.

Avoid drinking ice water or drinks with ice cubes.

Ensure that your mouth and throat are always wet, never DRY. You should drink a sip of water at least every 15 minutes. WHY?

Even when the virus enters water or other liquids through the mouth, it will get flushed through the oesophagus directly into the stomach where gastric acids destroy the virus. If there is not enough water, the virus can pass into the trachea and from there to the lungs, where it is very dangerous.

For those who can sunbathe. The Sun's UV rays kill the virus and vitamin D is good for you.

The Coronavirus has a large size (diameter of 400-500 nanometers) so any face mask can stop it, no special face masks are needed in daily life.

If an infected person sneezes near us, stay 10 feet (3.3 meters) away to allow the virus to fall to the ground and prevent it from falling on you.

When the virus is on hard surfaces, it survives about 12 hours, therefore when hard surfaces such as doors, appliances, railings, etc. are touched.

Hands should be washed thoroughly and/or sanitized with an effective sanitizer

The virus can live nested in clothes and tissues between 6 and 12 hours. Common detergents can kill it. Things that cannot be washed should be exposed to the Sun and the virus will die.

The transmission of the virus usually occurs by direct infection, touching fabrics, tissues or materials on which the virus is present.

Washing /sanitizing your hands is essential.

The virus survives on our hands for only about 10 minutes. In that time many things can happen, rubbing the eyes, touching the nose or lips.

This allows the virus to enter your throat. Therefore, for your good and the good of all, wash/sanitize your hands very often

You can gargle with disinfectant solutions (i.e. Listerine or Hydrogen Peroxide) that eliminate or minimize the amount of virus that can enter the throat.

Doing so removes the virus before it goes down to the trachea and then to the lungs.

Sanitize things touched often: hands, cellphone, keyboard, mouse, car steering wheel, door handles, etc

Please share this information with family, friends and acquaintances. We must take care of ourselves, for our good and the good of others. Copied and shared!
