GOLD
--------------
Gold was once a choice gift for a king from his subjects. And we all know that gold is very valuable. Naturally, if it were to be given to someone, he must truly deserve it; his stature should merit a gift of such value.
Perhaps gold was the earthly resource the wise men could see fit for someone they believed to be King of all kings. For what can match the divine and glorious work of God in sending His own Son as the King who will save mankind from his sins?

FRANKINCENSE
---------------------------------
Frankincense is supposed to signify the divinity of Jesus. Biblically, it is used ceremonially as the only incense permitted on the altar at the temple.

MYRRH
-----------------
Similar to frankincense, myrrh is another aromatic resin used as perfume, incense and medicine.
Many studies also show that myrrh was used by Egyptians as an embalming agent. Perhaps the wise men somehow prophetically discerned Jesus' ultimate sacrifice for our salvation: To die on the Cross as payment for mankind's sins.

What gift have you received from Jesus?

The wise men gave their best and nothing but the best, because they knew Jesus is the best. If you see Jesus in the same way, someone who deserves nothing less than the best, write down the gifts (don't have to be material things) you would offer Him if you were to visit Him right now.
