The NMIS XI Enforcement Group was at the Municipality of New Bataan, Davao de Oro.
Monitoring and surveillance activities were done at different meatshops and on its meat section in their public market. With the presence of Dr. Angelita E. Barcelona, NMIS RTOC XI Regional Director, the activities were in coordination with the LGU.

A busy day for NMIS XI Enforcement Group. Ensuring food safety for meat consuming public by conducting enforcement activities in coordination with LGUs from nearby Fr, Selga St, Davao City to Magsaysay and Padada, Davao del Sur.

Ensuring public food safety, the NMIS XI Enforcement Group visited Panabo, Davao Del Norte's public market meat section at a very early morning hour.
Various food safety concerns were again noticed including the handling of its meat carcasses loaded in an MTV. Talks with the meat vendors for correction of the issues were initiated. Final warnings were issued and confiscation of meat products.for severe violation was also done.
Meat safety is always an NMIS priority.
The activity was always in coordination with the LGU.

The NMIS RTOC XI Enforcement Group conducted monitoring and surveillance activities at the Municipalities of Pantukan and Maco, Davao de Oro.
In coordination of both LGUs , violators were issued final warnings. There were also confiscations of meat products due to severity of violation of RA 10536.
Retailers of frozen meat products were reminded also to follow guidelines from AO 5 and AO 6.
After proper documentation, confiscated meat products were then disposed as condemnd.

NMIS RTOC XI thru its Enforcement Group, has always made it sure that its programs and services for the production and delivery of safe meat and meat products for food will be for the welfare of our meat consuming public.
In coordination with the LGUs of the Municipalities of Sto. Tomas and Kapalong, Davao del Norte, an enforcement activities were conducted where various food safety issues including meat transport were noticed and corrected.
Issuances of final warnings and confiscation of meat which came from an unaccredited slaughterhouse were done.

The Municipalities of Nabunturan and Monkayo, Davao de Oro were visited by the NMIS XI Enforcement Group.
In coordination with the concerned LGUs, surveillance and monitoring were conducted wherein food safety and meat selling issues were observed and where immediately corrected. Final warnings were issued to violators.
At Monkayo wet market, additional inputs for additional good marketing/selling practices were shared for more improvement of their meat section.

An enforcement activities were conducted by the NMIS XI Enforcement Group in the three Municipalities of Sulop, Matanao, and Bansalan, all in the province of Davao del Sur. These were to make sure that poultry meat products and pork meat products were all safe and negative from AI and ASF respectively.
A new meatshop operated by returning OFWs, assisted by DTI and funded by OWWA at Sulop were given some inputs on meat selling.
A new slaughterhouse under construction at Bansalan was also visited by the NMIS XI focal on infra,a member of the enforcement group.

Enforcement Activity at Mati, Davao Oriental with the City's Task Force Bantay Karne. Food safety issues were noticed and corrected. Confiscations of spoiled meat products and were disposed as condemnd were also done. Passed by Banaybanay Public Market meat section in the afternoon for an occular inspection and monitoring For the Search for Best Public Market.
An MTV was also apprehended by the group along Panabo, Davao del Norte highway in violation of RA 10536. A Notice of Final Warning was issued to its owner.

In support of the Tourism Industry of the Island Garden City of Samal, the NMIS XI Enforcement Group conducted enforcement activity by having a short talk to its owners/managers and conducted monitoring/surveillance at different resorts. The activity was in coordination with the City Veterinary Office and the City Investment and Tourism Office of Samal.
Minor food safety issues were noticed and immediately corrected.
The meat section of its public market,meatshops, and a coop store selling meat and meat products were also visited.

Delivering services to far flung LGU/Municipality, the NMIS XI Enforcement Group visited the Municipality of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental.
A courtesy call with the MAO where ASF, slaughterhouse and enforcement issues were discussed. Enforcement activities, and a visit to their unused slaughterhouse were done. The LGU then was pushed to requist for a technical assitance with the NMIS XI for their slaughterhouse.

The NMIS XI Enforcement Group conducted monitoring and surveillance activity at the Municipality of Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
In coordination with LMEEO, different meat establishments were visited. Food Safety issues were corrected like proper handling, ideal storage practices, and documentation. Final warnings were also issued and price monitoring was also conducted.
The team also visited their slaughterhouse where some inputs on good practices were shared.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar said that “the fight is not over” during the third day of the DA Management Committee Meeting, March 30. He encouraged the “OneDA Family” to continue working up to the last hour of his term and to have the courage to resist irregularities and strongly oppose those with vested interests. “I may be an outgoing Secretary, but I still have a plan and a strict timeline,” he added.

Here is the NMIS Executive Director’s Women’s Month Message:

We have 36 female Veterinarians in the central office, which includes the Regional Technical Operations Center (RTOC) NCR and IV-B. We’ve had female Executive Directors before. We can say that the agency and the profession is not male-dominated anymore, and it has been proven that women can lead the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS). However, numbers and designations are not important. What matters is our ability to work together to achieve our goals and enforce our mandate of keeping meat safe.

Women should be free to do whatever they want. If they want to work at a government agency, they must be given equal opportunity and fair treatment. I promise that the management ensures this and continues to work on it through various activities carefully planned by our GAD Focal Point System (GFPS).

The female workforce can do what males can. Everyone is capable of being a responsible citizen of this country, a nurturing member of a family and community, and a hardworking employee. Women empowerment and gender equality are achieved through inclusion. This is not just the fight of women, nor a fight against each other. This is our chance to eradicate gender discrimination and gender-based violence and harassment so that we can all live harmoniously and perform our duties well.

Thank you to everyone who tries to make it possible, especially to my NMIS family. Let us keep working on disregarding our differences and accepting the uniqueness of each other to serve our country.
