WHAT WE MEAN BY “PEACE” AT COFFEE FOR PEACE | At Coffee for Peace (CFP), we believe that true peace begins with a comprehensive approach to harmony—within ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. Our mission extends beyond producing excellent coffee; we are committed to fostering peace through four interconnected transformations: spiritual-ethical, physical-psychological, social-political, and ecological-economic. Each transformation is rooted in the belief that harmony in these areas leads to a more just, compassionate, and sustainable world.
Harmony with the CREATOR lies at the core of our philosophy, representing a spiritual-ethical transformation. At CFP, we encourage deep self-reflection and alignment with divine principles such as love, justice, and compassion. Our work in the coffee industry is a direct expression of these values, as we strive to promote fairness and equity in every step of our supply chain, from farmer to consumer. By focusing on ethical practices, we aim to build a more compassionate and just society, one cup of coffee at a time.
Harmony with BEING speaks to the importance of physical-psychological transformation. We believe that personal well-being is essential for peace. By encouraging healthy habits, mental resilience, and self-care, CFP empowers individuals to face life’s challenges with balance and self-compassion. Our farmer-partners are supported not only in growing coffee but also in cultivating a sense of personal growth and healing, which radiates outwards to their families and communities.
Harmony with OTHERS is central to our vision of social-political transformation. Coffee for Peace is dedicated to advancing justice and equity, particularly in the communities we serve. We advocate for the dignity and rights of indigenous and marginalized groups, promoting systems that uplift the oppressed and ensure their voices are heard. By supporting fair trade and conflict-resolution initiatives, CFP contributes to building a more inclusive and peaceful society, where every individual’s humanity is respected.
Harmony with CREATION emphasizes our commitment to ecological-economic transformation. CFP recognizes that peace cannot exist without respect for the earth’s resources. We adopt sustainable farming practices that protect the environment and promote ecological stewardship. By aligning our economic models with ethical principles, we ensure that both people and the planet are treated with care, ensuring that future generations can thrive in harmony with nature.
Through this Harmonious Worldview, Coffee for Peace invites individuals and communities to join us on a transformative journey. By aligning spiritual, physical, social, and ecological aspects of life, we foster holistic peace—one that nurtures personal growth, societal change, and the well-being of our planet. Together, we can build a world rooted in love, justice, and sustainability, where peace is not just an ideal but a lived reality.

COFFEE FOR PEACE TO DAVAO OCCIDENTAL
On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Coffee for Peace, in partnership with the Municipality's Agricultural Office, visited the Learning Site on Integrated-Diversified Farming in Brgy. Kinanga, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental. The initiative, led by the Local Agricultural team, focused on preparing a coffee nursery to support local farmers in enhancing their agricultural practices. PBCI & CFP HONOURS THE LIFE OF CHITO LEGASPI | With our community’s deepest sympathy, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Chito Legaspi—Joy, Miggy, Yanna, and all his loved ones, extended family, and friends. We mourn the reality that our beloved Chito is no longer with us physically.
Brother Chito was an integral part of PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. (PBCI), first as a member of the Board of Trustees and later as a steadfast partner in our shared ministry of conflict transformation in Mindanao, Philippines. His business insights have also been an inspiration at Coffee For Peace (CFP), the social enterprise related to PBCI.
As we join his family in their grief, we also cherish the many beautiful memories of his significant contributions to building peace in our land. His legacy will continue to inspire us at PBCI-CFP as we carry forward the work he generously shared with us.
STRATEGIC TASK MANAGEMENT | Mastering strategic task management has transformed how I approach my daily responsibilities. By focusing first on what is important and urgent, I ensure that critical tasks are addressed without delay. For tasks that are important but not urgent, I take the time to plan and schedule them thoughtfully. I’ve learned to delegate or assign urgent but less important tasks, freeing up my time to concentrate on what truly matters. And by eliminating tasks that are neither important nor urgent, I can maintain a clear and focused workflow. This approach has not only increased my productivity but also brought a sense of clarity and purpose to my work.
I learned this in 1989 as I was transitioning from being a local church pastor in Vancouver, Canada to being a global ministries director of a national religious organization.

Coffee For Peace (CFP) renews partnership with St. Mary of Downtown Farmers Organization Inc. (SMODFOI) of Lanao.
On 28 July 2024, Coffee For Peace (CFP), led by Byron Pantoja, renewed its Memorandum of Agreement with the St. Mary of Downtown Farmers Organization, Inc. (SMODFOI) of Lanao. This renewed commitment underscores our dedication to sourcing the exceptional, single-origin coffees from the Pagonayan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (PFAC). The agreement reaffirms our support for high-quality coffee and local farmers. Our Story
The peace in Coffee For Peace is harmonious relationships — with the Creator, with one’s being, with others, and with creation. It is through this perspective of reality and mission in life that this business was started.
Coffee For Peace was established on April 15, 2008 in Davao City. The idea began when the founders facilitated an informal conflict mediation in Maguindanao province between a Migrant farmer and a Bangsamoro neighbor. The two were trying to kill each other for the ownership of the rice field ready for harvest, regardless of who planted the rice or who owned the land. Instead of shooting each other, the two were invited for a dialogue over coffee. Since then, the two avoided killing each other. They started inviting other members of the community to have coffee together — for peace.
We’re committed to our promise
Our promise is to continually improve in our business practices specifically to help protect and enhance the environment, to walk with the farmers as they strive to improve their lives, and to support the peacebuilders on the field.
We’re an inclusive business community
