President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has condemned the recent air incident involving China’s Air Force and Philippine Air Force (PAF) plane over Scarborough Shoal.

Marcos criticized the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) for engaging in “unjustified, illegal, and reckless” behavior.

He emphasized that the PAF was conducting a routine patrol within Philippine sovereign territory.

“We have hardly started to calm the waters, and it is already worrying that there could be instability in our airspace,” Marcos said in a statement.

The President reaffirmed the Philippines' commitment to diplomacy and peaceful resolution but called on China to show responsible conduct in both maritime and aerial domains.

On Saturday, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reported that two PLAAF jets performed a risky maneuver and dropped flares in the path of a PAF aircraft.

The AFP said that these actions endangered the PAF crew and violated international aviation safety laws and regulations.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said that the Philippine government will not block any arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) related to the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) drug war investigation.

DOJ Secretary Boying Remulla emphasized that despite the Philippines’ withdrawal from the ICC, it remains a member of Interpol.

“We are not in the business of blocking any movement at Interpol,” Remulla said.

Remulla also assured that they will not hinder Interpol’s efforts to combat international crime.

Previously, former senator Sonny Trillanes IV has disclosed that Senator Bato dela Rosa and four other former and current Philippine National Police (PNP) officers are tagged as suspects in the ICC’s investigation into the Duterte administration's anti-drug campaign.

Meanwhile, in an interview with One News’ ‘The Big Story’, Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra revealed that the ICC prosecutor has requested assistance from the Philippine government to facilitate the interviews of five individuals involved in the case.
