Race Results
Mileochim Catalbas stepped up to Elite for this race and took the win. π
Alexa and Hanah Barba placed 1st and 2nd in the Women Youth category. π₯π₯
The sisters also set the fastest overall times in the female categories (Youth and Elite). Frankie Diones, who was with our team for a year, placed 3rd π₯and it was great to see her injury-free and riding fast again.
Tristan Aranas (14 & Below category) placed first in seeding but during finals he caught up to the slower rider in front of him and lost valuable seconds trying to pass. He ended up in 4th place.
As always, thank you so much team owner Dr. Cary Marlowe Remotigue for your constant support and being awesome in general π. Thanks to our riders' supportive families as well as their individual gear and apparel sponsors. Thanks to everyone involved in organizing the event and see you at the next one!

A decent start to the Harvey's National Downhill Series for us with a pair of second places for Mileochim Catalbas (3rd fastest overall time) and Wendell Barba in their respective categories (Men 15-19 and 40-49). Third and fourth for our young ladies Hanah and Alexa Barba in the Women's Open Category. Hanah had a minor crash and Alexa's front tire was slowly losing air but we're happy that they made it safely down the loose and dusty track. This was Alexa's first ever visit to Luzon. A spot on the podium was a great result for her and hopefully the first of many in 2024 for the talented eleven-year-old.
As always, a huge thank you to Dr. Cary Marlowe Remotigue our team owner. We thank Gibo Rideplus and the Ride Plus crew for their support and hospitality. We are grateful as well for the assistance we received from Atty. Arthur Tolcidas and Mr. Ryan T Uy.
We'd like to express our gratitude to Harvey's Resto - Sports Bar for continuing this awesome national race series and to the hard-working HARVEYS NATIONAL DOWNHILL SERIES 2024 organizers, volunteers and media for making it all happen. Congrats to our fellow racers and see you at the next one!

Champions in "The Finale!"
Leg 7 of the Harvey's National Downhill Series is done and we're coming home with some silverware!
Mileochim Catalbas won the Men 15-19 category by a large margin and posted the fastest overall time again, just like he did in Leg 5. He also took the overall crown with a race to spare. We cannot emphasize enough just how good this kid is. To race the same tracks as the top Philippine riders and beat their race times is a phenomenal achievement for someone so young.
Second place in the race and second overall for Gwen Hanah Barba in the Women's Category, right behind elite national champion Naomi Gardoce. This was a great result and an important learning experience for the 14 year old. "The Young Queen," as our friends at Sendr fondly call her, will continue to get stronger and faster. Watch this space.
Veteran racer and team coach Wendell Barba won the 40-49 category also by a huge margin and placed second overall, just 12 points behind the series winner. He would have had a greater chance of winning the overall if he had been allowed to compete in his actual category at two of the races and we thank the series organizers for at least giving him the proper points at one race. We hope that these issues are addressed next year so that everyone, not just Wendell, has a fair and honest chance of winning.
What a year it has been for the team! So happy about what we've achieved and very grateful for the support that we've received from a lot of people. Thank you to team owner Dr. Cary Marlowe Remotigue, team volunteers, Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, the Terra Alphas, riders individual sponsors, Harvey's Resto - Sports Bar, the hard-working race organizers and timers, the photographers at various venues, Sendr and our friends from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao who all share the same love that we have for this amazing sport.
See you next year at the races and have a wonderful Christmas! β€οΈ

Three peat! Gold medals for the third consecutive year for Mileochim Catalbas and Wendell Barba in their respective categories (Men 16-below and Men 40-49) at the 2023 Philippine National Downhill Mountain Bike Championships in Danao City, Cebu (December 2, 2023).
Super sisters Hanah and Alexa Barba got 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Women's 16-below category. Hanah crashed during her run and settled for silver but thankfully she is unhurt. The girls will be back next year: faster, stronger and hunting for gold.
From 2021 to 2023 our tally at the national downhill championships stands at 7 gold medals, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes. In addition, we won 3 gold medals and 1 silver at the 2023 Philippine National Enduro Mountain Bike Championships which was held in Guimaras Province last October. We hope to win more in the coming years.
We couldn't have achieved all of this without the help of many awesome people. Firstly, we thank Dr. Cary Marlowe Remotigue for believing in the talent and potential of our young racers and supporting their quest to be the best. We are grateful to Negros Oriental Governor Chaco Sagarbarria and Provincial Administrator Atty. Arthur Tolcidas for their support for our homegrown champions. We thank our federation PhilCycling and the race organizers DCSC for overseeing the national championships. Last but never least, thank you to our team volunteers, Terra Alphas (Team Barba United), and all our good friends in the biking community for your encouragement and help.
