Thank you to our speakers Dr. Bernadette J. Madrid, our reactor Ms. Aiet De la Torre, and our moderator Hon. Dr. Anna York Bondoc for the insightful takeaways from the webinar MAINGAT- Safety Superstars: Empowering Kids to Thrive Safely in the Digital World held last May 17, 2024. During the webinar, we learned that:
1. While the dual-edged nature of social media for children and adolescents offers opportunities for social support and connectivity, it also poses significant risks to mental health and development. The addictive nature of social media underscores the need for parents and caregivers to guide and monitor their children's media use. We must advocate for a balanced approach to digital media, emphasizing screen time limits, offline activities, and digital literacy to support healthy development and mitigate the harms of excessive screen time.
2. It is important to manage children's social media and screen time by setting boundaries and encouraging open communication. Educate them on digital risks to protect their privacy and safety. Use parental controls and model healthy habits to foster safe online behavior.
Thank you again to our panelist and attendees for making the fourth and final installment of the CHAMPS Webinar series a success!

Thank you to our speakers Dr. Norieta C. Balderrama and Dr. Lielanie Mae Liong Aguilar-Pascasio, our reactor Ms. Jen Tan, and our moderator Dr. Melissa Nadine C. Tiotangco for the insightful takeaways from the webinar MASAYA- Mindful Marvels: Achieving Mental Wellness and Emotional Balance held on March 15, 2024. During the webinar, we learned that:
1. The close relationship between a child's brain health and their overall well-being illustrates how vital a healthy brain is. Ensuring a child receives proper nutrition, regular exercise, enough sleep, and practices mindfulness contributes significantly to their cognitive abilities, emotional regulation, and social skills, all of which are crucial for their overall well-being.
2. Teaching children empathy helps them understand others' feelings, leading to improved communication and conflict resolution. Praising their efforts, regardless of the outcome, helps cultivate resilience and promotes a growth mindset, essential for lifelong learning and adaptation.
The workshop highlighted during Dr. Aguilar-Pascasio’s talk can be accessed via this link: https://sesameworkshop.org/topics/social-emotional-skills/
3. Reassuring children that emotions are a normal, transient part of being human helps them understand and accept their feelings as a natural aspect of growing up.

1. Personal hygiene is not just about physical cleanliness; it's a holistic approach that includes both bodily cleanliness and mental well-being, promoting overall health and self-care.
2. For parents and caregivers, focusing on a consistent sleep schedule and calming bedtime routine for your child is vital. These habits significantly impact sleep quality and overall well-being, aligning with good sleep hygiene.
3. Personal hygiene serves as an essential connection to both food safety and enjoyable dining experiences, with practices such as CLAYGO (“Clean As You Go”), handwashing, and wearing clean attire playing key roles.
