The Qu**rs and Allies organization’s president, Hon. Keneth Barquio, and secretary, Hon. Dany Cerera Quidato, were invited to represent Qu**rs and Allies Calumpang at the Bahagsubay Gensan event in General Santos City on July 13, 2024.

They participated in workshops on human rights, SOGIESC, and the Safe Space Act. The event was filled with excitement, fun, and meaningful discussions aimed at empowering LGBTQIAA+ organizations in our city.

Additionally, the event was part of the preparations for the upcoming inauguration of one of the largest youth-led organizations in the city. 🏳️‍🌈

The PROTECTS XII, in partnership with South Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office - Infectious Disease Cluster, Local Government Unit of Polomolok South Cotabato, and Department of Health - Center for Health Development, hosted a truly extraordinary event on December 10, 2023, in celebration of 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐈𝐃𝐒 𝐃𝐚𝐲 with the theme "𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯 𝘏𝘐𝘝 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘊𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘰".

The event kicked off with an HIV testing, providing a crucial opportunity for individuals to take charge of their health and ensure a safe future. Following this, the stage was set for a dazzling showcase of talent, as ten extraordinary drag queens took the audience on a mesmerizing journey. The aim of this event was to raise awareness about HIV prevention, encourage testing, and promote inclusivity and acceptance within the community. By combining education, entertainment, and empowerment, we aimed to break down barriers and foster a society free from stigma and discrimination. Throughout the night, the atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, joy, and a palpable sense of unity. The performances by the drag queens were truly awe-inspiring, leaving the audience in awe of their creativity, beauty, and confidence.

As the event drew to a close, we reflected on the meaningful impact it had on our community. The PROTECTS team and its partners were proud to have provided a platform for dialogue, support, and celebration. By coming together and embracing diversity, we took a significant step towards creating an HIV-free South Cotabato.

With that, PROTECTS XII would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible, the South Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office, the Local Government Unit of Polomolok South Cotabato, and the Department of Health - Center for Health Development. Together, we have shown that when communities lead, positive change is not only possible but inevitable. Let this night serve as a reminder of the power of unity, love, and acceptance. May it inspire us all to continue working towards a future where HIV is eradicated, and every individual is embraced for who they are.

On June 24, 2023, at SK E Learning, Baranggay Calumpang, the Qu**rs and Allies of Baranggay Calumpang organized a symposium for LGBTQIA+ youth in order to showcase their uniqueness and gain a thorough grasp of who they are with the help of Sangguniang Kabataan of Baranggay Calumpang.

We celebrate the ’s brave journey and the individuals who have valiantly fought for love, respect, and inclusion during this colorful and energizing month. It is a chance to consider the successes and failures that have marked our common past and to reaffirm our dedication to a society where everyone may live authentically and without prejudice.

Delivered by empowered individuals, Ms. Jopay Geli Tubo and Mr. Jestler Salubre reminding us that variety is a lovely tapestry that enhances our society, Pride Month serves as a ray of hope. It honors the distinctive hues, voices, and experiences that make us who we are.

Together, we construct a kaleidoscope of unity, strength, and resiliency that tears down obstacles and opens doors to a better future.

𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐀 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 🏳️‍🌈

The celebration of Pride Month concluded with a bang last June 30, 2022, at the Calumpang Gymnasium, with the theme "Let your colors shine." LGBTQIA+ members and allies came to celebrate and strut the runway at the advocacy driven-night.

Pride Month is observed annually to honor and promote the equality and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community and to raise awareness of their voices, rights, and vibrant culture. The star highlight of the event was the Grand Finals of Qu**rs and Allies Next Top Model, where Ahtisa from Purok Puting Bato was crowned the winner. Asher from Purok Veterans was named Q&ANTM Tourism, Kylie from Malambuon hailed Q&ANTM Sangguniang Kabataan, Dhuroty from San Juan was titled 1st Runner-up, and Maggie from Emeliana bagged the 2nd Runner-up, respectively.

The event also featured the skills and talents of LGBTQIA+ members of Calumpang through KaboGAYra: The Search for Hagwaera. The said event was organized by the 6th Sangguniang Kabataan of Calumpang and the Calumpang Youth Development Council, where the Qu**rs and Allies of Calumpang is a member.

The event truly provided an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ people to be heard and mainstreamed. Pride month is over but this can't stop us from celebrating and advocating for inclusive and just society. Let's work together for social rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. Hindi kailan magagapi kapag sabay-sabay at sama-sama. Sama sama nating ibandera ang kulay ng bahaghari! 🏳️‍🌈✊
