Dahil sa mataas nitong nutrients at minerals. Ito ay ginagamit bilang isang organikong pataba sa palay bilang isang manure o kaya naman isinasabay ito sa paglaki ng palay (monocrop).

Ito ay nagtataglay ng mga minerals tulad nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, at iba pa na kailangan ng iba't-ibang halaman upang lumaki ng masigla at marami ang maging ani.
