Hugging prayer blankets through the turbulence of life and of planes ✈️🫂

A friend flew to New York with the Prayer Blanket. It being small and light weight makes it easy to tag along!

One of the highlights of the 2-day Soft Makers Market at Ayala, Centrio last December was meeting Mr and Mrs Crisostomo. 💕

They are a lovely Catholic couple who received a Prayer Blanket as a gift before and ever since has been buying Prayer Blankets to give away to their sick friends.

They asked me why I stopped selling at Shopee for sometime. I told them that my Mom who was in charge of overseeing production got sick and they were very kind to ask about how she is and to wish her good health. I was also happy to let them know that our shopee shop has now resumed. They mentioned that their daughter saw the post that we are doing a bazaar that day and coincidentally they are also in the mall at that time so they just had to drop by to get some.

Prior to them visiting the stall, I just had a chat with about finding your business’ niche and them coming over, totally aware of the product and the vision for it, was exactly the encouragement I needed that time. 😍

May God bless you, Mr and Mrs Crisostomo, and all the friends whom you gift these Prayer Blankets to. 🙏🏽

How about we start the year with prayer and meditation? I created a 2024 Day of Prayer Guide called “Into the Land of Promise”.
Access it here 👉🏻 bit.ly/2024promiseland

The context of this reflection guide is the journey of the Israelites towards the Promised Land. Through meditation, we will walk in the footsteps of the chosen people of God, personalizing their sufferings, looking back in thanksgiving where God’s hand was at work during the past year, and looking forward in hope the promises that God has for us this 2024.

I initially created this for my personal use, but later was inspired to share it to whoever finds it helpful.

Some recommendations:
🌸 Do it with a friend or a small group of friends you can trust.
🌸 Allot a good amount of time to sit in silence and reflection.

May you have a blessed start of 2024!

Exodus 6:6-8 “I am the Lord; I will rescue you and set you free from your slavery to the Egyptians. I will raise my mighty arm to bring terrible punishment upon them, and I will save you. I will make you my own people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am the Lord your God when I set you free from slavery in Egypt. I will bring you to the land that I solemnly promised to give to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob; and I will give it to you.”

“The average American is physically, biologically, physiologically and neurologically unable to do anything worthwhile before he has a cup of coffee! And that goes for prayer too… Let them have coffee before meditation.” -Bishop Fulton Sheen

I mean do Filipino Catholics also relate? 😅🤭

If there’s one outstanding quality that both Mary and Joseph share- that’s obedience to the Lord and how it’s marked throughout their whole life especially when they were given the most noble calling of being Jesus’ parents.

But particularly, I’m drawn to meditate recently on how they must have felt when the angel appeared to Joseph telling him not to go home to Nazareth, but to actually bring Mary and Jesus to Egypt and stay there indefinitely, shortly after Jesus was born. (Matthew 2:13).

I mean, can we stop and understand how wild that is?!
💥 First, Mary was pregnant with the Holy Spirit.
💥 Joseph was told all about it in a dream.
💥 They travel hundreds of miles at the peak of Mary’s pregnancy.
💥 Mary gives birth in a stable!
And just when they probably dream of coming home, they 💥 get 💥 told 💥 to 💥 go 💥 somewhere 💥 else 🤯

If that was me, I’ll probably lose my mind for a while. “Lord, how about my curated nursery for Baby Jesus? How about my home and neighborhood? How about my livelihood?”

But it’s 👏Mary 👏 and 👏Joseph!
✅ Obedient ✅ Totally submitted to the will of God ✅ Fully committed to follow God with reckless abandon. 😌 Perhaps at this point in their journey as God’s chosen ones, they would have already gotten used to the surprises, the new things, the thrill, and everything that comes with saying yes to HIM.

We can learn a lot from their disposition, can’t we?

What I’m learning in my own season too is to ask for the grace to live out this saying, “The saints submitted to whatever God sent them, with childlike simplicity ‘That’s the way you want it, let Your will be done.’”-Elder Makris

I don’t know who needs to hear this. But to anyone feeling exhausted this Christmas, either because of the busyness of the season or just because of life in general, this is for you.

I was thinking about Mary and Joseph who traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem. That’s 70-90 miles in distance (for reference that’s like CDO to Valencia or Manila to Lucena). Experts say that it can be reached in 4-5 days by foot or with a donkey, journeying 8 hours a day. But considering a very pregnant Mary, perhaps they traveled slower than usual, with stops along the way, making the journey longer, through the upward and downward terrain, braving the weather, the danger, the dust. Biblical scholars suggest they must’ve traveled 7-9 days!

Only to arrive in a province without a place to stay, and give birth no less!

I picture the Holy Family exhausted. And yet in the midst if all this, Jesus was born. Surely they did not have much, but they had Jesus and each other and that was enough. More than enough!

Despite the exhaustion, I picture the joy in their tired eyes. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒆𝒙𝒉𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒓𝒐𝒃 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒋𝒐𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏’𝒔 𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒇𝒕.

Dear exhausted one, I pray you find peace and joy in the season despite all that you have to go through.

Merry Christmas! 🎄

————————————

I’ll be sharing some reflection about the Christmas season, as the Spirit leads. My goal is to personally reflect and go deep in the observation of the season, when our commercialized modern Christmas culture influences us to just go about with it swiftly and shallowly. I’ll share a bit of my musings online! 🫶🏻 So we can all ponder together. 🙏🏽 (I’d love to hear your thoughts and reflections as well). Lastly, a kind reminder that it’s not wrong to still greet “Merry Christmas!” And leave out the “belated” because Christmas is not just a day, but a whole liturgical ⭐️season⭐️.

Photos from Everything Heartwork's post 24/12/2023

Often times we do not come to the Lord because of the ‘mess’, ugliness, sinfulness of our lives. Kind of how we do not prefer to receive guests when our homes are topsy turvy. We forget that if the Holy Family was not deterred by the mess of a manger, God isn't deterred by whatever mess our lives have become.

To those in the brink of hopelessness,
To those who are grappling with depression, anxiety, unforgiveness,
To the poor, the hurting, to the broken,
To the unhappy,
To the sinful,
To the lonely, to the sick,
To the grieving, even to the unbelieving…
He comes for you. He comes for all of us.

Remember that in Bethlehem, there were many inns and houses, far more comfortable, nicer, more presentable. But they were too full, they cannot accommodate the Lord. It was a stable, a manger that became the birthing place of the King of Kings.

So really the question is- have we made room for Him in our hearts?

But here we are, still wobbly but trying to get back doing the things we love here at Everything Heartwork

🤫 We’re dropping other new items next week so you might wanna wait for that before checking out! 🛒

It’s been a while, Instagram! No better way to post again than on the day of Our Lady’s birthday 💙🤍

Well, why the hiatus? Life happened and while we continue our Shopee operations, I (Aiana) haven’t kept up with the posting.

I have had an incredible experience of meditating about and asking intercessions from Mama Mary in the past months— including visiting Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.

The busyness of travel has slowly died down and just as I visited home, after morning mass today, I noticed this quaint altar I built 5 years ago in my room and remembered we have a beautiful Fatima statue. What a reminder that Mama Mary is always with us- in joys and in sorrows, in travels and in rest. Mama Mary, pray for us. Happy birthday! 🤍💙

P.S. This Mama Mary statue is not for sale.

You never doubted me, Dad. And I owe it to you to believe in myself because of how you believed in me.

I always loved sharing my dreams and plans to you because you always respond with SO MUCH enthusiasm that’s larger than life!! So much love and support and confidence. Aaah! I can feel the energyyy even now.

I miss laughing over our silly inside jokes, your random texts, and walking up to get a tight morning hug from you. Every so often, I get thoughts of “Dad would love this/do this/say this if he was here.” I’d like to think for the most parts, you are really are with me, even more now that you are not limited by space and time.

I can never stop thanking God for your love for me. I’m the lucky one! Happy Father’s Day from up there 🕊️

Sometimes prayer is when you look at God and God looks at you.

Isn’t Adoration like looking at God face to face and eye to eye? He sees you. ♥️

Jesus can choose any other glorious path for his entry into this world but He chose to do it through a mother.

Mothers give birth to biological children, not without great sacrifice only great love can bear.

But also through their spiritual mothering God uses them to birth the seed of eternity into the hearts of their children and to whoever they love.

Happy Mother’s Day, dear Mamas! Your love mirrors God love to us!

We were in a retreat and I bumped into my good friend wearing the Pearl Engraved Rosary like a necklace.

She said that she wears it that way every now and then so she can pray as she goes along her day.

What a bold witness! Thank you, Betts! You inspire me 🥹

Little tips for a meaningful Holy Triduum.

1️⃣ Be fully present.
2️⃣ Less of me, more of God.
3️⃣ Find that ‘one thing’.
4️⃣ Do not strive, abide.

Finally, don’t ever forget that it all boils down to love.

What’s a tip you swear by to keep you Holy Triduum meaningful? ✨

“Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair; the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.” John 12:3

Holy Monday is significant to me because every time, the Gospel is about Mary anointing the feet of Jesus. Over 6 years ago, I remembered that my “perfumed alabaster jar” was saying yes to God to be a full-time missionary for my youth group (Christ’s Youth in Action).

Every Holy Monday then after that is always a time of asking what my perfumed alabaster jar looks like- that which I should “wastefully” pour at the feet of Jesus.

And He is always worthy of it all.

One morning I just sat and had to take in the truth that Jesus is Lord, not only of the earth, but most importantly of MY heart. I recalled who He is, His character and attributes. And I need not to go far.

I was wrapped in my Prayer Blanket that cold morning and I read the words in this piece of cloth and felt like I was wrapped in prayer and in God’s presence. He is Redeemer, Messiah, King of Kings, Lamb of God… it felt so true, because it IS true.

I hear lots of encouraging stories of how our little stuff ministers to others, especially to the sick, to those far away, to those who feel sad, etc. it keeps us going. But that morning it ministered to me.

Hi to my brave friend Nic!

We know how painful it is to see a loved one hurting, how the sickness sucks out life on the sick, how it drains the bank account, how it depletes the energy… Trust us, we’ve been there.

And so at every news or story of sickness, our heart aches as it once ached for my Dad who suffered for over 5 years before.

We could only do so much but intercede on their behalf. And we’re also blessed to be used in our feeble ways to bring comfort to them thru our products and thru our clients who continue to give them out to sick friends who need it or just to anyone who is in need of a reminder that Christ is with us in the day to day.

A shoutout to my friend, Di An, for being one who believes in our little enterprise and has always been a conduit of grace to others.

Mary our Mother, pray for us. St Perigrine, patron saint of Cancer, pray for those who are sick 🙏🏼

There was a day last week when I had to do detailed, meticulous work (that has to do with lotsa Excel 😳🤯). And my body just ached for rest, my mind longed for a break but my deadlines won’t let me.

I had to pull up a picture of St Joseph the worker, to remind me that work when offered to God and when done WITH God becomes holy!

He was an example of one who did holy work in the midst of the mundane, the simple, the repetitive, the obscure. He obeyed and did God’s will quietly, deligently, prayerfully.

On this work week and the weeks to come, St Joseph, pray for us.

Say this prayer with me,
“God our Father, Creator and Ruler of the universe, in every age you call us to use and develop our gifts for the good of others. With St. Joseph as our guide, help us to do the work you have asked and come to the rewards you have promised. Please grant this through Christ our Lord.” Amen

Quick Game: in this photo, how many St Josephs to you see? 😉 Look closely!
