𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲

Attention, sleep-deprived, caffeine-fueled IITians! Buckle up because finals week just got replaced by a bureaucratic blunder of epic proportions.

Remember that pre-finals dread that combines Kierkegaard’s angst with a three-day coding bender’s withdrawal? Well, multiply that by ‘utter bewilderment’ thanks to the arrival of a certain, shall we say, a politically-challenged individual we’ll call 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦.

That’s right. Finals? 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱. Research defenses? 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱. World-changing demos? Put on hold until 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 decides to grace us with his… presence? We’re not sure what relevance his presence holds, but apparently, it is disruptive enough to peeve our cusp of academic laurel. Such a sore eye for being a living embodiment of privilege and entitlement at the highest seat.

Remember the brutal heatwave that turned our brains to mush faster than a poorly coded program? Classes marched on. Remember the legendary PALAKASAN sweepstakes? We reveled like there was no tomorrow (because, let’s face it, finals week felt pretty close), and guess what? 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀. 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹. 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱.

But 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦? Oh, 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 gets the royal treatment. Classes suspended, schedules thrown into chaos, all because a not-so-relevant, diploma-questionable individual decides to visit. What in the name of meticulously researched archives is going on?! Security concerns? We get it. But come on, this red-clad nuisance of a vlogger isn’t exactly the Einstein of political figures.

Didn’t the 𝘋𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯, with its “Influencing the Future” mantra, learn anything from the mock elections? This guy clearly didn’t win for a reason, and that reason is probably still busy texting his ghostwriters.

𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲? Laughably illogical. The Anahaw Amphitheater sits there, collecting dust, perfectly capable of holding a crowd in broad daylight and with proper scheduling (buffered with tents)—these are concepts, people! I mean, why do things the safe and sensible way when we can get a 2 am red-tinged spectacle outside the gates, with everyone in chagrin looking like they just stumbled out of a ketchup factory. But hey, we gotta disrupt the entire campus because apparently, 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 needs the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 of a research university. It’s like inviting a raccoon to a quantum physics lecture—sure, he might be impressed by the shiny equipment, but ultimately, it is a terrible fit.

The announcement itself was delivered with the 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗴𝗴𝘆 𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮—feeling like a mousy whisper in a hurricane. Is the prestige of Dakilang Pamantasan shamefaced? They should be! Why is this individual visiting universities anyway? Looking for a taste of college life, perhaps? Couldn’t afford them the honest way, maybe? Dropped out because of “financial privileges” and a healthy dose of fabrication? The plot thickens… and stinks.

So here’s to you, 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦: the party pooper who stole not just the undeserved attention, but a precious week of academic progress. May your visit be as disruptive as your policies (which, frankly, nobody can understand).

I mean look, college is supposed to be about learning, pushing boundaries, and maybe even a decent campus visit from someone who isn’t living proof of Wikipedia’s edit button gone rogue. This is like inviting a notorious history eraser to give a lecture on the importance of historical accuracy! What’s the deal, Dakilang Pamantasan? Influencing the future by letting a walking historical inaccuracy roam the halls?

The IITians spoke volumes in the 2022 mock election, and their message remains clear: 𝗪𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗬𝗢𝗨. This visit is a slap in the face—a reminder that some things never change. Your brand of ‘influence’ is and has never been welcome in the halls of academia. You may be president, but on our turf, you're about as welcome as a bad case of food poisoning during finals week.

𝗜𝗜𝗧𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀, 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘄 (because sleep is a luxury we can no longer afford) 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹—𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹. Let this 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦’𝘴 visit be a cautionary tale, a hilarious reminder of the clowns we refuse to let influence our future!

And to 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦, a friendly word of advice: stick to attending concerts, because clearly, universities aren’t your forte.

As this day commemorates the 2022 KASAMA Elections, what continues to pique the interest of the student body among the names and platforms put up by the daring electoral challengers was the sheer quantity of contenders. In the current electoral arena, very few candidates stood up, with all posts only holding one or enough candidates to be elected. “Do the remaining students no longer have the drive to take on leadership roles?” the thinking bubble asks.

To lead when the welfare of thousands of IIT students is at stake, one needs courage and a range of other leadership values of an IITian. And as evidenced by the scarcity of candidates since the pre-pandemic election, it suggests that many IITians may no longer have the drive or the boldness and conviction that they are geared with the traits and skills necessary to govern the student body and uphold the betterment of the entire MSU-IIT community.

Consequently, the burden lies on the voters. When deprived of the choices as only enough names to be seated on all positions are listed on their ballots, how can they make the best selection for the posts?

The Silahis Publication urges a platform from this year’s candidates and soon-to-be-elected personalities to address the current predicament during their tenure; so that the student body can actually have a candidate of choice among options in the subsequent elections, rather than being compelled to either support the single candidate vying for the position or turn in the ballot with blanks on it.

We continue to serve the studentry with transparency, integrity and good governance.

Recent developments on the inclusion of graduate students in the KASAMA have raised questions among the students, for which the Party is currently seeking clarifications and answers from the KASAMA Commission on Elections.

The current standard bearer, with his sincerest intention to serve the students, has decided to tender his official withdrawal as party presidential candidate tomorrow, July 18 to avoid complicating the issue further and after due consultation with the leaders and general membership of the Party.

TINGOG, primarily its core officers, is deeply sorry for the party's lapses that caused the arisen issues, confusion, and inconveniences to everyone.

TINGOG would like to express its gratitude for its members' continued support and for the help of the students on the resolution of the issue at hand. Rest assured, the Party remains pro-student and will always listen to all student grievances and fight for their rights and welfare.

🤝 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞

This Initiative is an amalgamation of efforts that the Executive Council will exert in order to create a fun college experience for the constituents of CON. These will include actions toward the classroom environment, student concerns, social events, and to foster a sense of community and camaraderie.

🤝 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲

In order to ensure and promote the practice of transparency and accountability, the EC will push through with detailed and concise audits, and release of pertinent updates on project budgets (upon request) and any other information on pressing matters that need to be addressed within the student body. This will also trickle down to the year representatives’ proposals and audits. Executive Council Ratings and feedback from students will also be implemented. By being open to the student body about budgeting matters, donations, and important issues that need to be addressed, we foster a sense of trust and rapport with them.

🤝 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭

This project has been formulated in order to aid students in relation to the mixed set-up, providing assistance through helping in acquiring internet accessibility, providing extra face masks, alcohol, health kits, etc. taking only what they need and donating what they can. In this way we are also able to foster consideration and bayanihan among the constituents of the college/institute.

🤝 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐓𝐅 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

The EC aims to look for the possibility of implementing “Mental Health Week” into the f2f setting, as was done during pure online classes. This will be partnered with our efforts to strengthen the presence of our counselors and encourage the students to talk to these professionals if need be. In terms of physical health and wellbeing amidst the remnants of the pandemic, we will be implementing aggressive contact tracing through the use of personal QR codes distributed by the governing body, along with the implementation of standard health protocols. Rubbing alcohol and face masks will be available in exit and entrance points, classrooms, and offices for student and faculty use.

🤝 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬

In order to establish a channel for communication with the student body, the EC aims to revive CON’s social media platforms as a way for CON to reach out virtually. In the case of in-person communication, surveys, in-person consultations and inquiry may also be made through the EC office. We would also like to establish strong communication between the students and faculty through the block representatives and ensure that students’ voices are heard and valued with the greater good also in mind. The EC is also looking into the feasibility of a freedom board, and a centralized bulletin board for announcements, updated rules and regulations, reminders, and events to keep the student body up-to-date and well-informed.
