The revival of our school publication marks a momentous occasion filled with joy and gratitude. We're overjoyed to resume sharing our words and creativity with the Integrated Laboratory School community after a hiatus that felt longer than expected. This return wouldn't have been possible without the steadfast support of our school, faculty, and cherished readers.

As we wrap up another amazing school year, we, the 2023-2024 editorial board of the Blue Quill, want to take a moment to say a big thank you to each and every one of you.

This year has been a whirlwind of creativity, stories, and fun! From the first brainstorming session to our last feature news of the publication, it's been an incredible journey. We couldn't have done it without the support of our school, teachers, and of course, our awesome readers like you.

We've laughed, we've learned, and we've grown together as a team. Each article, poem, and artwork you've seen in our pages represents the hard work and passion of our fellow staff. It's been amazing to see how everyone's unique voices and talents have come together to make the Blue Quill shine.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our former ILS Director, Dr. Danilo M. Parreño and to our current ILS Director, Prof. Mary June D. Pineda for their support, and to our dedicated adviser, Ma'am Gerlie Joy Pacete, for fostering our intellectual and creative growth. We also thank the countless students whose contributions have breathed life into our pages, reflecting the rich amazing experiences of our community.

And to all the parents and guardians, thank you for cheering us on and believing in the power of creativity in education.

Grades 6, 10, and 12 students of West Visayas State University - Integrated Laboratory School (WVSU - ILS) celebrated the completion and commencement exercises on May 28, 2024, 2pm, at the WVSU Cultural Center.

The event began with the welcoming remarks of the ILS Director, Prof. Mary June D. Pineda and was followed by the inspirational message of Dr. Rico Martin I. Gerochi (DMD, MScD Periodontics, DPCOI, DAPAID, FWAUPS).

Reaching its highlights, the ILS Director presented the candidates for completion and graduation, furthermore confirmed by the University President, Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz.

On behalf of the completers and graduates, Zane Emmanuel C. Braña, Mirwela Angel C. Igpuara, and Lloyd D. Calinao of grades 6, 10, 12 respectively, delivered their valediction and message of gratitude.

Mr. Bonifacio P. Gaverza spearheaded the induction of completers and graduates into the WVSU Alumni Association. The is superseded by the graduates prayer led by Jio Niles M. Benedicto and Mary Anthea S. Jamero, Rank 3 Learners of grades 6 Malikhain and 10-Jupiter respectively.

The memories, friendships, and lessons are commemorated as the ceremony ends with the graduation song.

The Grades 4 to 12 learners of the West Visayas State University-Integrated Laboratory School attended the Recognition Program at the WVSU Cultural Center at 8:00 a.m on May 28, 2024.

The event was graced by an inspirational speaker, Dir. Mutya D. Eusores, as well as by the benefactors, Atty. Bernardo B. Dofitas, Dr. Rosalinda G. Garibay, Dr. Lagrimas L. Briones, Dr. Rejie F. Palmos, the WVSU Administrators, the parents, and the ILS faculty and staff.

The event was then followed by the Completion Ceremony of the Grade 10 and the Commencement Exercises of the Grades 6 and 12 at 1:00 pm.

The selected students of Integrated Laboratory School were up for the challenge as they joined the University of the Philippines - Diliman Pangkasaysayan KaKasa Ka Ba 2024, at UP Diliman Union Building on May 11, 2024.

This annual event, promoting the continuous learning of students about history and society, had the following contest categories:

TAGISAN NG TALINO was represented by Sean Nicholl S. Mendoza and
Aprille Reanne S. Tinducan of Grade 9 Mars.

Also, the KASANAYSAYAN (ESSAY WRITING) was represented by Mary Anthea S. Jamero and BALANGKAS (POSTER MAKING) by Samantha Nicole B. Flores of Grade 10 Jupiter.

These learners were accompanied by their coaches, Prof. Frank C. Bebit and Prof. Veronica S. Mendoza.

Members of the Integrated Laboratory School Student Council (ILSSC) participated in a transformative leadership program at University of the Philippines Visayas on May 8, 2024.

In a single day packed with insight, the seminar aimed to ignite the flames of leadership excellence and good governance among student-leaders.

The first speaker, Prof. Alfredo Diaz from UPHSI, delved into the essence of effective leadership, urging students to explore their strengths and weaknesses while fostering unity within the council.

Following the talk, Cong. Raoul Danniel A. Manu elaborated on ethical governance practices, emphasizing the importance of principles, skillsets, and community engagement for societal betterment.

Ms. Gethrode Charlotte Tan-Mabilog then shed light on Transparent Leadership, stressing the significance of integrity and credibility in disseminating information.

Joined by students from both junior and senior high schools across Iloilo City, UPHSI delivered an inspiring event aimed at nurturing future leaders and guiding them toward the path of ethical leadership.

Taga-ILS swimmers showed excellent ex*****on at the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2024 at St. John’s Institute (SJI), Talisay City last May 8, 2024.

The swimming event was participated by 𝗝𝗜𝗔 𝗗𝗘𝗔 𝗔. 𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔 in
4x50m Medley Relay where she won the silver medal and 8th place in 50m Butterfly stroke - 8th place

Also, 𝗘𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗘 𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗢 secured the silver medal in 4x50m Medley Relay.

The campaign period officially commenced on May 3, 2024. The voting dates are as follows:

May 13, 2024 for the Grades 6, 10, and 12

May 14, 2024 for the Grades 4 and 5

May 15, 2024 for the Grades 7 and 8

May 16, 2024 for the Grades 9 and 11.

West Visayas State University - Integrated Laboratory School celebrated its Promenade 2024 with the theme, “ Masquerade: Unmask the Magic, Illuminate the Night “ at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, on April 12, 2024.

Out of all the stars shining in the venue AJ NATHANIEL B. CEPEDA and THERESE MARIE B. PARCON finally emerged as the Prom King and Prom Queen of the Promenade 2024, looking stunning in their sophisticated and fashionable gown and suit.

Looking back, the promenade of the previous year, Wynn Heart Paclibar and Huey Niño Mari Ong were crowned as prom king and queen, respectively.

Meanwhile, KENO JON A. GUADALUPE and ALSEIA AIDEN I. VENTURANZA were crowned Prom Prince and Prom Princess, respectively.

Drawing near the late of night, sparks flew instantly as the juniors and seniors waltzed their feet to the music in the enchanting Cotillion de Honor.

In their own rendition of “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez, the dance floor became a canvas of different hues as beaded gowns and tailored suits glistened beneath the spotlight.

Ignited by the passion of providing service, grades six to 12 students of the Integrated Laboratory School participated in the Student Leadership Development Program (SLDP) held at the West Visayas State University NAB Function Hall on April 8, 2023.

Envisioning the governing potentials of the learners, this event aimed to broaden the knowledge of students on leadership.

Event Chairperson, Charles Matthew Buenavides, and Event Co-Chairpersons, Maria Inna Angeli Latumbo, Jaslyn Rhana Ayo and Marah Eunice Esponilla of the ILS Student Council made this event possible for the young student leaders with the guidance of their advisers, Mr. Frank C. Bebit and Prof. Merlyn F. Zolina.

Grade 10 student, SAMANTHA NICOLE B. FLORES of the Integrated Laboratory School, won 3rd place in the first-ever World Water Day On-the-spot Poster Making Contest with the theme, "Water for Peace,” on March 25, 2024, at the 4th Floor of the MIWD Activity Area, MIWD Building, Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City, Iloilo.

This event was organized by the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) and its Joint Venture Corporations (JV), Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation (MIBWSC), and Metro Pacific Iloilo Water, Inc. (MPIW) in line with the celebration of the World Water Day.

Congratulations to our participant and to her supportive coach, Ma'am Kristine Joy A. Escopel.

Taekwondo athletes from Integrated Laboratory School (ILS), represented in Taekwondo Events of the Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet (ISSC) 2024, last March 10 - 15, 2024 at Gaisano City Activity Center, Lapaz, Iloilo City.

Georgina Nicole Marquicias, Alseia Aiden Venturanza, and Therese Marie Parcon participated in the 4th, 5th, and 7th categories of the Taekwondo Secondary Girls Kyorugi Event respectively. Venturaza managed to secure the bronze medal.

Danielle Kaela Dato-on and Unah Angel Gabrielle Robante battled against other contingents in the Poomsae Event while Sirhc Einerb Damaolao and Mark Gerald Vagilidad in Boys Category

The athletes were under the care of the ever-supportive coach, Ma’am Kristine Joy Escopel.
