ACUTE GASTROENTERITIS CASES RISE

ILOILO CITY, August 29 - The Iloilo City Health Office has recorded a total of 90 cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) as of Aug. 28, 2022, with four (4) deaths.

Tanza district health center in City Proper recorded the highest with 35 AGE cases; Molo with 18; Sto. Rosario health center with 15; La Paz, 7; Mandurriao, six Arevalo, five; and Lapuz, three.

The City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) conducted case investigation and active case finding; coordinated with Tanza District Health Center regarding the health event, among others.

The CHO has already coordinated with the CESU and district health centers regarding the health event, and scheduled necessary water sampling together with the Sanitary Inspector.

Boiling of drinking water for two minutes is advised to effectively kill pathogenic organisms.

AGE symptoms include watery diarrhea; nausea, vomiting or both; stomach cramps and pain; occasional muscle aches or headache; and low-grade fever. (Iloilo City PIO)
