International Youth Day is celebrated on August 12, but the youth is present and is engaged with everyday! So, in the spirit of the theme of this year's commemoration, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," the Inter-agency Task Team on Young Key Populations (IATT) in Asia and the Pacific is championing efforts to bridge the digital divide for young key populations (YKPs). This collective effort is crucial for empowering YKPs to play a leading role in the AIDS response across the region. Addressing the digital divide ensures equitable access to essential information, healthcare services, and support networks.

Last June 28, a forum organized by EcoWaste Coalition in collaboration with Youth Voices Count, Greenpeace Iloilo Volunteers, Green Eco Warriors, and GAIA, was held in order to inform residents about the direct and indirect effects of WTE and empower them to engage in social advocacy against its potential implementation.
The event focused on discussing potential environmental and health impacts of the City government's proposed waste-to-energy (WTE) incinerator facility. It was attended by various youth and non-government organizations, aiming to raise awareness among Iloilo City residents about how WTE could affect the environment and contribute to addressing plastic pollution in the country.
Experts like Dr. Jorge Emmanuel from Siliman University and Dr. Michelle Reyes from Healthcare Without Harm presented scientific evidence on how WTE could adversely affect our environment and health. GAIA - AP (Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives) highlighted concerns about the economic burden of WTE technology, considering the Philippines' energy deficiencies. Anthony Lopez, Executive Director of YVC, emphasized the importance of community voices in influencing decisions that impact public health and well-being.

Today, we celebrate Omnis*xual & Omniromantic Pride and Visibility Day, a day that shines a light on the vibrant spectrum of human attraction and affection. It's a day to recognize those who identify as omnis*xual and omniromantic, individuals who experience romantic and s*xual attraction to all genders, acknowledging the nuances that make each connection unique.
Many people use the terms pans*xual and omnis*xual interchangeably. While they are closely related, there are differences between the two. Those who identify as pans*xual feel attraction to people without noticing their gender, while omnis*xual people recognize the gender of potential partners.
Some people put it this way: Pans*xual people are gender-blind, while omnis*xual people are not. Even though omnis*xual individuals recognize the gender of those to whom they feel a romantic attraction, it doesnтАЩt play a huge factor in their choice of partner.
By raising awareness, we're not only validating the experiences of omnis*xual and omniromantic individuals but also educating society on the rich diversity within our communities. Let's use this day to amplify omni voices, share stories, and spread love that transcends traditional boundaries. Together, we can build a more accepting and loving world. Happy Omnis*xual & Omniromantic Pride and Visibility Day!

Today, we honor the courage of those who stood at Stonewall Inn in 1969, sparking a movement that continues to inspire the LGBT youth of today. The Stonewall Riots were not just a moment in history; they were the beginning of a revolution for equality and acceptance. The bravery exhibited that night resonates deeply with the challenges still faced by many young people who are discovering their identity in a world that often greets them with resistance.
The legacy of Stonewall is a beacon of hope for LGBT youth, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey. It's a testament to the power of standing up against injustice and the importance of creating spaces where everyone can be their authentic selves. The riots remind us that progress is born from the bravery to demand change and the resilience to keep pushing forward, even when the path is fraught with obstacles. Let's continue to educate, to stand in solidarity, and to fight for a world that honors the spirit of Stonewall every day.
The courage of yesterday fuels the hope of today and the equality of tomorrow!

lululemon Southeast Asia was thrilled to announce the opening of its new store at ICONSIAM in Bangkok, marking the brand's second store in Thailand as it strengthened its commitment to the Thai market. The new lululemon store, occupying 4,413 square feet on ICONSIAM's second floor, aimed to cater to Thailand's wellness-focused population, as highlighted in lululemon's Global Wellbeing Report (GWR) where 72% of Thai respondents prioritized wellbeing. The store officially opened on 24 May 2024.
As a partner of lululemon, YVC attended the store opening preview event on May 23, 2024, where influencers and the Canadian ambassador were present. Our Executive Director, Anthony Lopez and our Network Engagement Manager, Karun Lama represented YVC at this milestone event for lululemon's expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
During the event, YVC had the opportunity to discuss potential for stronger collaboration with the lululemon team and engage with the Canadian ambassador during the event.

As we commemorate Philippine Independence Day 2024, Youth Voices Count Inc. stands in solidarity with the vibrant youth of our nation. Today marks 126 years since the Philippines emerged as a sovereign state, a testament to the courage and determination of our ancestors. This day is not just a celebration of freedom; it's a call to the youth to carry the torch of our forefathers' dreams into the future.
The importance of this day lies in remembering the past struggles and envisioning a future where every voice counts. It's about nurturing the seeds of change planted by those who fought for our rights and ensuring that their legacy continues through informed and active civic participation.
Let's use this Independence Day to inspire the youth to become catalysts for positive change, to uphold human rights, and to contribute to nation-building. As we raise our flags, let's also lift our voices in unity and pledge to make the Philippines a beacon of hope and progress. YVC encourages every young Filipino to embrace our history, celebrate our culture, and work towards a more inclusive and equitable society. Mabuhay ang kabataang Pilipino! Mabuhay ang kalayaan!

Last May 27, AMSA Singapore met up at the Clinical Sciences Building of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. It was a day of meaningful dialogue about expanding SRHR education and health services for the Trans and Inters*x community. Inspired by Dr. Jeremiah's advocacy for Transgender health, ideas were brainstormed on engaging more q***r doctors in SRHR and Justice. YVC would like to extend our thanks to Justin and Annabelle from AMSA Singapore, and Tanya Tierney, the Assistant Dean from Clinical Sciences Building!
The event also sparked discussions on exploratory HIV research in children and how to bridge service gaps. Most excitingly, fresh ideas were exchanged on involving youth in community events тАФ a step towards a more inclusive future.

Maligayang Pride Month 2024!)

We unite in the gentle glow of candlelight to remember those lost to HIV/AIDS and support those living with it. This solemn observance fosters community strength, highlights the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS, and renews our commitment to end stigma. Together, we reflect, remember, and rally for a future of hope, health, and equality. It's a moment to honor the past, cherish the present, and work towards an AIDS-free tomorrow. Let's keep the flame of awareness burning bright, and continue to light the path towards understanding and acceptance for all.
Last May 20, 2024, an event for International AIDS Candlelight Memorial was hosted by FPOP Iloilo, The Raja and Diwata sang Iloilo, Provincial Health Office, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Iloilo, Love Yourself, Champion Community Center, Protects, and PSFI, HAKUS of WVSU. Advocating for HIV and AIDS awareness is not merely a moral obligation but a pragmatic approach to a global health challenge. It is an endeavor that requires the participation of all sectors of society. As we continue to advance in our understanding and treatment of HIV, let us not forget the power of advocacy in shaping a world where HIV and AIDS no longer pose a threat to humanity's future.
