TOURISM : The World Famous Asia's Mardi Gras Kalibo Ati-Atihan 2023
Preparations are underway for the biggest regional festival in Kalibo, Aklan this January.
The municipal government of Kalibo through the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival Board will spearhead the first face-to-face celebration, two years after the pandemic brought to a halt the Kalibo festival.
Kalibo mayor Juris Bautista Sucro has issued Executive Order No. 47-A on October 21, 2022 creating the working and event committees for the 2023 Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Festival.
“There is a challenge to make it better year after year, particularly that various festivals in the country are replicating its success story, thus there is a pressing need to sustain develop and further promote it (Kalibo Ati-Atihan),” Sucro stressed.
Kalibo Ati-Atihan, perhaps the most popular and grandest Ati-Atihan celebration in the country, will push through on January 7 to 15, 2023 in honor of Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo after the difficult years dealing with a deadly virus.
