In the recent decade, researchers have become increasingly interested in the link between poverty and a lack of education. Poverty, in general, conjures up images of educational failure, implying that children born into poverty are trapped in a cycle of poverty from which they will never be able to escape. Poverty has far-reaching consequences for children, and it can lead to lifetime challenges, particularly for young people who do not obtain a complete education.
Poverty and education are intimately intertwined because poor people may skip school in order to work, leaving them without the literacy and numeracy skills necessary to advance their professions. Years later, their children face a similar scenario, with little cash and little options other than to drop out of school and work.
Through numerous educational and livelihood programs, ChildFund aims to help families break the cycle of poverty. We frequently learn by listening to communities and working to meet their individual requirements.
