Silangang Mayao Elementary School hosts Grand Kick-Off Ceremony for DepEd's Innovative Catch-Up Fridays Program.

In support of DepEd Memo 001 series 2024, the Catch-Up Fridays every Friday starting January 12, 2024, the school has the kick-off ceremony program wherein teachers and learners join together to have meaningful and interactive activities supporting the Catch-Up Friday Program. The program started with a prayer by Dr. Weniliza G. Rada, followed by a rationale given by the SMES- OIC Dr. Marilyn C. Tomelden. Teacher Bhem V. Cusi narrates a fable story to the audience, followed by comprehension questions from Teacher Maria Thelma M. Tamayo. Then, our dear PSDS Eden Reazo rendered her short message to the learners. She encouraged all the learners to support the Friday program and enjoyed all the activities every Friday. She wants the teachers to prepare all the activities to enhance learners’ knowledge and skills in appreciation with reading, values, health peace education, and homeroom guidance. Finally, teacher Rosemarie A. Calma gave her closing remarks. This program every Friday focuses the learners on values formation, their health, peace, and more importantly, their reading skills. All Fridays will be dedicated to DROP EVERYTHING AND READ (DEAR); this is an opportunity for learners to increase their love for reading and give them appropriate strategies and materials for reading.

SMES receives Aqua Tower

It is a December to remember. Silangang Mayao Elementary School is very grateful to Planet Water Foundation and GT Foundation for the hand over of a fully commissioned Aqua Tower last December 12, 2023. In the final month of the year 2023, a change in the school health landscape is seen in educational setting. We are now promoting safe water to drink, regular handwashing activities including sanitation and hygiene. School life has truly changed! The genuine smiles and natural excitement on the faces of our learners bring joy to our heart.

The provision of clean and safe drinking water through the Aqua Tower is more than a gift; it's a lifeline that will positively impact the lives of our learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and the entire school community. Planet Water Foundation's commitment to addressing water scarcity is transforming our environment, promoting health, and empowering us to build a brighter future.

The installation of the Aqua Tower not only quenches our thirst but symbolizes a partnership that goes beyond words. It stands as a testament to the belief that everyone deserves access to clean water, regardless of their circumstances. Our school is now equipped with a sustainable water solution that will serve generations to come.

This partnership was made possible through Sir Chino Negrete and Engineer King Sison of Planet Water Foundation.
