A total of 32 blood bags were donated by eight volunteers from Drake Business Services Asia (DBSA) at a bloodletting event at Santa Ana Elementary School in Pateros. The program was organized by the Pateros Triskelion Grand Council (PTGC), in collaboration with Serving Hearts Charity.

"Not all heroes wear capes," said John Michael Cuevas, PTGC chair. "The DBSA and the Pateros Triskelion efforts have undoubtedly saved lives and make a difference for those in need."

As part of its environmental management initiatives, DBSA partnered with award-winning science diplomat and The Outstanding Filipino Laureates Glenn Banaguas and Fr. Ben Beltran, SVD for a tree-planting activity in Tanay, Rizal. This comes right after we received our ISO 14001 certification for environmental management systems.

Over 30 DBSA employees, along with some family members, participated in planting more than 200 bamboo seedlings on a one-hectare plot. Next month, the team will plant an additional 200 bamboo seedlings on another one-hectare plot. The bamboo planted across these two hectares is expected to sequester 126 tons of carbon, offsetting DBSA’s annual carbon emissions of about 100 tons.

“This tree-planting event is one of many initiatives DBSA has implemented to combat climate change and operate sustainably and ethically. The company has already transitioned some of its messenger teams to e-bikes to reduce environmental impact. We will continue to collaborate with our clients to manage carbon emissions and environmental impact,” said DBSA country director Dr. Krees Castaneda.

HR officer Arnie Pascual and payroll specialist Lei Vidad recently led an engaging town hall with DBSA team members assigned to the BGC and Makati offices of an insurance client. With 50 attending, this town hall is the second in a series that HR has organized.

Arnie shared, “It was a day of productive discussions concerning employee movement—including promotions, transfers, changes in employment status—retro pay, and other pressing concerns.” This was also a chance for HR to connect with employees outside the HQ.

One of the positive feedback HR received was from Gaudencio Evangelio of the mailroom, who commended them for their “willingness to offer assistance to every team member” and the “quality [of] attention they give to every inquiry.”

This two-day town hall is one of many people-focused initiatives our HR team has organized this year, under the leadership of HR Manager Con Valenzuela. Recently, they conducted an employee engagement survey, revealing that 93% of DBSA employees feel safe in the workplace.
