01/07/2024

July is traditionally the Month dedicated to honoring and showing devotion to the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

"He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross." Colossians 1:18-20.

Even if we are unable to go to church, even if the Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Litany of the Sacred Heart are not prayed in your church, you can always pray these privately before midnight.

From the Ordo 2024, p. 121
Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Day of Prayer for Sanctification of Priests.

"Today, in any church, public and semipublic oratory, the prayer of reparation should be read and the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus should be sung or recited before the Blessed Sacrament exposed. (cf.) Plenary Council, n. 558)."

Many of the greatest saints of the Church, including Don Bosco, passionately fought Freemasonry and its influence. The Catholic Church continues to hold the line by making it clear to the faithful that being Catholic is incompatible with Freemasonry.

The following is a list of reasons why Catholics cannot be Freemasons, as summarized by the Diocese of Bacolod's Office of Exorcism in 2021.

TEN REASONS CATHOLICS CANNOT BE MASONS
Freemasonry, contrary to public perception, is a secret society rather than a fraternity. Its principles are fundamentally contrary to the Catholic faith and explicitly deny key tenets of Christianity. Below are ten reasons why Catholics cannot be Masons or participate in their activities.

1). The Holy See on Nov. 26, 1983, at the direction of the Pope, issued a "Declaration on Masonic Associations" restating the Church's position condemning the basic principles of Freemasonry. It also states that Catholics who join Masonic organizations are in a state of grave sin and are automatically denied Holy Communion.

2). God as described in Masonic works is an impersonal "Great Architect of the Universe," not the personal God of the Patriarchs, the One True God of Revelation, the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.

3). Masonic writings specifically deny that God has revealed Himself and His truths to us, or that He ever established a Church.

4). In Masonry Jesus Christ is portrayed as merely a man, a great teacher, on a par with Buddha or Mohammed and His Divinity is denied.

5). The Trinity is denied and compared to the "trinities"of pagan religions. The Holy Spirit is blasphemed by Masonry's denial of the Divine Inspiration of Scripture.

6). Christianity is considered a derivative of ancient pagan religions and like all religions deliberately ladens itself with error. God is portrayed as a deceiver who leads many men away from truth as not all are worthy of it.

7). All truth is relative according to Masonry, thereby rejecting objective, absolute truth and therefore the dogmas of the Catholic faith.

8). Freemasonry is portrayed as the foundation of all religion and it is built on Naturalism, a system of belief that makes human nature and human reason supreme in all things.

9). At the various degrees when an oath is sworn, even the initial ones, it is a blood oath swearing for example, "binding myself by no less penalty than that of having my throat cut from ear to ear, my tongue torn out by its roots, and buried in the sands of the sea..." This is a real oath sworn with one's hand on the Bible or Torah, etc.

10). One can easily be deceived by Masonry's rituals and symbols that an objective transformation of man is being carried out. This will lead one away from the workings of God's grace especially manifested in the Sacraments instituted by Christ. Remember, Masonry denies Christ's Divinity and therefore His role as our Savior. The Sacred Heart: Synthesis of All Catholic Doctrine 17/06/2023

"The Sacred Heart is not a simple devotion of sentiment - it is not even a special isolated dogma. It is the synthesis of all Catholic doctrine, of the whole Catholic moral law summed up in the love of Jesus Christ for us and of our love for Jesus Christ. There is then for us a theology of the Sacred Heart. This theology, according to Saint Augustine and Bossuet, from the consideration that God is the eternal Heart -- God is love (1 Jn 4:8) -- finds in this charity the purpose if not the explanation of the whole series of Christian mysteries."

Living with the Trinity -- Divine Initimacy Meditation 04/06/2023

On this great Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, we recommend the following meditation on the Trinity, taken from the spiritual classic "Divine Intimacy".

A beautiful excerpt:

"First, we should consider the three divine Persons present within us, in Their indivisible unity. We already know that everything done by the Trinity “ad extra,” that is, outside the Godhead, is the work of all three divine Persons without distinction; hence, this applies to Their action in our soul. All Three dwell equally in us. They are there simultaneously and They all produce the same effects in us. All Three diffuse grace and love in us; They enlighten us, offer us Their friendship and love us with one and the same love. Still this does not prevent each of Them from being present in our soul with the characteristics proper to His Person: the Father is there as the source and origin of the divinity and of all being; the Word is present as the splendor of the Father, as light; the Holy Spirit, as the fruit of the love of the Father and of the Son. Each divine Person, then, loves us in His own personal way and offers us His special gift. The Father offers us His most sweet paternity; the Son clothes us with His shining light; the Holy Spirit penetrates us with His ardent love. And we, insignificant creatures, should try to realize that we have such great gifts, so that we may fully profit by them."

Liturgical Year : June (Monthly Overview) 04/06/2023

"The Month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. The Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Friday following the second Sunday after Pentecost. In addition to the liturgical celebration, many devotional exercises are connected with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Of all devotions, devotion to the Sacred Heart was, and remains, one of the most widespread and popular in the Church.

Understood in the light of the Scriptures, the term "Sacred Heart of Jesus" denotes the entire mystery of Christ, the totality of his being, and his person considered in its most intimate essential: Son of God, uncreated wisdom; infinite charity, principal of the salvation and sanctification of mankind. The "Sacred Heart" is Christ, the Word Incarnate, Saviour, intrinsically containing, in the Spirit, an infinite divine-human love for the Father and for his brothers."

[REFLECTION] Joseph, son of Jacob, patron of the Universal Church 01/03/2023

Reminder: March is the month of St. Joseph!

"It is in St. Joseph that we are reminded that faith, like gold, is tested by fire. His ancestor Abraham’s faith was tested by the near loss of his son Isaac in a sacrifice that God ordered but, also by God’s order, was never carried out (Gen 22:2, 11-12). Abraham’s complete trust in and obedience to God not only illustrated his faith and how it is abundantly rewarded but also defined his character, the end-result of his fire-tried faith which “was credited to him as righteousness (Rom 4:22). St. Joseph’s faith was likewise tested by the pregnancy of Mary which he intended to deal with through a secret divorce (Mt 1:19). But when told by the Lord’s angel that the child in her was of the Holy Spirit, Joseph also believes, trusts and obeys the word from above that he take Mary as his wife (Mt 1:20-24). Like his ancestor Abraham, St. Joseph shows us a faith that remains strong even when the trial he faces defies logic and common sense."

[REFLECTION] Joseph, son of Jacob, patron of the Universal Church Let me begin with a personal note. The more I think of St. Joseph, the less I am able to detach myself from memories of my late father.

The Spiritual Testament of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI - Vatican News 02/01/2023

"Stand firm in the faith! Do not be confused!" - Benedict XVI.

The Spiritual Testament of Benedict XVI, published Dec. 31 (Jan. 1 Manila time), is a must-read for all who teach, propose and defend the Catholic faith.

From the Testament:

"What I said earlier of my compatriots, I now say to all who were entrusted to my service in the Church: Stand firm in the faith! Do not be confused! Often it seems as if science - on the one hand, the natural sciences; on the other, historical research (especially the exegesis of the Holy Scriptures) - has irrefutable insights to offer that are contrary to the Catholic faith. I have witnessed from times long past the changes in natural science and have seen how apparent certainties against the faith vanished, proving themselves not to be science but philosophical interpretations only apparently belonging to science - just as, moreover, it is in dialogue with the natural sciences that faith has learned to understand the limits of the scope of its affirmations and thus its own specificity. For 60 years now, I have accompanied the path of theology, especially biblical studies, and have seen seemingly unshakeable theses collapse with the changing generations, which turned out to be mere hypotheses: the liberal generation (Harnack, Jülicher, etc.), the existentialist generation (Bultmann, etc.), the Marxist generation. I have seen, and see, how, out of the tangle of hypotheses, the reasonableness of faith has emerged and is emerging anew. Jesus Christ is truly the Way, the Truth, and the Life - and the Church, in all her shortcomings, is truly His Body."

The Spiritual Testament of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI - Vatican News The Holy See releases the Spiritual Testament of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, dated 29 August 2006.
