As part of our Street Program, Virlanie Foundation's Mobile Unit brings essential services directly to children and their families in street-based situations. This lifeline provides WAYS (Walk your way to School) – which prepares children to enter, resume, or pursue formal or informal education; the Livelihood Program – which provides skills training that will help the family generate income and be self-sufficient; and Family Case Management – which includes monitoring, birth certificate registration and other support to help children heal and grow.

We make sure no child is left behind by going to where they are. Together, we can continue bringing hope and opportunity to the streets. Your support matters! To donate, visit www.virlanie.org/donate

Virlanie Masaya Home was recently filled with joy and gratitude as Jassel and Jasder, former Virlanie beneficiaries, visited them with their adoptive parents. The siblings were reunited with Masaya kids, former house parents, and staff reminiscing about their cherished memories. Their adoptive parents also recounted their adoption journey, sharing that love binds and unites them all.

The story of Jassel and Jasder teaches us that family extends beyond bloodlines, it’s about the relationships we make and the lives we transform together.

The Philippine and Canadian Navy visited Virlanie and hosted an outreach activity for the young adults and children of the foundation. Apart from the coloring activity, the navies prepared a fun game wherein the kids and their navy partners would portray how an animal walks or jumps. The children showed enthusiasm, laughter, and smiles as they interacted with the navies. The kids also shared their talents as they prepared a dance number and a mini dance party with the navies. Virlanie Voices also showed their singing talents as they serenaded the event and sang their hearts out. The presence of two different citizenships and cultures reminded us of the importance of solidarity among countries in building a unified goal of making a difference. Through this event, we forget our differences and aim for equality instead. Thank you, Philippine and Canadian Navy, for your generosity in making this event happen for our children!

Information Technology 101: Digital Literacy and Cybersecurity Training was made possible through the initiative of MakeSense Philippines, as they extend help and information about today’s digital world to the beneficiaries of Virlanie’s Community Program. Through this event, children and young adults can see and hold the different parts of a computer, such as the RAM, motherboard, hard drive, mainboard, and more. The goal of this training is to teach them the parts of a computer, the use of Microsoft applications such as creating invitations through Word, different etiquette when creating emails and social media posts, the harms of the digital world, and lastly, the types of cyberbullying and its harmful effects. Thank you, MakeSense Philippines, for teaching us how to strive more to make the digital world a safer and more productive platform for all of us. πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ‘Ύ

The Aral, Laro, Aliw para sa mga Bata, or ALAB, program of the Community Program held its graduation ceremony in Parola, Tondo. Through ALAB, each child was given the opportunity to strive to be better in terms of academic performance. Together with the selfless and unwavering hearts of the youth volunteers from the community program, they were able to teach basic English, reading and writing skills, math, and science subjects. Aside from academic assistance, ALAB also provides activities to help these children develop their interpersonal skills, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. The HUMED Medical Students traveled all the way from France to the Philippines to volunteer their time, effort, and dedication, together with the health services of Virlanie, for the street program beneficiaries in Aroma, Tondo. They have provided medicines for common illnesses like colds, coughs, fevers, and even vitamins to aid our beneficiaries in achieving a healthier version of themselves. Ear check-ups, checking of blood pressures, and with the help of four great doctors Dra. Andrea Pamela Razon, Dra. Olivia Manalad, Dra. Franchette An Sy, Dra. Gianina Limbo, the beneficiaries were able to get the help they needed. The power of compassion and healthcare is brought to a place where access to basic healthcare services is almost impossible. But through this collaboration and the spirit of volunteerism and service, it not only brought treatments but also hope. πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

A 35% increase in the adolescent pregnancy rate in the country is an alarming issue that needs to be addressed by making s*x education in homes, schools, and adolescent-friendly health services available to girls aged 15 and under.

Common causes such as social and cultural pressures, poverty, and restricted access to s*x education and contraceptives made the country vulnerable to such cases, and it is one of the countries that has the highest adolescent birth rates in Asia.

This saddening news creates a ripple of negative effects both to the bearing mother and child such as lower educational and employment attainment. Early deaths can also be experienced by mothers due to complications.

Let's help prevent Adolescent Pregnancy! Instead, let's be bearers of hope!
