“May inflation rises to 3.9%, highest in five months” - Inquirer

The Philippines’ headline inflation went up to its highest in five months in May due to faster increases in the cost of housing, utilities, gas and other fuels, and transportation, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Wednesday.

Preliminary data from the agency showed the consumer price index rose by 3.9 percent year on year in May, faster than the 3.8 percent in April, but slower than the 6.1 percent in May 2023.

No one, whether an individual or a company, can achieve long term success without sustainability at their DNA. This sums up the message of the First Annual Sustainability Conference, yesterday, January 11, 2024.

It was a full packed event. We had to ask Crowne Plaza for additional tables and chairs as there were still a lot of people lining up to enter the venue.

Did we expect an over turnout for the event? No. We knew there would be a lot of people interested to learn about sustainability, just not that much.

We are grateful. I am grateful for the overwhelming support for this first conference. Kudos to our speakers for their presentations and amazing accomplishments in the field of sustainability. This is a testament that people, planet and profitability go hand in hand. Thank you to our sponsors who supported us in this event. Thank you to PICPA MMR for the collaboration on the event management. You guys are the best event management people there is!

The Board of the Association of CPAs for Sustainability was apprehensive in holding this event in January. It turns out, it was just right! God is good 🙏

It will take multi disciplines and a lot of people to make the difference we desire. But we have already started. We hope you can walk with us in this journey once again.

Indeed, there is a lot to talk about regarding Sustainability Towards a Regenerative Future. My only hope in organizing this conference is so we may be reminded each day that each of us has a role to play in this journey towards sustainability. It's not just about big corporations making big changes. It's about us. How our every decision, every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger, regenerative future. It challenges us to think about how our skills in financial stewardship can contribute to a world where economic growth does not come at the expense of our planet.
