The 2022 World Music Festival @ Taiwan was held from October 14th to 16th in the scenic setting of Taipei Dajia Riverside Park. Talahib People's Music had the honor of participating in this prestigious annual gathering that celebrates the diversity and richness of world music.

This festival serves as a platform that connects Taiwan's unique music forms to the international stage, promoting Taiwanese performers abroad, while also attracting an eclectic mix of musicians from around the globe. It is Taiwan's largest outdoor music festival of the world’s music genre, and each year it brings together a medley of performances, offering a cross-regional music experience that resonates with audiences worldwide.

In 2022, the festival line-up was as diverse and exciting as ever, and among the standout acts was Talahib People's Music. The band was fortunate to be part of this extraordinary event that offers a global stage less reliant on commercial validation, thereby providing a refreshing perspective on world music.

A key highlight of Talahib People's Music's performance at the festival was their rendition of "Magkaisa sa Kapayapaan" as their finale. In efforts to further enrich valuable knowledge of Asian culture and music, especially of the Philippines, Talahib People's Music members join the recently concluded SAMOT SARI VIII: Asian Music Week celebration last December 13th to 15th.

SAMOT SARI is a cherished tradition by Tugtugang Musika Asyatika (TUGMA), held annually. A unique opportunity to learn and participate in playing traditional Asian instruments, immersing yourself in the rich sounds and rhythms that define our heritage. But more than that, it is a community-centered approach to music - getting to experience what it's like to create music as part of a group, fostering connections through the universal language of music.

The free admissions simultaneous workshops that took place in the UP College of Music-Diliman were Cordillera Bamboo and Song, Korean Samulnori, Indonesian Gamelan, and finally, the Kulintangan and Pangalay.

Our utmost respect and thanks to everyone from TUGMA;
To the very accommodating members, to the Alumni who headed in facilitating the workshops, and of course to the current org president Govinda Sanglay for having us!

We hope to have more opportunities to work with all of you soon!
