Our Story
BRIEF HISTORY
The Beatitudes Youth Ministry (BYM) Lay Foundation Inc., started as a small group known only as BYM. It was composed of volunteers from the third year and fourth year high school students coming from th Pasay City Wes High School and Pasay City East High School.
The BYM was organized and founded on December 8, 1990 by Fr. Jesus “Richie” Santos, Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) in the Philippines while he was commissioned by his Provincial Superior to work in the campus ministry in Pasay Public High Schools. He befriended some students and then later on asked them to help him out in his apostolate. After been slowly trained in leadership and formed in “BOSCONIAN” way during weekends, they became regular facilitators in giving the Values Formation Seminar (VFS) through recollections, Holy Mass and Confessions. Finally after close study and reflection they decided to commit themselves to share they’re giftedness to their Alma Mater inspired by the three ultimate objectives: to form/join the GROUP, to render SERVICE to their fellow youth and to inspire MODEL to the young people.
The group soon grew in numbers when the other Pasay Public High Schools of North and South were given the VFS under Fr. Mike Cipriano, SDB who replaced Fr. Richie Santos in 1995. The Sunday Gospel Sharing (SGS) and Family Rosary Crusade (FRC), recollections, retreat, Youth Encounter and summer camps.
The group did not limit itself in giving spiritual and human formation and leadership in Pasay but also elsewhere where they were given the chance or requested by other organization and parishes.
