Minsan, madaling makalimot na credit card is a tool—not free money. Pag walang plano, madali kang mahulog sa trap ng overspending, only to feel stressed when the bills arrive.

Pero here’s the thing: credit cards can work for you, not against you, if you’re mindful.

Plan your purchases, buy only what you can afford, and take advantage of rewards or points. If used wisely, credit cards can actually help you build good credit standing or manage emergency expenses.

Instead of letting it control you, use your credit card to benefit your financial goals. Mag-set ng boundaries, monitor your expenses, and pay on time.

At the end of the day, you should be in control of your money, not the other way around. 💳✨

Hindi naman 'yan dumating nang kusa.
Pinili mo 'yan.

Isn’t it only fair that you pay for these?
Money is a medium of exchange, and paying your bills is part of that cycle.

Instead of resenting your bills, be grateful that you have the capacity to pay them. 😉
But if paying certain bills doesn’t feel good, maybe it’s time to evaluate if they truly add value to your life.

IS YOUR MONEY SMILING?

I remember how unhealthy my relationship with money was before. Yung tipong it feels like it’ll never be enough no matter how much I earn.

I always prioritize saving over comfort and takot ako bumili ng kahit ano for myself just because I’m worried na baka maubusan ako ng pera.
MY MONEY WASN’T SMILING. ☹️

I never get to enjoy the fruits of my labor. And I know na this mindset was heavily influenced by the beliefs the people surrounding me growing up have.

It’s always “Wag muna tayo bumili nyan." "Tsaka nalang" or “Mahirap kitain ang pera.” I'm not discounting the fact ha na minsan kailangan naman talaga magtipid.

I realized something had to change when my friend pointed it out. Sabi nya, "gumastos at mag-enjoy ka naman."

Kaya, I’m also very grateful to her for introducing Ken Honda. Because Ken’s teachings helped me reframe my relationship with money. His book Happy Money challenged my old beliefs.

Instead of fear and scarcity, I only now have gratitude and abundance. It took me a while, pero ngayon I’m at peace with my finances.
More importantly, I get to enjoy life more. ❤

I had the privilege of meeting Ken Honda when he spoke at the recently concluded National Achiever’s Congress! Anybody na nag attend din?

Ibang-iba yung aura niya, it’s light and welcoming.

P.S. sharing learnings and other resources inside our community, MIP Powerhouse. See you inside!

"Oh kelan na kayo maga anak?"

Isn't it ironic how our elders urge our generation to have kids while they also depend on us financially? Nakaka gulat kaya ang presyo ng milk formula and tuition.

The best gift we can give the next generation is to be as self-sufficient as possible, allowing our future children the freedom to enjoy their own money.

Imagine the joy of being treated by our children out of love, not guilt or obligation.

You know, I sometimes forget how rich I really am.

Hindi naman unlimited ang financial resources ko , but when I take a moment to look around, I realize na sobrang blessed ko pala. My aircon works when I need it—lalo na halos all year round summer sa Pinas, hindi lahat may ganyang luxury. I can buy a whole cake or pizza whenever I want, kahit pa minsan may konting guilt, it’s a simple pleasure I can afford.

And then there are the little things na madalas kong nakakaligtaan—like having decent clothes to wear every day and a comfortable bed to sleep on every night. Hindi lahat may ganyang comfort, and it’s something I should be more grateful for.

Sometimes, in our hustle and grind, nakakalimutan natin to appreciate these simple luxuries. We get caught up sa mga bagay na wala tayo, yung mga goals na hindi pa natin naaabot. But when you really think about it, being able to meet your needs and enjoy a few wants, it’s more than enough.

I’m reminding myself that I’m beyond blessed in ways I often take for granted.

So today, let’s take a moment to pause and be thankful. Yes?

Comment “Grateful!” if you feel the same way.

Saving is a lifestyle, not a temporary fix. It's not about cutting costs temporarily but making sustainable choices that support your financial goals. 🎯

Are you unknowingly sabotaging your finances?

Isa mga mga bagay na pwedeng mag make or break ng financial success ay SETTING BOUNDARIES. 🫠

It’s easy to say, "Save up for goal X, prepare a fund for goal Y, minimize expenses on category Z," right?

Theoretically, it all sounds simple. Pero sa totoo lang, the challenge begins when the people around us cross our boundaries—and we let them.

In my experience as a coach, awareness is half the battle. Many times, we don’t even realize that our boundaries are being overstepped until it’s too late.

That’s why, early on in my coaching programs, we dive deep into exploring my clients' habitudes, limiting beliefs, household situations, and other factors that may affect their boundaries.

Establishing healthy boundaries isn’t just about saying “no” to others; it’s also about saying “yes” to yourself and your financial goals.

The biggest wins my clients achieve aren’t always about earning millions or stacking up six-digit savings accounts. The real win lies in getting good at setting those boundaries— with their old selves and especially with other poeple.

IYKYK

Remember, getting good at establishing boundaries can be the difference between merely setting financial goals and actually achieving them. So, how strong are your financial boundaries?

𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗗 𝗡𝗔 𝗔𝗞𝗢

As I was heading to an event where I was invited to give a talk, I couldn't help but feel emotional. Five years ago, I traveled the same roads to deliver a talk, but the experience was vastly different.

What's changed?

Back then, I had to ride 3 jeepneys para makarating sa venue - hindi na white yung blouse ko pagdating. 😅
Now, I have the convenience of a Grab ride.

Before, meryenda lang ok na sa akin.
Now, may official PF na.

Before, nahihiya akong magtanong kung paid ba.
Now, I am asked about my fee upfront.

Five years ago, I never imagined this would be possible. I am eternally grateful to the people who trusted me kahit beginner palang ako.

To anyone just starting out, embrace every hurdle as a chance to grow and learn. Huwag tayong entitled kaagad. Everyone begins from somewhere.

To my younger self, I hope I’m making you proud. 🥹

HEALTH is WEALTH 💪

Today, I am celebrating a year of fulfilling a promise to myself: My health and fitness will no longer be optional.

When I turned 30 last year, sabi ko di na pwede yung sedentary lifestyle ko. I am within my normal BMI weight pero laging lethargic, malala ang acid reflux, at masakit lagi ang likod. All these in addition to my PCOS.

Alam mo yung andami mo pang gustong gawin pero di kaya ng katawang lupa mo?

Eh paano na yung multi-millionaire dreams ko?! 😆

So I decided to take my health seriously. Hindi yung magwo workout lang kapag 'may time', 'di pagod', or ‘pag sinipag'.

I started working out at home. I didn't buy any equipment or workout clothes. My goal was to build the habit.

After a month, I enrolled sa gym. Di ko pinili kung ano yung pinaka mura or pinaka maganda. I chose the closest to my place para wala nang excuse na di pumunta.

Intimidating at first sa gym so mega research ako, I got a coach for the first few sessions and followed a program - Minimalist Fitness for women. Gusto ko yung simple lang.

Over the course of 1 year, syempre di naman ako sobrang consistent. May weeks or even a month na di ako nakakapag gym or bumabalik sa bad habits pero nakaka bawi naman uli.

I also incorporated other activities like freediving and dancing. 😁

After a year, wala pa din akong abs but I'm much stronger and confident about my body. Dahil jan mas productive ako at on track na uli sa multimillionaire dreams. Haha!

But seriously, fitness is a multiplier. When you are physically and mentally healthy, maraming aspect ng buhay mo ang magi-improve. ✨️

Tara buhat at sayaw!

Happy to witness The Woke Salaryman book launch here in Manila!

Their vision to continuously make personal finance simple and relatable is so inspiring. Natawa nalang din ang audience when they were asked what’s their plan in the next 1 to 3 years, “not be bankrupt” daw 😅

My favorite chapter on their book so far is Structure vs. Agency. Sabi nga dun, life is unfair. We start off at unequal points with unequal resources.

Structure means we cannot control what country we’re born into, what family class, culture etc.

Agency on the other hand is how much free will an individual has in their choices. This includes habits, values, the people you surround yourself with.

Both play an important role on how our lives play out so it’s important to be empathetic to others less privileged, and be grateful for the opportunities you have. ❤️

WHY I STOPPED PREPARING FOR RETIREMENT

"Paano ka nga pala naghahanda for retirement?"

I was caught off guard nung biglang tinanong sa akin yan ng isang coaching client during a check-in session.

Eh di umamin nalang ako. I stopped funding my traditional retirement accounts for more than two years already.

Nahiya ako nung una kasi tinuturo ko pa naman how to prepare for retirement tapos ako huminto.

But then I explained to her why.

I stopped investing in my trad retirement accounts because I am funding my semi-retired life.

Ano yun?

✨️For me, semi-retirement is retiring from a job or employment so I can focus on pursuing my purpose i.e. growing my financial coaching business and make time for my other passions like dancing and traveling.

I had to prioritize kaya huminto muna ako sa ibang pinag-iipunan to prepare for semi-retirement.

How much do I need to set aside?

I thought she'll be disappointed kasi nga ako mismong coach niya paused on funding my trad retirement fund. On the contrary, she asked for more info how I did it kasi parang gusto na din niya daw i-pursue yung path na 'to. Nabudol pa. 😅

Honestly, it's not for everyone. You need to have a solid purpose. For me, it's because want to do things on my own terms, in my own time - FREEDOM.

I know how difficult it is na pagsabayin ang trabaho and building a side hustle hoping it could be your main source of income someday.

If you want to be wealthy, the first step is to...

BE COMFORTABLE WITH MONEY

What do I mean by this?

Be comfortable talking about money so you'll learn, grow, and share your knowledge.

Be comfortable with having money so you won't get rid of it by buying things you don't really need or want.

Be comfortable with spending money so you won't feel guilty buying things for yourself or for the people you love.

Be comfortable with asking for money so you don't have to feel bad when asking for help or kapag naniningil ng utang. lol

Be comfortable with receiving money because you deserve all the good things money can help you achieve.
..and the list goes on!

P.S. As a bookworm, one practical way I do to be comfortable with money is use paper bills as bookmarks!

"Kaya ko naman kitain yun uli."

That's the thought I've been holding on to tuwing maiisip ko lahat ng losses ko sa trading, investments at small businesses ko before.

When I disclosed in one speaking engagement how much I lost so far... I saw the horror in their faces! 😬

I was afraid to come off as insensitive or mayabang. That's why I never mentioned that statement to anyone until yesterday.

I was talking to my friends in our trading community and we were discussing our losses. I noticed na hindi sila mukhang worried so tinanong ko, "nafi-feel nyo din ba yun na hindi nakakatakot yung losses kasi alam mo namang mababawi mo rin?"

Their faces lit up at super nag agree sila! Here are some of their insights:

"Kung magmumukmok ka lang at wala nang gagawin, lalo kang talo."

"Bigyan mo lang sarili mo ng 5min para magdrama tapos strategize na uli kung ano next move!"

✨️Then I realized, ito pala talaga yung ibig sabihin ng "invest in yourself". Kasi if you have the skills and confidence kahit magback to zero ka, alam mong makaka bangon ka uli.

Of course privilege plays a huge role din. And it takes time to acquire skills and build up your confidence as a money maker.

Kung ako mawalan ng 5 to 6-digits eight years ago, eh di ko rin kakayanin noh. But now that I am more confident about what I can bring to the table, I am able to absorb more risks.

Ayun... and we went on to discuss about trading, biz and chismis.

The funny part is, nung magbabayad na sa cafè napansin namin pare pareho kaming walang matinong wallet. 😆

✨Got My 1st Million by Doing These 3 Things

I've heard people say that a million isn't much anymore. Whether I agree or not, it’s undeniable that reaching a million is a milestone many aspire to achieve.

I hit this milestone in 2019. Looking back, here are the 3 biggest factors that helped me achieve my 1st M, with the last one having the most impact:

1. Investing but not in the usual context

In 2019, my investments were just about 3 years old. My risk profile was aggressive, with most investments in the local stock market. Despite that, learning and actually investing drove me to set aside money from my income. I'll always be in awe of how compound interest works. Today, my portfolio is more balanced, reflecting my risk appetite and life goals.

2. Increase income by building one source at time

The younger me would say, "Build multiple sources of income". Tama naman yun pero based on my experience, mas accurate yung focus on building one income source at a time. In my case, I excelled at my corporate job and pursued side hustles. Little did I know, I was building a personal brand and a financial coaching business. It was like hitting two birds with one stone - more cash flow and discovering my purpose.

Side note: You don’t need multiple income sources to succeed. You can earn more by becoming exceptional at one thing.

3. Managing Money Well

This had the greatest impact. Kahit gaano ka kalakas kumita, kung di maayos ang pag-handle mo ng pera, you’ll never grow your wealth. Managing your money well means being aware of your income and expenses, being intentional with spending, and preparing for near-term goals. After reviewing dozens of financial statements, I can confidently say, kung gusto mo ng 1M or to save in general, wag mo hintayin na tumaas ang income bago ka magsimulang mag-manage ng pera. Start wherever you are right now.

Which of these 3 are you currently practicing? How's your experience? O baka may iba din kayong way na ginawa?

Nanginginig pa ako as I was entering the CVV of my credit card nung nasa checkout page na.

After days of contemplating and asking my friends kung i-push ko na ba talaga, I finally made the decision to purchase a 6-digit program.

I love paying for events, courses and coaches kung alam ko namang magco-contribute sa growth ko. Medyo ibang usapan lang kasi ito because the price is already beyond what my mental wallet can handle.

I gathered all my courage and after days of agony, I decided to finally enroll.

That was in November 2023. 6 months later, I was able to ROI on that learning investment. And from that point on, everything will be a "profit".

Natawa nalang ako why it took me almost a week to decide kung mage enroll ako. Dami ko pa iniyak 😅

Whether it's 6-digit or free yung sasalihan mo, magkakaroon ka lang ng resulta when YOU EXECUTE.

💪🏻 I just find myself taking action aggressively kapag paid kasi parang "I have something to lose" kapag di ako kumilos.

So when there's an opportunity, I share the programs that helped me grow financially, physically and spiritually.

Syempre #1 jan ang MIP Coaching program. May bias yarn? 😆

Another program that helped me fast track my progress is the National Achievers Congress (NAC) IN 2018. I got to learn live from Gary Vaynerchuk and Peng Joon.

Kaya naman excited ako na naibalik na itong event this 2024 and guess what?! Vishen Lakhiani and Ken Honda naman ang main speakers LIVE! 😱

Syempre nag sign up ako agad for VIP seats because I know that this learning fee will pay for itself over and over again kasi action taker ako at takot akong masayang yung binayad ko.

If you are a professional, business owner, or freelancer who wants to combine spirituality and work and experience ultra-high levels of productivity in life, the NAC PH is for you.

📌 Di ako nangha hype ok? You'll know in your heart kung para sa 'yo to or hindi. Pero gusto ko lang sabihin na last day na today (July 11) ng 7.7 promo. Pramis di to aabot ng 6 digits.

Lagay ko sa comments yung details. Also, sa mga g let's process the learnings while having dinner after the event. Para naman makapag take action tayo agad. Kita kits!

Money & Manifestation! ✨️

What a perfect combo. Yan tumatak sa isip ko nung nalaman kong Vishen and Ken Honda are coming to Manila!

Joking aside, naniniwala talaga ako na learning goes beyond the 4 walls of a classroom and ang daming topics na we can explore.

So pag nakaka-encounter ako ng mga tao who wants to revolutionize our education system and talagang kumikilos to make it happen, napapahanga talaga ko.

✨️Isa na rito si Vishen Lakhiani, the Founder and CEO of Mindvalley.

Yung vision niya kasi is not just focusing on the professional success of a person eh. He believes that developing the mind, body, and spirit are all crucial para magkaroon ng fulfilling and balanced life.

And he aims to empower individuals to thrive sa lahat ng aspeto ng buhay.

🪙Another person I'm looking forward to meeting is the author of one of my favorite books, Happy Money! He is renowned worldwide for his transformative insights on financial happiness.

I just secured a VIP seat! Fan girl mode ako!

Join the National Achievers Congress PH this August 23 & 24 and hear Vishen, Ken and other speakers share insights about topics about money, manifestation, real estate, trading, and more.

"Aanhin mo yung pera kung wala ka naman peace of mind?"

That's a powerful statement from my dance coach. Sabi niya nung bata bata pa siya, she'll accept whatever project is offered to her kahit halos walang pahinga at toxic yung environment.

Makes so much sense!

That made me rethink about the different opportunities presented to me. Is it really an opportunity or tinatanggap ko lang kasi babayaran ako?

Same with overtime, choosing the night shift, working on a holiday, or even accepting a promotion... Is the money really worth it?

Just something to reflect on as we start a new month... Wow kalahating taon na pala ang nakalipas?!

BEST HACK TO SAVE MONEY

Few years ago, my boss shared with me his best hack to save money:

AUTOMATE and FORGET❗️

Sa totoo lang, I don't consider him as the 'saver' type kasi laging gumagala (sorry boss haha!) but I still believed in him.

This photo was taken four and a half years ago when I opened an investment account. I chose salary deduction as the option to fund this investment monthly.

There's less resistance as compared when we opt to do saving / investing manually wherein feeling natin 'nakukuhanan' tayo ng pera. As a result, we forgo setting aside money. Behavioral economics in action!

Early next year, this investment will mature at excited na akong gumastos. 😁

Can you guess kung anong investment to?

It's a 2-bedroom apartment I shared with 5 other ladies. Lahat kami galing probinsya at nagre-rent dahil sa Metro Manila ang work.

When I moved in, the place looks decent.

Literal na flowing back yung tubig from the drainage of the bathroom and the sink. Bahala na kayo mag-imagine.

On top of that, there's also the issue of pests (hulaan nyo nalang din kung ano) at nag iinuman na kapitbahay hanggang madaling araw (which by the way I reported to the police hanggang sa naging tropa na ata nila yung officer sa dalas ng punta nya).

I wanted to move to a different place so bad kaso natatakot ako na baka di kayanin ng income ko. Sa apartment na ito may ka-share ako. If I transfer, kakayanin ko ba mag solo?

And so, I devised a plan to move around expenses and find a bit of additional income. Also some friend agreed to share with a new apartment with me.

After almost a year, nakalipat na din sa bagong apartment na malayong mas maayos at safe but with a higher tag price. Because of this, I was forced (in a good way) to do better para ma sustain yung rent.

Now that I'm living alone, mas na appreciate ko how important one's dwelling place is. It's where I produce my best work, express my creativity and host my family and friends. It's a place where I feel the safest, physically and mentally.

Dahil sa naranasan kong yan, my drive to help others improve their personal finances became stronger. Nobody should ever sacrifice their health because of money. I know this is far from reality but if I can make even just a tiny difference, why shouldn't I try?

✨Money✨can buy happiness. PERIODT.

12/06/2024

As an iyakin, ang hirap magpigil when a client starts to tear up during our financial coaching sessions.🥺

Feeling emotional about money is totally normal because our relationship with it is just as personal and valuable as any other relationship in our life.

Our emotional attachment to money is also what makes it difficult to deal with.

Money isn't just math. It's 80% behavior, mindset and feelings.

But then there comes on fear, greed, guilt, excitement, limiting beliefs, traumas which makes tackling our finances extremely confusing kaya madalas pinapabayaan nalang... UNTIL you're in a deep hole na di mo na alam kung anong solution.

As a personal finance coach, it's my advocacy to help you get out of this hole but MUCH BETTER if we will do a proactive approach by creating a personalized financial plan so you won’t have to go through these financial mistakes.

❗️One client of mine had P200k plus debts

❗️Another bought too many real estate properties but lost the ability to pay for them when she lost her job

❗️The latest one "invested" a large portion of her entire savings in forex and eventually lost it

Pag ganyan kabigat yung usapan, di talaga maiwasan maging emotional. But don't worry, all of them are in a much better situation now.

When I started coaching, I thought I should separate my emotions when dealing with clients. But I WAS WRONG. Empathy is an important ingredient in my coaching programs. It's understanding where each person is coming from, why do they feel that way and how they want to use money to live their best life. ❤️

Story behind MIP

Hi there! This page was created with the goal of sharing my personal experiences and learnings in my pursuit of financial freedom.

I am Prexel , a 20-something trying to build various sources of passive income because I don’t want to be an employee ‘til I’m 60. How about you?

I started investing, without actually knowing that I’m already starting to invest, when I was in high school through a cooperative in my hometown, Baguio City. I’ve also tried various kinds of small businesses and slowly started to learn about “real” investments.

Like an answered prayer, in 2017, I became a part of a mission (of IMG - International Marketing Group) to educate my fellow Filipinos on how to improve their financial life.

Today, I may still be employed but I’m starting to gain momentum with my business in the financial industry and have invested in various investment vehicles.

I definitely won’t consider myself as an expert in the money world but I’ll be sharing everything I can to you... So let’s both be a millionaire in progress? :)
