Mandaluyong City: CO1 Micaeula Garcia, together with CO1 Geneva Suyu, External Affairs Section (EAS) Program Officers, provided a two-day dishwashing liquid and fabric conditioner lecture and workshop to soon to be released PDL at the Correctional Institution for Women on July 01, 2022.

The livelihood initiatives of this institution strives to put PDL to work in a contemporary program that offers income-generating activities as a possibility for effectively transitioning them to the working world. Once freed and integrated into society, this could be the first step toward establishing a small business.

Strategic livelihood opportunities were consistently offered as part of the Bureau's Pre-Release Reintegration Program for soon-to-be-released PDL under the direction of CTSSUPT HYLENE C PANCHO, acting superintendent of the CIW.

“Carrying of cellular phone inside the BuCor premises is PROHIBITED.”

Earlier today, the Office of the Director General, through the Intelligence Investigation Division (IID), conducted a random surprise inspection to all the offices at the New Bilibid Prison and BuCor National Headquarters. This is in compliance with the instruction of Justice Secretary JESUS CRISPIN REMULLA on the prohibition of entry of cellular phones in the Bureau of Corrections, duly reiterated by our Director General, USEC GERALD Q BANTAG.

During the inspection, one personnel was discovered to have sneaked-in a cellular phone inside the BuCor’s office despite series of Memoranda on the said prohibition, thus an administrative charge was immediately commenced following proper procedure on the filing of administrative cases to personnel of BuCor.

Again, this policy is strictly enforced to “ALL BUCOR EMPLOYEES, AND NO ONE IS EXEMPTED”, any violation of this directive shall be dealt with accordingly.

The Justice Secretary's Visit

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) warmly welcomed the Secretary of Justice (SOJ), HON. JESUS CRISPIN “BOYING” C. REMULLA as he visited the bureau on July 18, 2022 at the National Headquarters, Muntinlupa City.

The remarkable meeting with SOJ Remulla was gracefully attended by the Director General, USEC GERALD Q BANTAG together with BuCor Key Officials in which the programs and services of the bureau were tackled during the meeting.

Hereafter, SOJ Remulla conducted onsite inspection at the New Bilibid Prison, Maximum-Security Camp (MaxSeCamp) led by Director Bantag together with BuCor personnel.

Our highest appreciation to the Director General, USEC GERALD Q BANTAG for his astounding leadership in uplifting the BuCor’s twin mandates which is safekeeping and reformation.

Mandaluyong City: On June 30, 2022, the Las Piñas City Police Station, under the direction of PCOL JAIME O SANTOS, delivered food and financial assistance to 18 physically challenged PDL at the Correctional Institution for Women.

The said outreach program, a component of police-community interactions, was preferred to be carried out at this institution to empower and assist those denied access to certain services and rights and to continue promoting programs that improve harmonious relations.

Acting CIW Superintendent CTSSUPT HYLENE C PANCHO fully supports the public-spirited virtue of offering services to those incarcerated individuals and continuing to bolster programs for improved inter-communal relations.

Candle Making Activity reopens under the Work and Livelihood Program.

Mandaluyong City: On June 22, 2022, CO1 Norton John Quiñones, the Work and Livelihood Program's chief, and CO1 Jennifer Balana reopened the Candle Making Activity, one of the Livelihood Programs provided by the Correctional Institution for Women, intending to achieve coherent reformation of Persons Deprived of Liberty.

This program seeks to assist PDL in acquiring new skills and training that will enable them to become productive citizens till they are reintegrated into society. Because it is amazingly successful, it will equip them with a respectable existence and money for their daily necessities.

CTSSUPT HYLENE C PANCHO, CIW Acting Superintendent, applauds the Work and Livelihood workforce for providing excellent service as they concentrate on delivering PDL with pieces of training as part of the said initiative.

Orientation of Newly Arrived PDL.

Mandaluyong City: The Correctional Institution for Women Recreational programs personnel carried out a one-day orientation for Thirty-one (31) newly arrived Persons Deprived of Liberty on June 23, 2022, that aims to keep the PDL well-informed and aware of the program provided by this institution.

CSO1 Veronica La Torre, Moral and Spiritual in-charge officer, highlighted the necessity of actively engaging in religious services, bible study, and other faith-based activities to generate a feeling of purpose and empowerment. Additionally, CO1 Tumitit's CIW-Sports and Recreation (SARO) encourages newly committed PDLs to participate in various regular activities to alleviate stress and loneliness and aid their physical well-being while incarcerated.

CTSSUPT HYLENE C PANCHO, CIW Acting Superintendent, is a strong advocate of recreational activities, which are essential in correctional facilities to achieve reformation.

Mandaluyong City: The Education Section of the Correctional Institution for Women supervised the documentation of the ALS Program ex*****on at the Learning Center of the Medium Security Camp conducted by Cebuana Lhuillier Inc. This institution was chosen as one of the partners to be featured in its documentation materials.

Staff from the said foundation was warmly welcomed by CTSSUPT HYLENE C PANCHO and expressed her thanks for the assistance they have previously provided for PDL learners.

In addition to recording the current courses, this event emphasized the importance of the ALS Program for all participants.
