JUST IN | Face-to-face classes will proceed tomorrow, August 15, 2024

We are deeply disheartened by the administration's decision not to shift to synchronous learning during the ongoing 3-day transport strike. This situation clearly warrants an immediate response, yet no reasons were given as to why the continuation of synchronous classes proceeded.

This decision raises serious concerns about accessibility and fairness. We believe that every student should have the opportunity to attend classes without undue hardship, and this strike has created circumstances that make that impossible for many.

As your Central Student Government, we urge the administration to urgently reconsider this decision. The well-being of our students must be the top priority, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind due to factors beyond their control.

We stand with all students who are affected by this decision and will continue to advocate for a more reasonable and just course of action.

JUST IN | Petition to Shift Class Modality on August 14-16

In light of the upcoming 3-day transport strike by the Manibela transport group from August 14 to August 16, 2024, the National University Central Student Government (NUCSG) is advocating for the well-being of our fellow Nationalians. Given the potential challenges students may face in commuting to campus, we have formally requested that all face-to-face classes during this period be shifted to online mode, either synchronous or asynchronous.

NUCSG PETITION: OPENING UNIVERSITY PREMISES FOR TEMPORARY SHELTERS

In response to the recent calamities caused by Super Typhoon Carina, the National University Central Student Government (NUCSG) has submitted a petition to the university administration. Our petition aims to request the opening of specific university areas as temporary shelters for our fellow Nationalians, faculty, and staff who are struggling without basic amenities like electricity, water, and internet connection.

We believe this initiative will provide a safe haven and essential resources during these challenging times. Inspired by the actions of neighboring institutions, we are confident that National University can demonstrate the same compassion and resilience.

| With the surging red rainfall warning issued on Metro Manila by the NDRRMC, serious flooding and landslides are possible. The NUCSG Disaster Management and Community Affairs shares the following emergency hotline and evacuation areas in the National Capital Region amid the severe flooding in Metro Manila due to and the southwest monsoon.

Typhoon Carina intensified on Wednesday morning and is expected to make landfall in Taiwan by afternoon or evening, according to Pagasa. As of 11:00 a.m., Carina was 345 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph and gusts up to 205 kph. It is forecasted to cross Taiwan and exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
