As one of the nation’s pioneer of Architecture, Don Tomas Mapúa is the first registered architect in the country and the founder of the Philippines’ premier engineering and technological school—Mapúa University.

He received a Cultural Award in Architecture by the City of Manila in 1964 and was also awarded a Gold Medal of Honor by the Philippine Institute of Architects. Among his notable achievements is the iconic design of the Manila Central Post Office— a landmark that has witnessed Manila’s history during the American regime, WWII, and post-war.
