Why you have to get multiple clients?
Freelancing is a business. Therefore, for you to earn more money - you have to get more clients.
Having at least 3-5 part time jobs or 2-3 fulltime (Admin roles) is still okay.
Just make sure that when you have multiple clients, you will be able to deliver the same high quality level of service to everyone. Otherwise, you will feel that they can easily replace you and you're invaluable.
If your contract has already ended, move on and just look for another client. Simple.
Freelancing is not for the faint hearted people.
