There are half million homeless people in the US, in which the highest number of them (161,000) are in California. It is a pitiful sight how the less-privileged cramped themselves along the road and open spaces vulnerable to harsh weather conditions and attack from bad elements. I just wonder why the US cannot solve this problem when an average price of low-cost housing unit in the said country is only $157,000. There is a misplaced priority here since the government is engaging in massive military buildup and seems to ignore the sad plight of the illegal settlers. The cost of one Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, one of the most expensive fighter jets is $250 Million. We can just imagine how many houses can be built by the monetary value of one fighter jet alone.
Hate causes war and this is due to the disobedience of God’s word which is to love one another. To disobey the command of God is costly indeed.
Sen. Raffy Tulfo proposes free tuition fees for law students in state universities and colleges. The plan is commendable but it would be better if quality education will instead be directed to the unschooled tribes in our indigenous areas. Law students are capable of funding their own legal studies since they are already degree holders.
I am just wondering why we still have illiterate people, Let us completely wipe out illiteracy from our country. More attention should be given to the needs of our cultural minorities by providing them a better education. The government should offer them free education up to college and more school buildings should be built in the hinterlands with access roads and internet connections.
To improve our economy, we need more scientists, computer experts, chemists, engineers, etc. we have to produce locally manufactured cars, medicines, computers, phones, and various gadgets. We also need skilled workers who will maintain our railways and future nuclear plants and other sources of energy.
I was excited when PBM announced that he would improve our tourism industry. Our country is endowed with natural beauty with its pristine seas, powdery beaches and good climate. I have been in several countries in Europe and I can say that the Philippines excel in terms of its natural scenery. To cite an example, many tourists visit Cinque Terre, a remote seacoast in Italy. The distance to Venice is as far as Manila to Bicol but the train travel is only less than four hours. It is sad that we lack railways for fast accessibility to the nice spots in our place. If only we have massive railways and bridges connecting Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao tourist will surely flock in our land. We still have to establish trams and cable cars for efficient transport and connectivity.
Among the Asian neighbors, we ranked the lowest in terms of exploiting our own oil/gas natural resources. Singapore and Malaysia ranked the highest in that they almost meet their local gas needs. It simply puzzles me, why despite our immense gas resources, the government seems to be not keen on exploiting it to the hilt? We have the Benham rise, the Liguasan Marsh, in Maguindanao, and the Deuterium in Siargao. God gifted us with these rare resources, we should then make it a priority to exploit them for our country to prosper.
Why are we making it difficult to restore the ROTC in schools? It was already practiced before, in fact, I underwent the Citizens Army Training in high school and ROTC in college. The experience taught me military drills, target shooting, discipline, and love of country. Why do we listen to the complaints of the opposition? NPA recruitment in schools thrives due to the absence of a neutralizer. Students who are CAT and ROTC cadets are immersed in patriotism, and nationalism, molding them to be obedient citizens. The lawmakers should make it mandatory, we only have one country, and we are morally obliged therefore to defend and protect it.
I consider Pastor Quiboloy a visionary. Remember how he was ridiculed by Vice Ganda to stop the Probinsyano? The challenge was accepted and the unexpected thing happened. His prophecies were somewhat strange at first but happened. He had a vision of the stinking unburied human head which he interpreted as the demise of Joma. He warned Renato Reyes to mend his ways rather than swim in the lake of fire. Mr. Reyes should meditate on this and hope he will retrace his steps and backtrack by initiating the mass surrender of all the remnants of wayward ideologues.
Former President Rodrigo Duterte signed a proclamation formally designating the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) as a terrorist organization. Legally speaking, the unions it established, therefore, have no leg to stand on, hence they should be dissolved and dismantled. It is sad how the teachers are being burdened by the ACT to pay a monthly salary deduction
of 20 to 50 pesos. Additionally, Ka Eric said that the KMU is disguised as the champion of the laborers but in contrast, the group is responsible for crippling big manufacturing businesses in the Philippines resulting in the loss of jobs to thousands of our kababayans. Atty Gadon is right in saying that we are lagging behind economically by our Asian neighbors due to the massive destruction caused by the CTG.
