Last day of community immersion happened last 12th of April 2024, is full of fun and learning as the ND students teach childrens from Prep-school to grade 6 at Umiray Elementary School and Senior high school students at Umiray National High School.

This nutrition education aims to empower individuals, especially the young ones to make informed and healthy food choices, leading to improved overall health and well- being. It involves teaching people about the importance of a balanced meal, the nutritional value of different foods, portion control, and how dietary choices impact health outcomes.

After the nutrition education at schools, the BSNDs visit again the Umiray Barangay Hall to gratefully thank the Barangay Captain of Umiray for accommodating the students during their immersion week.

Community Immersion - DAY 4

On the 4th day of BSNDs community immersion last April 11, 2024, they conducted a house-to-house health and nutrition survey together with the nursing students and Barangay Health Workers (BHW) around Sitio Malamig, Dingalan, Aurora. They also conduct a nutrition assessment for children in every household and have a chance to experience vitamin A supplementation to kids.

This experience of community assessment helps the students to learn more about the living conditions of the area and get to know the locals more which also helps the students enhance their communication skills within the community.

Last April 10, 2024, the BSND and BSN students together with their Instructors had their ocular inspection around Sitio Malamig, Umiray, Dingalan, Aurora as part of community immersion.

Sitio Malamig has 172 households with 214 families according to their Barangay.

There's a common idea that breastfeeding is all about the bond between mother and child. While that connection is important, we shouldn't forget about the daddies! They can also play a big role in breastfeeding too. Let's explore why breastfeeding is crucial for both babies and moms and how dads can assist to make it even better. For babies, breast milk is like a superfood packed with everything they need to grow strong and healthy. It's not just about nutrition though – breastfeeding also helps babies feel close to their mothers.

Breastfeeding is equally beneficial for mothers as it helps in their physical recovery and reduces the risk of postpartum depression and other diseases specifically breast and ovarian cancer. However, it can also be physically demanding and can lead to feelings of fatigue. That's where the father steps in! This is the time when they can provide valuable support and this is why they have the potential to become instrumental figures in the breastfeeding journey. With the Father's help, breastfeeding can be a team effort that brings the whole family closer together.

March 9, 2024 has become a meaningful and special day for the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics class of 2025 celebrating their White Coat Cloaking and Pinning Ceremony, alongside giving thanks to the 2023 Nutrition-Dietetics Licensure Examination (NDLE) Board Passers. The donning of the white coat marks the completion of coursework and the commencement of practicum, symbolizing a profound sense of responsibility, accountability, duty, respect, and honor.

We are also honored for our guests who graced us during the Pinning and White Coat Ceremony: To Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dean Jomar Dela Cruz, Associate Dean Alicia Bañas, Mr. Monsour Ojeda, and Ms. MorningGrace Bartolome. Your inspiring words and wisdom will truly be remarkable and will become a guide to your students, future Nutritionist- Dietitians.

What a fun experience with Grade 12 students last Feb 29, 2024 at PCU, 7th Floor Auditorium during Grade 12 SUMMIT 2024!

Such an amazing moment of learning experience during the Nutrition seminar last 29th of November 2023, entitled, Di Mahal Ang Magmahal Ng Sarili: A Seminar on "Budget- Friendly Plant Based Diet" held at Philippine Christian University- Manila, 7th floor, Auditorium.

"The best way to grow is to constantly put ourselves in uncomfortable situations. Whether it's learning something new, eating healthy or joining a competition. The more we go out of our comfort zone, the more we learn about ourselves and improve.," one of the speaker's ending notes during the seminar. Mr. John Anthony Enaje, a Registered Nutritionist- Dietetian as our guest speaker during the seminar gives us the knowledge about Plant- based diet, its different kinds, and how it also helped our planet earth. The said seminar is attended by other BS- Nutrition and Dietetics students from different schools whom we are so thankful to graced us during that day.

During the seminar's break, PCU Cultural Dance troupe made us fall in love with their intermission number of traditional dance along with the beautiful instrumental music of the PCU Rondalla that really amazed the whole venue.

All the participants also enjoyed the Plant- Based Bolognese and different kinds of freebies after the Nutrition seminar.

We would like to extend our gratefulness to the PCU - Society of Professional Artists and Creative Students for taking these moments that we do really appreciate the most. Also, PCU Cultural Dance Troupe and Rondalla for such an amazing and lovely performance.

At last, we are so honored and thankful for all our participants who attended especially the BS- Nutrition and Dietetics students from: Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Emilio Aguinaldo College- Manila, Philippine Women's University, Philippine Christian University- Dasmariñas, and Polytechnic University of the Philippines- Sta. Mesa.

NutriEd: Sulong Nutrisyon led by the Philippine Association of Nutrition Upsilon Chapter and the Rotaract Club of Alabang Daang-Hari is a Nutrition education to Feeding beneficiaries students and their Guardians that was held last 25th of November 2023 at Poblacion National High School covered court.

The third year BS- Nutrition and Dietetics students as the speakers of the project give a talk on Vital micronutrients, Balanced meal (Pinggang Pinoy), Nutritious Meal recommendation and Food sustainability. It was a very interactive activity as the parents and children actively participated in discussions and mini games.

Last September 25, 2023, the first part of this project occurred, where the distribution of gardenia bread to PNHS feeding beneficiaries was initiated by the Interact Club of Poblacion National High School.

This project would never be successful without our partners. With these, we would like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors; Gardenia Inc., and Vice Mayor of Muntinlupa, Temy Simundac.
