When I jumped on the call, while waiting for the other team members to come in, I even gave some casual tips when youโre about to do your 1st DC.

Tracking prepaid rental payments
- make sure you debit to rent expense to increase your expense and credit to prepaid rental to decrease the corresponding asset. ideally, post this every 30th of the month

Reconciling loans, mortgages, and interest payments
- make sure you set up your loan on the date that you obtained it. prepare a table on your spreadsheets, for the incoming interest/payments/amortization until the end of loan. ideally update it every monthly cutoff depending on your contract of loan terms

Accounting for capital accounts & tracking ownerโs finance allocation
- make sure you capitalize the fixed assets and its borrowing cost. prepare also a spreadsheet beforehand so you know already how much to update on a timely basis
