🕯️ Isang Mapayapang Undas 🕯️

A rewarding experience shared by one of our student observers! 🌟 "I had the opportunity to observe and assist in a half-day session with Kyla and a full day with Riza, including a group session where I planned and implemented two activities—storytelling and an obstacle course. I even wrote post-session notes and provided feedback to parents! I saw a variety of clients with different presentations and applied my classroom learnings in a real clinical setting under Teacher Zia's guidance. What I loved most was the warm therapeutic relationships at SIBOL. The experience was super fun, and I'm thrilled to have been part of it—100/100!"
Happy Birthday to our incredible SPED teacher, Teacher Macky! Your commitment to making a difference in the lives of our students is truly inspiring. Here's to another year of success and fulfillment! 🎂🎈
"Working here in SIBOL has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my career as an OT. I feel so lucky and grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of children and to be able to work with a supportive team.
I don't consider SIBOL to be just a workplace; it’s also a home filled with love, professionalism, and passion. My colleagues at SIBOL are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the clients we serve, creating an environment where children, parents and staff can thrive. The staff also works diligently to ensure that everything is in place. What I miss most about SIBOL is the camaraderie and support from my workmates, the shared lunches, the loving and caring atmosphere, as well as the collaborative approach when discussing concerns and goals for a certain client.
Being part of SIBOL has not only enriched my professional life but also my personal growth. The experiences that I learned here will continue to influence my approach to life and work: - Teacher Elise

Regression in children with special needs can be challenging for both parents and the child. Here are some tips to help parents navigate this period:
1. Stay Calm and Patient
Tip: Regression can be stressful, but maintaining a calm and patient approach helps create a supportive environment for your child. Remember that setbacks are a normal part of development.
2. Consult with Professionals
Tip: Reach out to your child’s therapist, pediatrician, or specialist if you notice signs of regression. They can help assess the situation and offer strategies tailored to your child's needs.
3. Observe and Record Changes
Tip: Keep a journal of your child's behavior, noting any patterns or triggers that might be contributing to the regression. This information can be invaluable to professionals working with your child.
4. Maintain a Routine
Tip: Consistency is key. Try to maintain your child’s daily routine as much as possible, as predictability can provide comfort and stability during periods of regression.
5. Focus on Strengths and Interests
Tip: Engage your child in activities they enjoy and are good at, which can help rebuild confidence and encourage positive development.
6. Provide Extra Support and Comfort
Tip: During times of regression, your child may need more emotional support. Be there for them with extra hugs, comfort, and reassurance.
7. Reinforce Positive Behavior
Tip: Acknowledge and praise any progress, no matter how small. Positive reinforcement can motivate your child to continue moving forward.
8. Allow Flexibility in Expectations
Tip: Understand that regression might mean temporary changes in your child’s abilities. Adjust your expectations accordingly and be kind to yourself and your child.
9. Engage in Play and Relaxation
Tip: Play and relaxation activities can reduce stress and help your child feel more secure. Incorporate sensory-friendly activities that your child enjoys.
10. Educate Yourself
Tip: Learn more about regression in children with special needs through books, online resources, or support groups. Understanding the underlying causes can help you manage it more effectively.
11. Seek Support for Yourself
Tip: Caring for a child with special needs, especially during regression, can be emotionally taxing. Don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or a support group for parents in similar situations.
12. Stay Positive and Hopeful
Tip: Regression doesn’t mean your child is losing all the progress they’ve made. Often, it’s a temporary phase, and with the right support, your child can continue to thrive.
How have you addressed instances of regression in your child?
We know that regression can be a tough and sometimes unexpected challenge. We'd love to hear from you: What strategies or approaches have you found most effective in helping your child regain lost skills or behaviors? Your experience could be just what another parent needs to hear today.

If your child can sing, they are NOT 'non-verbal.' 🎶 Singing can be one of the first steps in gestalt language development. If your child isn't using words but loves to sing, it's time to explore this exciting journey! 🌟 At Sibol Therapy Center, we embrace the term 'non-speaking' as a more inclusive and accurate description. Stay tuned for more on this in our stories. 💬
If your child can sing they are NOT “non-verbal.” Songs are often first gestalts (scripts/phrases) for gestalt language processors. If your child isn’t using words, but sings, it’s time to start learning about gestalt language development!
*Note: We do not use the term “non-verbal” for any child anymore and instead use “non-speaking”. We will share our post on this in stories.
