Every 17th of May, we commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

Here's a how-to-tutorial on how to celebrate and be a kinder human being!

The celebration started in the year 2004 as part of the World Health Organization's stand against categorizing homosexuality as a mental disorder in the 1990s. When 2009 came, transphobia was included in the IDAHOBIT campaign to call for end of hate crimes, violence, and discrimination perpetuated against our trans siblings.

Years have passed yet discrimination and inhumane practices against the LGBTQ+ Community still prevail in our society. Thus, we continue to fight for safer spaces inside the university and for the ongoing call for legal recognition and protection under the SOGIESC Bill.

Today, we join the calls towards ending every form of prejudice, exploitation, and inequality. Continue the fight for our rights and an inclusive, progressive, and mass-oriented society.

Together, let us paint a society that takes care of its people! 🏳️‍🌈✨

Women have been withheld from power and instead are forced to face discrimination and yet, this has never stopped women from knowing that they can do more than what they are expected to. Women have stood in the front lines of radical movements that aim not only for women but for all victims of the system.

Women have been subjected to marginalization, exclusion, and discrimination, yet it has never stopped them from continuing to assume their place in the world and achieve great things across all fields. Today, we commemorate all the women who relentlessly prove that they can be anyone they aspire to be, their greatness, and how they are truly the pillars of our society.

Sa araw na ito, gunitain natin ang ika-tatlumpu't walong anibersaryo ng EDSA People Power, ang araw kung saan libo-libong mga tao ang nagkaisa para patalsikin ang diktador at pahirap na si Marcos Sr.. Sa lakas at dami ng hanay ng libo-libong Pilipino, isang bansa ang nagawang makalaya mula sa paghahari ng isang pasistang diktador.

Ang pagbibigay ng karangalan sa People Power Revolution ay pagbibigay din ng karangalan para sa mga Pilipinong inialay ang kanilang dugo't pawis para sa kanilang kalayaan at demokratikong karapatan. Isinakripisyo nila ang kanilang mga buhay, kalayaan, at mga pag-aari para sa kapakanan ng pagbuhay muli sa demokrasiya ng Pilipinas. Ang makasaysayang rebolusyon na ito sa ating historya ay ang patunay na ang bayanihan o pagkakaisa ng mga Pilipino at ang kanilang nag-aalab na determinasyon ay kayang puksain ang isang mapang-api na rehimen at magdulot ng malalimang pagbabago sa bansa.

Sa kasalukuyan, isang Marcos na naman ang nakaupo sa pwesto na siyang walang habas na nagpapahirap at nambabastos sa mga mamamayan. Ang pag-upo ng mga Marcos ulit sa pwesto ay isang kalapastangan sa mga Pilipinong nasawi habang lumalaban sa hindi makataong diktadurya ni Marcos Sr.

Ating alalahanin ang kasaysayan at isapuso ang tapang ng mga Pilipinong lumaban para sa ating kalayaan at karapatan. Huwag natin kalimutan ang kasaysayan at huwag din ito hayaang mabura.

Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week (ASAW) is a time to shine a light on the experiences of individuals who challenge the societal norm that romantic love defines happiness and fulfillment.

Whether you identify as demiromantic, grayromantic, aroflux, or anywhere else on the spectrum, know that your unique way of experimenting relationships is valid and worthy of recognition. You may not crave the typical romantic gestures. However, your love for friends, family, and even passions can be just as deep and fulfilling.

This week isn’t just about raising awareness and breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions. We want to challenge the assumption that being aromantic equates to isolation or unhappiness. Instead, we celebrate the diverse ways aromantic individuals build meaningful connections, find joy, and contribute to their communities.

Sa pag-usbong ng panibagong trilohiya ng PUP Pride, patuloy pa rin ang ating mga panawagan sa mga isyung sosyo-politikal na kinakaharap ng ating komunidad kasama ang iba pang mga sektor ng bansa. Kabilang na rito ang mga suliraning ating kinakaharap bilang estudyante, mamamayan, at kahit bilang isang indibidwal. Bilang estudyante ng pamantasang ito, nariyan ang pagwakas ng estado sa PUP-DND Accord, ang pagsasapribado at pagkokomersyalisa ng Sinta, at budget cut ng maraming unibersidad. Hanggang ngayon ay patuloy na nararanasan ng mga kabataan ang hindi mapakinggan at hindi maisama sa mga diskursong nakakaapekto sa lahat.

Sa huling parte ng nakalipas na trilohiya, tayo ay muling nagkaroon ng nag-aalab na pag-asa sa ating mga puso sa kabila ng mga banta ng palpak na administrasyon. Ngunit saan kaya tayo dadalhin ng bitbit nating pag-asa ngayon? Ito ang mananatiling misteryo sa atin. Isang hiwaga na atin pa lamang tutuklasin. Ang masisigurado lamang natin ngayon, bilang mga indibidwal na may iba’t ibang SOGIESC na orentasyon na nabubuhay sa panahon na ito, ay ang pakikibaka para isang bukas na malaya sa diskriminasyon para sa mga susunod pang henerasyon. Bilang panimula ng isang trilohiya, aming hinahandog ang PUP Pride 2024 na may temang: Hiwaga: Pagsilang ng Mapagpalayang Bukas.

Unahin ang edukasyon, hindi ang negosyo!

Ang PUP KASARIANLAN ay nakikiisa sa libo-libong Iskolar ng Bayan laban sa hindi makamasa at anti-estudyante na NPU bill.

Noong Lunes, isinagawa ang committee-level hearing ng NPU bill o National Polytechnic University bill sa House of Representatives, QC. Ang NPU bill ay isang panukalang-batas na naglalayong palitan ang charter ng PUP at magbigay "solusyon" sa krisis ng edukasyon ng Pamantasan.

Sinuklian naman ng kapulisang dapat nagseserbisyo sa mamamayan ng karahasan ang mga lider-estudyanteng nagkasa ng mapayapang protesta sa harap ng House of Representatives habang dinidinig ang naturang bill. Matinding kinakabahala ng PUP KASARIANLAN ang karahasan laban sa mga lider-estudyante, hindi pag-imbita at pagkunsulta ng mga lider-estudyante na sya sanang magiging representante ng mga estudyanteng lubos na maapektuhan sa mga panukalang pagbabago na nilalayon ng NPU Bill. Marapat lamang na gawing parte ang mga estudyante sa proseso at pagdinig ng inilulunsad na naturang bill dahil dapat mapakinggan kung paano at ano ang kailangang tulong at interes ng mahigit kumulang 80,000 na mga Iskolar ng Bayan.

Nakapaloob sa nasabing bill ang pagbibigay ng mas malaking pondo sa PUP na ating inaasam na talaga namang makakatulong sa pagbibigay ng serbisyo ng ating Pamantasan, pero kalakip nito ang mga probisyon na naglalayong gawing pribatisado at komersyalisado sa anyo ng pagbibigay ng piskal na autonomiya sa PUP na ating lubos na tinututulan.

Tinututulan natin ang pribatisasyon at komersyalisasyon ng Pamantasan dahil magreresulta ito sa pagtaas ng matrikula, pagmamahal ng serbisyong pampubliko na dapat libre nating natatamasa, pagdagdag ng mga panibagong bayarin para sa mga estudyante, at pagpapahirap nito sa mga manggagawa sa loob ng unibersidad. Ito ay kailanman hindi magiging sagot sa krisis ng edukasyon na ating natatamasa. Ang totoong kailangan natin para mapuksa ang krisis sa edukasyon ay ang mas mataas na badyet na makakasiguro sa pagbibigay at pananatili ng serbisyo para sa mga Iskolar ng Bayan at ng buong komunidad nito.

Inuulit natin na hindi tayo tutol sa pagtaas ng badyet ng ating Sintang Paaralan, tayo ay tutol sa mga probisyon na nakapaloob sa NPU bill na magreresulta sa pribatisasyon at komersyalisasyon ng ating Sintang Paaralan na magbibigay hirap sa mga estudyante, manggagawa ng PUP, at iba't ibang sektor ng PUP.

Ating ipaglaban ang mataas na badyet para sa ating Sintang Paaralan at sabay-sabay tutulan ang pribatisasyon at komersyalisasyon na inaalok ng administrasyon. Ating ipaglaban ang akademikong kalayaan ng bawat isa at pangalagaan ang pampublikong edukasyon na dapat nating natatamasa!

On January 27th, we come together on International Holocaust Remembrance Day to remember the six million Jews murdered by the N**i regime and millions of others who were targeted for their ethnicity, religion, and beliefs during World War II. This day is not just about looking back at the horrors of the past but also about committing ourselves to fighting hatred and discrimination in the present and building a future where such atrocities never happen again.

The PUP CTHTM Student Council gladly present the PUP CTHTM Freshmen Seminar 2024, with a theme 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻: 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗨𝗣 𝗖𝗧𝗛𝗧𝗠 𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻. The event will be held at the Tanghalang PUP, College of Communication, on the 26th of January, 2024, 1:00pm-5:00pm.
