The Dermatopathology core group of the Tondo Medical Center Department of Dermatology and Venereology held its core activity, “Skin Deep: The Basics of Skin Biopsy,” last March 20, 2024, at the TMC Auditorium. Expert speakers in the field of dermatopathology shared their invaluable knowledge to attendees which comprised of residents and consultants from various departments in TMC and several other dermatology institutions.

The Basics of Skin Biopsy was taught by Dr. Janelle Go, while the Top 10 Dermatologic and Histopathologic Correlation of Cases was discussed by Dr. Marie Len Camaclang-Balmores. Truly productive sessions, these not just refreshed the learners knowledge of the performance of a biopsy and its clinical correlation but also provided them with skills for best practice.

Paano nakukuha ang leprosy (ketong)?
Maari itong makuha sa patak o droplet mula sa ilong o bibig ng taong may leprosy na nakasalumha ng mahabang panahon o matagal na nakasama sa iisang tirahan.

Anu-ano ang mga sintomas ng leprosy (ketong)?
- Pagkakaroon ng puti-puti o nangingitim na patse sa balat
- Pagkawala ng pakiramdam sa mga patse sa balat
- Mga pantal na hindi gumagaling
- Pamumula o pagbubukol-bukol ng balat, lalo na sa mukha at tenga
- Pamamanhid ng mga braso, kamay, binti, o paa
- Kawalan ng pagpapawis sa mga patse

Kung mayroon kayo ng mga naturang sintomas, wag mag atubiling magpa-konsulta sa isang board certified Dermatologist.
